Glad the bathroom is sorted Alfie
I'll have a look at that article wolf anything to help keep the bills down
Only spends yesterday was £10 on salmon for tea, was totally worth it.

HumbugWhale · 07/10/2021 07:13

Enjoy your new bathroom Alfie.

Welcome Months.

Low spends so far this week. Have bought a couple of xmas pressies because I saw them and the dcs will like them but nothing expensive. Did a massive supermarket shop that should keep us going for a while. Or until the dcs eat all the fruit!

ememem84 · 07/10/2021 07:45

Dropped off again.

Busy morning so far. Load of washing done. Dishwasher on. Put some things away.

Pilates last night so am a bit stiff now.

Cold almost gone Life but have done my back in which is making me grumpy and uncomfortable

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/10/2021 12:19

Ooo ouchy

MeadowHay · 07/10/2021 14:43

Oh hope your back is soon better Wolf.

DD seems to have caught another cold before her and DH had even fully recovered from the last one ffs. Terrified I will catch this too eek. She's not got a temp this time though and so far is very well in herself unlike last time.

My due date today and no baby yet. I was convinced they would be earlier as DD was born on her due date!

Spends: £3 playgroup.

Sooo tired today. Have already had too much caffeine for a pregnant woman tbh and also just ate too many biscuits. Got a long afternoon of somehow finding the strength to entertain DD for hours and hours. Will stick her in the bath for a bit later but even then she insists on my full attention at all times, it's not like I can even just sit and read a book next to her or anything.

I saw on the news they reckon energy bills will rise THIRTY PERCENT in 2022, ffs! Sad

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/10/2021 17:47

Meadow for some one 40 weeks pregnant that’s fine for dd.
Bills rises are scary

HumbugWhale · 07/10/2021 22:12

Oh no, Wolf - hope you recover quickly.

Meadow I should do whatever's easiest with dd. When I was pregmant displayed hospitals or cafes a lot with dd1. I was always the customer or the patient so just had to sit there drinking pretend cups of tea/having my temperature taken/being bandaged!

HumbugWhale · 07/10/2021 22:13

*I played, not displayed!

marthasmum · 08/10/2021 08:13

Ooh I remember playing hospital so I could sit down. Lovely! When I was pregnant with DS2 I unwisely told DD how babies are born and her favourite game was then playing at ‘delivering’ babies with whoever she could. Which was a bit disconcerting for some guests!

ememem84 · 08/10/2021 08:41

martha haha!!

meadow I’m thinking nice gently labour bringing on thoughts for you. Fingers crossed it’s soon. Xx

Off to the gym in about 10 mins then have dds 2 year check at 11.

Ds essentially refused to sleep last night. V unlike him. But he was awake until 1130. And up for the day at 6. So he’s going to be loads of fun today 🙄

Am still lusting after boots from Fairfax and favour. But know it’s not realistic. Must stop looking.

This week is just the week that keeps on giving.

Household member of the childminder has tested positive 😬 childcare currently unclear for next week, CM should be able to work if negative as has a separate building, but I feel horrible as a parent if I send my children to her… trying to look into alternatives but if she works, our work will say we have to use her and be at work all day. Can’t take annual leave.

Got another job interview lined up too.

Trying to be frugal and cut down the car journeys to save fuel at the moment.

Bought some outside candy cane lights for Christmas. DC will love them. Not essential though 😂

MeadowHay · 08/10/2021 12:56

Hah yes doctors and shops are two of DD's fave role plays atm but unfortunately she usually wants me to be the lead role of doctor or shop worker! At least I can stay seated in those games though as you say. At DM's now and she is playing with her for me for a bit now so I can have a rest phew.

Spends : £5ish Tesco on groceries. Need to remember to take them home from DM's house on our way back!

Midwife coming later today, have decided to decline the sweep though. Will have one next week if still no baby.

Love Good luck with the job interview, sorry about the childcare dilemma. FWIW I would definitely send DD in those circs.

Em Oh no, hope DS isn't too grumpy today! Will he have a cat nap maybe to perk him up at some point?

