granny It Is good when they have a peaceful death.

Wolf where our cheese party invites?
Em have a lovely evening.

Mrs can you get a key safe for them - that way whoever is closest can set them free. Save you the trek between Swansea and Cardiff.

My gingerbread house had a moment ... I got up and it had collapsed.
None of the presents had been wrapped so I have spent the morning wrestling sticky tape and untangling ribbon. No name tags to be had so had a lovely half hour painting some.

Why is it all the little things take sooooooooooo long.

marthasmum · 24/12/2021 19:06

Mrsmadevans · 25/12/2021 08:55

Merry Christmas everyone 😀
got up at 8 straight in bath , off to MumBobs now have a lovely day everyone 😊

Unescorted · 25/12/2021 12:41

We are having a chilled Christmas. The kids have only just got up. Off to m&d - Mystic Meg predicted my DM refused to come here even for half an hour. So I prepped them a shove in the oven Christmas dinner while I was doing ours.
We will have dinner later and while it is in the oven we can do the present opening.

Happy Christmas frugal ones!

Had a good day here, just back from delivering Dmum back home. Kids did a good job of singing Christmas songs at the dinner table once they’d finish eating, to stop Dmum talking/eating at the same time Xmas HmmXmas Envy

HumbugWhale · 25/12/2021 20:16

Merry Christmas all! Lovely day here, dcs were up early but not stupidly early and loved all their pressies. Dmum has been here all day which was much better than last year when she came for a cup of tea in the garden! Dinner was delicious and there are plenty of Boxing Day leftovers. Much time has been spent building Lego sets and drinking fizz. Kids now in bed and I'm going to have a proper look at my pressies and maybe some cheese...

ememem84 · 25/12/2021 20:55

Merry Christmas! Hope Santa has been good to everyone and you’ve all had lovely days.

Xxx

Gensola · 25/12/2021 23:33

Merry Christmas everyone!

Had a lovely chilled day doing not very much. DH cooked up a storm for my family which was much appreciated.
NSD 🤣

northender · 26/12/2021 07:19

Happy Christmas everyone!
We had a lovely chilled one & the dc declared it the best Christmas ever which was not bad as they're 17 & 20.
Lots of leftover food challenges for me now....

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/12/2021 08:36

Christmas Day round 2 with DM to day. Leftovers challenge starts tomorrow

Unescorted · 26/12/2021 08:53

Well that all went much better than expected....

The chuck in the oven dinner for my Mum and Bro went down really well, Our dinner went well - the Bouche de Noel looked really impressive. I suggest mushroom meringues and "frosted" fruit and rosemary for quick & easy wow factor. I got the amounts kind of right - enough to eat but not mountains of left over except stuffing which was intentional because boxing day tradition says you have to have fried stuffing with bacon and poached eggs. My family aren't good with leftovers so most things not eaten are wasted.

The best bit is that I got up this morning to tidy up to find the kids had done it already and a lovely note saying that they really enjoyed yesterday, despite the much longer than expected visit to my Mum & Dad.

Now it is me time - I am off until 6th Jan so plenty of time to do all the things I want to do.

Speaking of ...does anyone have an overlocker recommendation?

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 26/12/2021 09:46

Sounds fabulous unescorted

northender · 26/12/2021 10:53

That does sound like a good day unescorted. I don't know re overlockers. I had an Elna one which I sold about 6 months ago as I had had it for 20+ years & had barely used it. My mum has one so if I need one I can use hers. I think Elna are good but janome do them too. Banners in Manchester is a good place to go

Mrsmadevans · 26/12/2021 14:45

Afternoon everyone Smile
Sounds as if everyone had a good Christmas day all in all, mine was ok just busy as per Smile
I have not been searching the sales which is so unlike me but l don't want the stuff hanging aroud the house till next Christmas tbh Hmm
I think l want to declutter this year and get the house tidy at long last have a place for everything Xmas Grin
So NSD for 2nd day in a row yay!

floatinginmyhomie · 26/12/2021 18:46

granny I’m really sorry for your loss💐
martha I hope you had a wonderful christmas with bil☺️
mrs well done on 2 NSD⭐️
I’m glad everyone had such lovely Christmases🎄 was lovely here too. I treated myself to some things from the sales today. Still shopping though so will be back later with spends.

marthasmum · 26/12/2021 19:05

I have had a lovely time thank you floating
Hope everyone else is ok
Sorry to hear you didn't get much time off on Xmas day mrs - hope you can maybe treat yourself with the money you save in the sales?

Unescorted · 26/12/2021 20:17

I may have just bought an overlocker...... it can do roll hems without a separate foot. I am happy.

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 26/12/2021 20:39

Bah ds go pro not charging properly. Sick
Of stuff being a faff. Why can’t things just work!

Ooo what are you overlocking first?

ememem84 · 26/12/2021 22:21

Round two done. Back at dparents for lunch with dsis and her boyf. We super like him. More presents from them for us and the kids. Super generous. Kids are excited exhausted.

Tomorrow I must get them to eat a vegetable.

I’ve just done some of my jigsaw puzzle. Dm and df gave me a puzzle board and a puzzle. I find them super therapeutic but until yesterday had literally nowhere to do them because two kids under 5. Yay
