How often do you wash your sheets/duvet cover ?

This isn’t a ‘I wear my bra for 30 minutes then change it’ boast thread.
I wash mine every week, but it doesn’t feel dirty at all, plus it’s just me sleeping in it. With the cost of ever going up would it be wrong to change it every 2 weeks ?

Boil wash every 7-10 days. BUT I use loads of greasy lotions and potions to keep my eczema under control so they get manky if I don't. If I was normal I'd probably do 2 weeks.

Snoken · 28/08/2022 09:42

If I didn't have dogs I would probably wash mine less than weekly. I think every 2 weeks is fine as long as it's not been really hot or you have been unwell of course.

ouch321 · 28/08/2022 09:46

I dont like to leave it longer than a week, you 'wear' it for 8hrs every day so...

But I run short washes, I don't do the 2 hour cycles that everyone else seems to do.

I can even do a 14 minute wash if i want tho normally I pick the 44 minute version.

astoundedgoat · 28/08/2022 09:49

Weekly. Sweaty husband. When it’s just me, fortnightly.

bluebellsandcustard · 28/08/2022 09:50

Once a week at least. My dog occasionally sleeps with me and I don't want it smelling doggy, hence frequency.

HMSSophia · 28/08/2022 10:00

What actually happens if you leave it for say a month or more? Do you get ill or die? Honest question. What's "manky" about it??

ActualMadness · 28/08/2022 10:00

I change ours every 5ish days because dh works nights. I’m in bed all night, him all day and after 4 or 5 days they start to smell.

Wouldloveanother · 28/08/2022 10:00

I do mine every 2 weeks.

Chewbecca · 28/08/2022 10:23

If not washed it smells of sweat.

tonicwaters · 28/08/2022 10:27

The staff do mine. I just use the bed.

Mommabear20 · 28/08/2022 10:31

I always washed ours and DC every week, takes 2 loads to do all of them. I now do them every two weeks, ours 1 week then all the kids the next (in one load) so is cutting down 1 load of washing a week and honestly don't feel worse for it.

Caspianberg · 28/08/2022 10:42

I think it’s just one of those things you ‘hear’ you should do weekly.

I realised when life is busy sometimes it’s 10 days, sometimes 14 days, sometimes 18 days. If Ds eats a biscuit in our bed then it might be 5 day gap that week.

Honestly the world still spins, and I can’t say I notice much difference between 5 days and 18days or whatever. It doesn’t smell or look dirty with less or more ( apart from toddler biscuit crumbs!)

Wearefoooked22 · 28/08/2022 10:47

Weekly in summer but god knows what it will be in winter as I won’t be using the dryer,iv no where to let it dry!

BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ · 28/08/2022 10:50

I always used to do once a week for us and once a fortnight for my kids (who are still kids, not sweaty teens. I've scaled that back to fortnightly/monthly and have noticed no difference tbh.

greenacrylicpaint · 28/08/2022 10:55

2 weekly here as well.
one week dh and mine, the next the dc's.
can't be arsed to do more often.

I use the warm eco cycle for it and line dry (washing line in the attic). bedding comes out nice a fresh.

PollyEsther · 28/08/2022 11:03

I change every week for us, because fresh bedding on a Sunday night after a bath is one of my greatest pleasures in life. I do have a lot of duvet sets though due to aforementioned obsession with bedding so I could conceivably change once a week but wash every other, washing both sets at once, I suppose.

Minesril · 28/08/2022 11:04

I do mine every week, alternate the kid's. It took me an embarrassingly long time into the heatwave to realise we weren't using the duvets so I didn't need to do the covers every week...

Whiskers4 · 28/08/2022 11:05

I'm trying to delay washing towels and bedding for a few days, also wearing some things longer, in the hope I can reduce washing machine usage a bit - it'll save on energy and washing products.

sorrynotathome · 28/08/2022 11:25

TwoCoffeesPlease · 28/08/2022 09:05

Once a week but I don’t think fortnightly is unreasonable. I wouldn’t leave it any longer than that mind you. Perhaps every 10 days is ideal.

Why? What do you think is going to happen if she doesn’t wash her sheets for a month?

Rapidtango · 28/08/2022 11:29

About 2 weeks, but watch for a decent drying day so can put them on the line so it might be slightly more or slightly less depending on the weather.

I only 'wear' bedding like I would a jumper sitting around the house, as I have pj's on and I'm just sleeping. Only the pillowcases would get dirty, except for the cat hair, but that's on the sofas too and I only vacuum those.

MargotChateau · 28/08/2022 11:50

Weekly, although now I’m pregnant and super low energy for chores it’s more like every two.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 28/08/2022 12:19

I do weekly because I would feel minging leaving it. But I also have a cat that sleeps on the bed. She does have a blanket she settles down on but she walks all over my bed first.

PyjamaDuddlejuck · 28/08/2022 12:24

Nope.

woodhill · 28/08/2022 12:25

Usually weekly or stretch to 10 days
