Good news this week:
Ddad has picked up, and now up and about in the care home again 👍

Not so good parts:
Left work late due to visitors in
Car accident on the way home. Not my fault as other driver pulled out right in front of me.
Car damaged and undriveable as headlight broken so no light
Neck hurts so might have to contact GP tomorrow?
Will have to speak with insurers/solicitors tomorrow whilst also having meetings at work

Things to be thankful for:
Other car definitely came off worse as their car wouldn’t even restart
I don’t drive over the speed limit 😄
Picking up hire car tomorrow evening (insurer very efficient)
No one seriously hurt!

HumbugWhale · 12/01/2022 22:34

Oh goodness Love, you poor thing that sounds horrible. Yes def get your neck checked out. Hope you are ok.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/01/2022 07:15

Definitely get checked out love. Let the insurance company do the rest
Pleased dad has improved
Think we have an options decision

Looked at a wardrobe but too £&&& off to ikea

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/01/2022 16:54

£9.35 prescription

marthasmum · 13/01/2022 19:16

Oh no love that sounds awful, I think you should get checked.
humbug I'd say if you have space, a cupboard with shelves or deep chest of drawers. I have a chest in the bathroom and the kids have a drawer each for washed clothes - they're meant to put them away and they don't so it saves me getting mad at having piles of clothes lying about!
Have been pretty good not spending but I really want to get paid now (18th)

AdoraBell · 13/01/2022 19:27

NSD

Lovemaltesers · 13/01/2022 19:50

-Car hire car collected
-My car being collected tomorrow for repair
-Having another call with solicitors tomorrow as they wanted longer than 5 minutes today
-Rang 111, spoke to triage, then paramedic (?), then doctor who decided a trip to A&E wasn’t needed, a bit of whiplash

  • did most of a days work between phone calls, my boss was very kind to me

Not feeling amazing, and really didn’t enjoy driving the hire car the long (2 miles) home.

Cancelled job interview, unfortunately it was due to be in person and driving somewhere I’m too scared to drive to tomorrow now. Just not feeling on my best.

Will probably spend tomorrow trying to avoid driving anywhere!

Mrsmadevans · 13/01/2022 21:11

Love you poor thing that sounds scary , glad you are ok Flowers Good luck go for it! Brilliant news re your DDad bless you Smile
Tesco £49 for a Russell Hobbs 800w microwave , ours went bang last night Shock nice and easy to use thank God , our other one was a right pita , so l am not sorry it's gone tbh Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/01/2022 06:53

Love Flowers

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/01/2022 07:05

Refund for £244 for faulty Christmas present. Just need to get the postage back now.
Replaced it with one from Aldi.
£95 sainsburys but lots for mil so will get a chunk of that back and £17 Amazon on door stops to save my walls

grannycake · 14/01/2022 07:51

£62 Ocado - £9 of that is something ordered for a friend so will get that back
£79 jacket - it may go back but couldn't resist the 20% discount
Need to pop to Co-op as need spring onions for fish pie
Love Flowers - take care. Accidents can rock your equilibrium a bit and take a few days to rebalance

marthasmum · 14/01/2022 07:54

Sounds a good bargain with that refund life
Between my two DS's I need new trainers, new football boots and new school shoes (I've been able to make these stretch a year previously!) They have been late to have their growth spurts so I'm new to the eye watering expense of teenage boys 😳

Wolfcub · 14/01/2022 08:26

Love glad you are ok. Agree with others re shock and making sure to rest. Also if you are still sore in a couple of weeks I'd ask for a physio referral. Whiplash can be a right sod

Wolfcub · 14/01/2022 10:07

House cleaned, will strip bed tomorrow
Meal or meals for the freezer in the slow cooker
Sofa throws washed and hung to dry
Sent photos of faulty item for refund/replacement
£125 dog trainer who will arrive shortly and then we will be busy for the rest of the day
Need to pick up rings and valuations from jeweller later, not sure how much this will cost as it's a % of the value
Moved an amount into my penny saver
Went to cancel my free kindle unlimited and got offered 4 months for 7.99 total so took them up on that as I'd spend more than that on kindle books in that period so it works out cheaper for me and I've enjoyed the magazines

Mrsmadevans · 14/01/2022 19:03

£7 Tesco milk clementines and bread Smile
Bought some Spot Dots for Dd1 from Amazon on lightening deal £8.49
Beautiful day here very cold though Brrrr!

