Festive Frugaleering
HumbugWhale · 26/12/2021 22:37

I think I am possibly even more full of food than yesterday! Had a second Christmas dinner of heated up leftovers, xmas pudding with Baileys cream mid-afternoon and cheese/crackers for tea with some apples and grapes. Been nibbling on chocolates all evening. Going to try and eat less and move about more tomorrow Grin
Also browsing furniture sales online. Think we have settled on the bed we would like after complaining about how uncomfortable ours is for the last 2 years! Might go and check it out in the shop tomorrow.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/12/2021 08:33

I got some dog toys in the sale after super chewer wrecked some.
We don’t really need anything yet but I want lots.

Cinema today to see Spider-Man but plenty of treats to taje

Wolfcub · 27/12/2021 08:46

Happy bank holiday monday all. Hope everyone has had the best few days possible in your own circumstances.

In true festive spirit I received my house insurance renewal quote and boiler cover renewal quote on Christmas Day. Need to sit down and re-jig my budget and sob a bit. Once the next gas and electric hike hits it's going to be painful.

It's foggy and grim here today, yesterday's snow and ice has passed. Going to make some pigs in blanket sandwiches and then brave the roads to take ds to his dad's

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/12/2021 09:13

No snow here wet and foggy. Be careful on the roads wolf

Unescorted · 27/12/2021 09:47

life I am not sure.... I think I am going to have a whirl at working out how to use one again and then do a simple T shirt or 2, followed by jersey dresses, hoodies, jim jams, leggings, frocks with stretch, linen frocks, more frocks. Did I mention frocks? DD thinks she might get a look in.......mwahahahahahaha! Only 4 more sleeps.

I am a pest - I see clothes I like but don't like the fabric. When I find a dress I like it is only available in the wrong size.

I love jigsaws - We used to do them when we went skiing.

wolf I am dreading the energy price increases. My M&D are on bulk propane gas and that has shot up in price. Almost doubled since November and not the cheapest to start with. The wood burners are suddenly not such a faff after all.

Adora I am a christmasinarush.com too. This year was 36hours from start to finish, which I think is a record. Possibly because I delegated the tree and had help to do gingerbread icing (do not mention the Persimmon built house). DD did a nativity in the medium of sugar and biscuit..... cue much laughter and a spatial and temporal study into the travel distance of royal icing.

Sat in my car with my travel mug of tea and kindle, as just dropped Dmum off for a visit with Ddad. 🤞 that I might be able to visit him again later this week.

Dmum and I have the same conversation on repeat now where she says her carpets don’t need vacuuming and I say they do! According to her, they don’t get dirty as only she lives there Hmm

I’ve got ordered some new cardigans online in the sales, that’s it so far. My ones for work seen better days.

My snacks at cinema cost more than the tickets and popcorn was burnt. Next time they can get frozen Fanta but everything else is coming in with me.
Happierwithouthim · 27/12/2021 15:10

Made contact with my sister in law's sister today to book in a shopping trip with her later in the year when I've lost weight. Need to find a style & create a wardrobe

Wolfcub · 27/12/2021 15:43

I feel hideous. Lat flow negative but feel a really horribly lurgy brewing.

Too new year tip, as emails hit your inbox be ruthless with the unsubscribe button. Decluttering is god for the mind and your wallet will thank you

northender · 27/12/2021 16:07

Well done life. I did bubble & squeak yesterday . Had the turkey bones in the gammon cooking liquid in the slow cooker overnight. Soup is now cooking. Turkey, ham, stuffing & gravy into a Jamie Oliver pie. That will leave turkey to freeze (enough for a curry at the weekend). We've not touched the cheese yet!

Christmas has been really good except for me being crocked with an incredibly painful hip. I've been pretty immobile with it but think it's a bit better today. Not sure yet whether I'll manage the journey to Devon in the morning. Ds not feeling well but Lat flow negative so far. Hope you're okay wolf.

Unescorted · 27/12/2021 16:42

wolf and miniMrNorth fingers crossed that you are only coming down with a cold. Numbers around here are shooting up - I suspect it is a matter of time before it makes another appearance.

Love Hope you didn't get too cold in the car and you mum and dad had a good visit.

In a year that keeps giving...dh is in A&E to rule out a stroke which may or may not be related to the lung gubbins I would be worried but I have nothing left to give.

Lovemaltesers · 27/12/2021 17:49

I really hope DH is ok unescorted Flowers

AdoraBell · 27/12/2021 18:28

Everything crossed 🤞 for DH unescorted

Me, 98 pence today on ibuprofen. We took DD1 back to Cardiff, DH paid for lunch and train tickets for DD2. She’s now clear of Covid so she joined us for lunch.

Yesterday I transferred £80 to DD1 to tide her over. This was after transferring £80 to the account she can’t access 🤦‍♀️ It’s a loan asI did the same for DD2. I can’t expect one to repay it and not the other.

Hope you enjoyed the cinema life

Taytocrisps · 27/12/2021 19:30

Three NSDs Halo. Well, I ordered ice skating tickets for DD and her friends but I'll get the money back.

Had three nice days with my family but I'm looking forward to a few quiet days now, where I catch up on some reading and TV.
