Woo hoo Grin
Lovemaltesers · 09/10/2021 18:01

I have everything crossed for you life

We paid for our flu jabs today. £30
£32 H&M on clothes for DC
£20 lunch
£40 on Christmas food order. Went for cheapest turkey as we’re not normally home to eat the leftovers on Boxing Day so don’t need anything big. Used £25 from our ONS survey reward.

Scary when you write it down, that’s £120 spent! Just like that.

I couldn’t get petrol yesterday.

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/10/2021 18:55

Horse was fab but ££££ good job I need to eat my freezer and cupboards down as cat afford anything else

Unescorted · 10/10/2021 07:43

Best of luck for the 29th life

Am I the only one logging on to see if we have a new MiniMeadow? Hope it all going swimmingly.

I went shopping yesterday.... for me. One back to the office with lockdown pounds frock (£25 down from £165) and a set of roller balls. I have also found my weight loss rewards.... new jeans and a Patagonia jacket. I guess I need to join the exercise / weight loss thread.

Dh has finally given up drinking.... altogether. It is saving us a fortune. I had not realised quite how much he was spending on alcohol. It has been 45 days since he has had a drink. I am so proud of him. I suspect I should tell him that.

ememem84 · 10/10/2021 07:47

life I’ll keep everything I have crossed for you!!!!

Yesterday’s spends £40 riding then £27 at stables for a voucher for friends little girls birthday. And then £25 to neighbour who dropped off swim floats the other day. They have 4 kids so he dropped off everything. Some will go to grandmas. Some stay with us.

We took kids to the adventure park late afternoon then DH and I went out for dinner. Chrtousey of mil. We went to nice Michelin starred restaurant and had a wonderful dinner. All three of my courses were amazing. (Pea and ham giant ravioli with smoked egg; lamb fillet; Black Forest dessert). If I could have only chosen 2 I’d have dicthed the lamb. It was delicious. Melt in the mouth full of flavour. But the starter and dessert were something else.

Also had a French martini to finish the evening. Yum.

DH is now downstairs shouting at the kids. Because he’s not listening. 🙄

Meeting dsis at 930 at local cafe for coffee and bacon rolls. There’s also a car boot so will have a wander.

Dc had a friend for a sleepover & we watched cruella on Disney+ and I put together an IKEA chest of drawers Grin

ememem84 · 10/10/2021 14:17

£7 car booty on books for the dc. A whole bag for life full so a right bargain. Plus a frozen blanket. They are obsessed with Elsa and Ana at the moment.

£12 bacon and egg roll, sausage baguette, three coffees, two toasted tea cakes, two apple juices and a bottle of water for dsis me and the dc. I had 2 coffees.

Have done some gardening and weeding.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/10/2021 16:58

Pil paid for Sunday lunch as cba cooking today £90.
£15 kennels balance, £30 half tank petrol, £18 home bargains,

MeadowHay · 10/10/2021 20:54

Spends: £5 playgroup pre-booked for tomorrow. I've got a load of stuff in a Boots basket waiting check out as well though God knows when I will pay and check that out.

Em My DD is well into Elsa atm too despite never having watched Frozen. She doesn't even WANT to watch it, she won't let me put it on Confused the only thing she knows is the Let It Go song hah.

Unescorted Nope, no baby yet! Well done to your DH on the non-drinking.

marthasmum · 10/10/2021 21:41

Duh just lost a long post!
em love a car boot. I used to live in Brighton and there was a great one.
happier loaded fries would go down well here and sounds frugal! Is it wedges with cheese and bacon chucked on? I feel like I’m doing better with the food shop recently - need to work in at least one cheap meal a week like jackets.
meadow hope you are ok. Late pregnancy with a toddler is exhausting. I bet you will be less tired when the baby’s here even with broken nights.

Taytocrisps · 10/10/2021 23:16

Evening everyone.

I've had a busy weekend. I've done seven days of Walktober and I've managed 10,000+ steps per day. It's hard fitting it in, especially with the evenings getting darker. I did a long beach walk this afternoon.

DD and I organized our baking press yesterday. Really impressed with our efforts - it's so much easier to see what we have and what we need. The two boxes on the top shelf (on the left) are bars and lollipops for the Hallowe'en trick or treaters. The next weekend DD's home, we're going to do the same with the press we use for pasta, rice, canned veg. etc.