Lovemaltesers · 14/01/2022 19:36

Walked DC to school today, and DD1 walked half of the way there with just her friends for the first time. She’s growing up! Saved on petrol didn’t want to drive the hire car with the DC

£60 Amazon on 2 new car seats. Should be covered by insurance claim.

I did drive the car later to collect a prescription. Felt so, so anxious and a bit teary when I got back home. Probably putting a mask on whilst in the pharmacy didn’t help with the anxiety much either.

In good news, the care home has agreed I can do their pcr test (enhanced measures) on Sunday, so I should be able to visit Ddad on Friday.🤞no one in the household gets covid before then! It will have been a over month since my last visit.

Am going to pootle somewhere in the car tomorrow… I know I need to keep at it!

Startagaintoday · 15/01/2022 05:41

Good luck with the hire car @lov

Startagaintoday · 15/01/2022 05:42

@Lovemaltesers posted too soon. Yesterday petrol. Today at work so should be NSD.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/01/2022 07:13

Be kind to yourself love. You have a new car and have had a nasty shock. Can dh drive it. Go somewhere quiet and get used to it. Remember how even one learns to drive round an industrial estate

HumbugWhale · 15/01/2022 07:31

Sorry you are having such a tough time following the accident Love, it must have been a huge shock. Yes definitely see if someone else could drive you to somewhere really quiet so you can drive without worrying about traffic.

I am hoping for a low spend weekend. I expect we will need to buy mill and a couple of other things but hopefully that will be it. I am watching a small sideboard on Ebay that is currently a good price and local for collection so may go for that. Thinking we could put it in the hall for keeping all our post, documents, keys etc then they will no longer be in a massive pile in the kitchen!

Unescorted · 15/01/2022 08:00

Morning.

Love Hope you are feeling more confident now you have taken the hire car for a spin. Fingers crossed for a Covid free week. It will be lovely to see him.

More baking this morning. Gingerbread. My DDads eyes lit up when I said I was going to make some. It is the only cake my DMum used to make when I was kid - I haven't inherited cake making from her. I am also considering Anzacs. And maybe something else.... a savoury offering maybe. If anyone one wants baked goods just knock on.

Wolfcub · 15/01/2022 09:36

Love totally natural to be nervous both of driving a different car and driving after an accident. I've had a few and I vividly remember bursting into tears and having a mass panic the first time behind the wheel - even though it was about six weeks post accident. Agree with the others re finding a quiet space just to have a little practice if you can. Positive news on seeing your dad, fingers crossed.

Unescorted a nice quiche maybe?

Unescorted · 15/01/2022 10:22

Freezer fossiking has uncovered pasty filling.... paired with a herby flaky pastry it will be lunch for ne & the boy. Not a Cornish pasty for all the purists.

Can anyone explain how I have caught lurgy. DS is not ill DH has taken the human petri dish to London earlier this week. I have not been out of the house - not even to the shop/ walk/put bins out.

OP posts:
Wolfcub · 15/01/2022 11:45

Unescorted pasties sound nice. Very unfair to be ill when you haven't been anywhere

It been a crossing jobs off the list morning. Bed stripped and remade, need to hang stuff up when the washer finishes spinning

Two dog walks

Picked up picture that's been at framers for over 18 months (them not me) and hung it - £25. Dropped another picture off to be framed

Rang insurance to make changes and add specified items. Which added £200 to my renewal which, as you know is already astronomical due to the flooding. Tinkered with the excess to bring it back to the original eye watering renewal cost and paid it

Amended next weeks meal plan and the shop expected for Wednesday. Another walk due after lunch and the parents are dropping in and then I'll make a banana loaf and try and find something in the cupboard for dinner

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/01/2022 13:12

Mmmm pasties. Stock up done £21 home bargains, £22 companies shop, £27 paint stuff.
Freezer and fridges organised, meat frozen and going to make 2 lemon cakes this afternoon
