Morning all spends yesterday £120 in Morrisons which included sweets for trick or treaters have hidden them from ds as he is partial to a bag of haribos wanted to get some microwave meals for ds as it’s half term and he’s working extra shifts but the fridges and freezers were bare also no potato waffles

Off to the big next home store today to get bits for the bathroom as haven’t found anything I like in dunelm etc then going out for tea in the pub where ds works tonight with dm dsi and dh cousin who is also dsi best friend since primary school not how me and dh met btw

Need to do my car insurance did a quote the other day and got a cheaper deal dh did his but I got side tracked so need to finalise mine have been lazy the last few years and just automatically let it renew but trying to be organised now

Have a good day everyone and hope everyone who is feeling poorly feels better soon

Hey guys 👋

Not been around much as I've not been very frugal recently 🥺 but really need to start getting my act together now.

Popped into Sainsburys this morning for a tin of kidney beans and some desiccated coconut and spent £39, £6 on sushi for dd1, £12 on a (really nice) table runner, £8 on a tin of Roses and the rest was mostly random stuff purchased on impulse.

Dh is really unwell, it's been going on for two weeks now and as he has a lot of other health issues it's a bit of a worry, he's had 2 PCR's and both were negative, unfortunately we still can't see a doctor here, we also can't make online appointments so it's a case of calling at 8:30 every morning until you get through, even then they usually say there are no appointments available, he's called 111 twice and the advice they gave is to call the doctors surgery!!

Roast lamb for dinner today, it's been in the oven since 12 and smells great, I've also made a jam and coconut traybake, and got a chilli in the slow cooker for dinner tomorrow.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

Massive pile for charity and tip now. Stuff in boxes to move. Too much stuff
Saw and aunt and uncle today who are such easy company

HumbugWhale · 24/10/2021 16:53

Took the kids into Brum today for first time in ages. Am exhausted after all the keeping them occupied in a restaurant/keeping them away from the edge of the canal/stopping them crashing into shoppers/not losing them etc. We had fun though and they got to see where daddy works. ELEVEN pounds parking though!

Taytocrisps · 24/10/2021 19:51

We're going to be having a verrry late dinner tonight. DD got it into her head that she wanted to make pizza. So she asked me to pick up some pizza bases. But they didn't have any in the supermarket. So she said she'd make home made pizza dough. But the recipe she found (BBC Good Food) made for a very wet and sticky dough - I read the comments at the end and lots of people had the same complaint. We had to add lots more flour so we could knead it. And DD had missed the step that says you have to leave it for a minimum of two hours to rise. Hope it's not a complete disaster.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/10/2021 19:54

Eleven pounds!!!!!

I’m sure the pizza will be fine

Better late than never! Hope it's yummy after all the effort.

Mrs my Thriller zombie dance is purely for my own amusement at home unless very drunk but I am a bit tipsy as "it's Sunday night and there's no work tomorrow glass of wine" turned into half the bottle. So you never know... Grin

marthasmum · 24/10/2021 23:08

Glad everyone is having a sociable time.
humbug that brought back memories of trying to control little ones on a big day out. I remember taking them school uniform shopping once and thinking we’d made it when we got to Pizza Hut with no mishaps, then one of them spilt a drink all over the table. Mind you its still a bit of a night mare to take all three clothes shopping, every time I do it I vow never to do it again.
Having said that we’re having a lovely time here with my DSis and DNephew. Have been to Malham cove for a long walk, then chilled today watching the football and Vigil which we’ve all enjoyed. Planning to go into Bradford tomorrow. And not spent too much which is a bonus. I over shopped on the food next week and I think I’ll manage just with getting fresh this week as the freezer is stuffed full.
Got a big spend coming up on double glazing some more windows - been doing them a few at a time. It will be about £2000 to do four more and then that will be the front of the house done. The. I need to start saving in earnest for a holiday abroad next year - our first as a family!
I wonder how baby meadow and meadow are doing - hope all is well xx

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/10/2021 07:05

So the people are taking all the curtains in the new house. Good job it’s winter and dark morning and night £££££ coming up

Taytocrisps · 25/10/2021 08:58

I'm happy to report that the pizza turned out just fine. We were really happy with it. And we've three more potions in the freezer. Just have to do all the washing up now. We were too tired last night.

Taking DD to have a walk around a university campus later. I don't imagine the university is open to the public (are open days a thing anymore or is it all online these days?) but we'll just get a feel for the building/town etc. A lot of people here choose this university because there's a direct bus service.

I'm making chicken enchiladas for dinner and then we'll finish off our weekend with a movie by the fire.

Mrsmadevans · 25/10/2021 16:09

Mrsmadevans · 25/10/2021 16:14

Tayto your plans sound lovely ☺️
Glad your Dd pizza turned out well 😋

Mrsmadevans · 25/10/2021 16:16

Life l am so unreasonably angry at them . Let them take their dust riddled rags and may none of them fit the new windows 🤣💐

Mrsmadevans · 25/10/2021 16:21

Martha glad you are enjoying yourself with your family 🤗
Have yet to watch Vigil but looking forward to it 🤗
Finished White Lotus it was excellent ☺️
Am debating having a uPVC porch put on , DH not a fan but l think it would be a great idea . Am already envisaging a cupboard with all the shoes and boots in 🤣🤣🤣

Mrsmadevans · 25/10/2021 16:23

AHH nearly forgot shopping today 58 , Tesco . Bought the Dds Lindt advent calendars as per and bought the sweets for the Hallowe'en trick or treaters 🤗🎃👻

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/10/2021 16:54

They are taking the dust bins too which is more vexing.
£££££ at pyo pumpkin but kids has a good time

Lovemaltesers · 25/10/2021 17:56

Surely the dust bins belong to the council?!
😱

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/10/2021 18:36

You would think! Every house has a set of bins why take them

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/10/2021 18:38

Who has a pizza oven? Is ooni worth the ££ or should I go for aldi

Unescorted · 25/10/2021 18:59

life it is me with the Ooni. I would buy one again in a flash. It has paid itself back since I got it in June. We eat a lot of pizza, and have lots of friends over to eat pizza.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/10/2021 19:54

I will be picking your brains later as to which one to get and what accessories

Bornlazy · 25/10/2021 21:53

Hi checking in after a few weeks off the frugal wagon 🙈

My bathroom is still not finished. It was a more complicated job than anticipated with the floor needing replaced and the walls too. I kind of half expected it as there is literally not a wall in my house that runs straight. It's hopefully going to be great when it's finished but it's cost more than we first planned but still cheaper than some quotes as my DH is doing a lot of the work himself.

Ds1 has been unwell now for about 10 days with a kind of flu thing (negative PCR) Camden. He has lost his voice and is coughing up green stuff 🤢 GP today prescribed antibiotics without actually seeing him 🙄 Unfortunately ds2 seems to have taken it now too. Hope your dh improves soon.

Life who takes a bin and curtains with them??? Still if you get to move it'll be worth it 🤗

Congratulations Meadow hope you are enjoying baby snuggles 🥰

northender · 26/10/2021 00:59

The Ooni chat has made me think about it again, and with my looming big birthday, that is an excellent present idea!