Mrsmadevans · 08/10/2021 17:17

Meadow l don't blame you refusing the sweep either. If l had my time again l would have much less interference from everyone tbh. Good luck with the baby , it won't be long before you are holding baby in your arms 🤗
Spent 13 in Lidl , 65 in Asda
bought another small oil radiator for 23 , trousers and shirts for DH

She going to make us cheese toasties tonight and l can't wait 🤗

ememem84 · 08/10/2021 17:50

meadow nope. No naps. Ds doesn’t believe in naps anymore. His words. 😮

Evening all thank god it’s Friday I have quit work in my head at least 20 times this week lol. Dd car part has arrived and dh will tow it to a relatives garage tomorrow dd still hasn’t spoken to me but has spoken to dh. Disappointed she ignored everyone’s offer to take her to the university house and she has been doing online lessons she’s also told dh she hasn’t been working the last few weeks as unwell and she has a zoom meeting today with her manager she is forever going home sick anyway which is another reason I was trying to get rid of the car to encourage her to get a different job near university. It’s over half an hour commute I personally think it’s anxiety being away from the boyfriend not work

I initially thought it was anxiety as she doesn’t hang out with her old friends who worked there and felt left out hearing about there plans nights out etc they are polite to her she just doesn’t socialise with them anymore as he doesn’t trust her to go out without him and they got fed up of him tagging along but she was awful a few weeks ago when we had her tyres fitted the tech was late so not done when she finished work and she was so anxious and agitated I think because of his reaction to her being late home they were clearly having a tiff and I am sure she was snap chatting the tech fitting them probably as proof as to where she was
Waiting to hear from dh if she’s been sacked given a warning or offered more counselling

Spends today will be a euro million ticket.

Lovemaltesers · 08/10/2021 19:04

Flowers alfie

Both DH and I bought a euro millions ticket today. We decided we wouldn’t be greedy, and £400k would do us nicely and had a chat over the washing up over how we would spend it 😂

CM is negative, so the DC are going back to her next week as long as she stays well. To be fair, their teacher could be a close contact, and we wouldn’t know. I’m just twitchy as I’m hearing about it spreading through families at the moment. “Living with covid” is 😬

Unescorted · 08/10/2021 19:06

Hi All ...especially our new peeps.

meadow ....soooooo soon. Hope it all goes well & no sweep is needed.

The energy prices are quite scary..... I worry about the commercial ones as well b/c that cost will all get added to the overall cost of goods.

Heat source pumps are amazing & coming down in price. If you have a small garden you will need an air source pump which needs some electricity to run, but less than the cost of heating your house. Ground source pumps need more space and cost more to install, but once they are in they just tick over. The other thing to do is insulate your house. In terms of money spent vs money saved it is the most cost effective.

wolf sending you healing vibes.

Alfiemoon1 · 08/10/2021 19:30

We always seem to have paid a lot compared to others for our gas and electricity was able to reduce our monthly payment and we are in credit I am hoping it doesn’t go up more than we were originally paying and our predicted annual usage is less as we have had a new boiler new windows and have used a hot tub this year which is now unplugged. But it is shocking the amount the prices are going up

HumbugWhale · 08/10/2021 19:32

I've been researching air source heat pumps too, dh has wanted one for ages. They are expensive but I think it makes sense to do it sooner rather than later so we get maximum gain from it!

Monthstogo21 · 08/10/2021 20:30

Thanks for welcome. Energy prices are scary. Been watching smart meter like a hawk. 4p to boil kettle. 😁

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/10/2021 20:50

Ooof surprising hotel Bill as didn’t realise it was not pay in advance. £437

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/10/2021 20:53

Will be hammering the savings this month
Date of 29 Oct to move

northender · 09/10/2021 07:00

Enjoy Hoyt life despite the unexpected hotel bill.
Hope your back improves quickly wolf
I've just googled heat source pumps unescorted and will pass that tip on to dh who has been researching options. We had a new boiler installed last year which was probably bad timing but could you run them alongside each other?
Meadowhay good for you re the sweep. I agree with Mrs I think intervention happens too quickly now.
Managed to do everything but study on my study day yesterday! I had a work crisis which was of my doing so I had to sort it, then went to my best friend's dad's funeral which was lovely & good to catch up with people. Went to a folk concert in Liverpool last night. Was great, small venue, table seating, covid/vaccination status checked so felt very safe.
Today dd and I are going to Ullswater for the day with a friend to do some paddle boarding & then a walk. Will give petrol money and possibly buy cake, but low cost apart from that.
Have a good Saturday everyone

northender · 09/10/2021 07:06

Fingers crossed life for your new date
alfie no idea what advice to give, but feel so much for you, stay strong.