I really enjoyed movie night last night.

Happier did you see the choir programme this evening? They got healthcare workers from all over the country to participate in a choir via Zoom and they made a video to U2's song, 'Sometimes you can't make it on your own'. It was very moving. One of the nurses was grieving the loss of her mother (also a nurse) who died from Covid Sad. I'm not sure if they've done something similar in the UK? I know Gareth Malone has done a few choir programmes.

I do like a well organised cupboard/press
And a good car boot, I had loads of stuff to sell but never got round to it so charity shopped it. I’m thinking when I unpack there will be loads of stuff I haven’t missed

Sheffield today with work and the break room is shut so ££ on food but can claim some back.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/10/2021 06:16

That show sounds lovely

northender · 11/10/2021 06:29

The weekends go too quickly don't they?
Dd's rugby got a bit feisty yesterday, punches were thrown. Dd kept out of it!
Possibly a quieter week ahead, but plenty of work & study....

Weekends go way too quickly Sad I think it's because they are busy, I try to stay home on a Sunday to get everything sorted for the week ahead but as I'm cooking/ironing/cleaning the day just disappears and before I know it's 7pm.

It was so dark this morning when I left to walk the dog, the nights really seem to be drawing in too. I've resisted putting the heating on so far, but I might have to soon - it's getting so cold in the mornings.

I've spend loads of money so far this month, I don't get paid until 29th so need to cut back from today, I'm trying to use up all the freezer food between now and the new year so that should help.

Hope everyone's well Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/10/2021 09:54

Travelling with work today. Might get some steel Wink

HumbugWhale · 11/10/2021 10:48

We badly need to organise our freezer, it's a nightmare. Have already meal planned for this week and shopped accordingly but next week there will be a freezer audit and a using-things up plan.

How's it going Meadow? Hope you are ok/in labour/cuddling a baby!

ScreamToTheSky · 11/10/2021 11:52

Fell off the Fred.

Thinking of you meadow hope you’re having squishy baby cuddles very soon!

Had my induction for work today :) getting a work laptop and phone in the next couple of weeks too which is great. It was optional but since I use office365 for my tutoring etc, and the Caglets use the PC for school/home ed, it seemed like the more sensible option.

Currently decorating the living room and discovered some cracks in the concrete floor 😬 very grateful that we are HA tenants, they are sending someone on Wednesday.

MeadowHay · 11/10/2021 21:14

Nope, still no baby here! Tomorrow or Wednesday would be best as DD will be in nursery then Wink...!

Spends: £20.53 on groceries and nappies. Very un-frugal as mostly bought very overpriced ready-prepped veg but am so knackered atm at least it will mean us actually eating decently.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/10/2021 22:01

Don’t worry meadow time like this is why frugality is good the rest of time. Rest up

HumbugWhale · 11/10/2021 22:21

Sending you baby vibes for tomorrow and Wednesday Meadow!

That sounds great Sing, hope you enjoy your new job.

Tayto I've no RTE here, actually to be honest I watch very little tv, hopefully I'll get back into routine of emmerdale soon. Finish work at 5:30, two days a week go straight to HIIT class, home, walk dog, dinner, dc come home, make lunches, bed. Other two days dc straight after work, do activities/homework with dc, walk dog/errands, housework bed & bam it's Friday again GrinGrinGrin

Baking press looks great & it's great that your dd helps & takes ownership of these jobs and it's not all left to you.

Life I've unpacked very very little, here 15 weeks tomo Shock there will be more going to charity shop & bin when I summon up energy to tackle it!

Meadow hope baby makes an appearance soon. On my fb memories I see I started mat leave 8 years ago today, ds took almost another month to arrive!

NSD
Got my Shein order but much of it going back. Except these because I love them! Bit of Dorothy in wizard of oz vibes but I love them Grin €1.99 for returns when you pay at time of order. Moral of story I'm L not M in their sizing Blush

I love those shoes.
I know it makes me realise I don’t need the amount of stuff I have or the just in case stuff

Great news on the job sing

Mrsmadevans · 12/10/2021 16:54
