We are getting our bathroom refitted so spends are +++ I am keeping everything crossed that it goes to plan as nothing usually does in this house and the thought of no bathroom for any length of time is terrifying me.

Unescorted sorry to hear about your dad's decline Flowers How's your mum coping with it?

Lovemaltesers · 29/09/2021 13:01

So sorry to hear about DDad unescorted

I’ve never been that impressed with gnocchi. Does that make me weird? Grin

The job interview is with a totally random department. I applied to try out the full online tests, and then did a cut and paste examples job. Now I need to find out a bit more, so I don’t come across as a stupid idiot!

MeadowHay · 29/09/2021 17:07

Euuurgh I'm poorly with the cold that DD and DH have both had for 6 days and neither are better yet. Really hope this baby stays put until we've all recovered, I'm now worried about labouring with a bad cold Sad. Currently laying in bed feeling sorry for myself...

Spends: £60 driving test. Will be my 3rd attempt fml. It's my anxiety just totally messed them up for me and I do crazy things I've never done in a lesson before Confused. Couldn't get booked in til Feb ffs either

I love gnocci! Yum.

It is difficult to say Born she is not always on the same planet as the rest of us. She gets really fixated / stressed / paranoid by minor things that are unlikely to come about, but is totally unfazed by really major things.

Meadow DD had a really grim cold that seemed to last for ages. There are some nasty bugs about that aren't The Lurgy. Hope you feel better soon.

The food shortages have finally hit around here - unable to get spuds, including oven chips. I think everyone must be filling their moonshine stills for Christmas. DH ended up getting random fishy ready meal.

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/09/2021 19:29

pCR booked here probably not C but cough has developed

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/09/2021 19:37

marthasmum · 29/09/2021 21:30

So sorry to hear that unescorted. Hope the cooking took your mind off it.
We are doing a sponsored walk this Sunday for the alzheimer society as my dad is in the early stages. My mum has done amazingly well with fundraising. Apparently my dad keeps forgetting what it’s for which is a bit ironic! Plan was for all of us to go including kids but it may just be me and DS2 at this rate.
meadow I’m sure they’ll sort it, there’s no way they wouldn’t pay you, but I understand how financial stuff could get you into a spin.

HumbugWhale · 29/09/2021 21:53

Hope you feel better soon Meadow, being ill when pregnant is rubbish, you can't take any of the good medicine! Think I am now getting the cold the dcs have had too.

Also have a fairly big quote to fix my car. Might get the urgent bit done and delay the less urgent bit for a while. Will get another quite also.

I want to get these but can't think of anyone who would appreciate them like myself so maybe I'll be treating myself Grin

Bornlazy · 30/09/2021 06:05

Unescorted that sounds quite like my dm. It's very frustrating when you are trying to focus on the big things in life and they keep getting sidetracked by trivial stuff, but I suppose ultimately it might help her get through this.

Meadow hope you feel better soon.

Life 🤞for a negative test.

Tesco delivery coming today £105. Bathroom so far has cost £1800 and still lots to get.

Unescorted · 30/09/2021 06:37

I think it is a denial thing - focus on the things she has always had an issue with. Her sils - my aunts, solicitors - who she instructed, being scammed by anyone ringing her. Ddad's health people now ring on his mobile or my brothers. She is convinced that the medical staff are trying to kill him because they dropped around a just in case kit. The list of nefarious people is endless.

life hope it is a -ve. and teh cold / cough does one soon.

Have a lovely day people.

Lovemaltesers · 30/09/2021 07:47

🤞 for a negative life

Dreading work today, work is being piled on and it’s my short day. Leaving my office for lunch is now officially in place! even if I do sit in the car in the cold

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/09/2021 07:49

I got one today for a house warming present happier Wink spreading the Spicery joy.
£21 summat

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/09/2021 07:51

Do it love, protect your break.
This bug is shit as ds shown no sign of getting better.
Stress work here more so by balancing home and work and ramp up to December
Also need to food plan and do ds birthday

grannycake · 30/09/2021 09:07

@unescorted Sorry your going through this with your Dad (&Mum). You are probably correct in assuming denial on your Mum's part. When my FIL was dying (inoperable brain tumour) my MIL and SIL were refusing the morphone offered in case he bacame addicted. He was in the last stages and a lot of pain. My DH and I had to intervene and have some very difficult conversations. Flowers

Unescorted · 30/09/2021 10:46

grannycake it is exhausting isn't it. We have not told either of them that the pain patches are morphine. I am sure the Social Media Ethics Committee would take a view but I no longer care.

Lovemaltesers · 30/09/2021 12:10

Unfortunately today hasn’t worked out well for going out on my lunch break. I have shut the door, will continue eating and will put my unhelpful face on if anyone dares to come in! Normally I really don’t mind, but just had enough.

Thank goodness only a couple more hours to go!

grannycake · 30/09/2021 12:20

@unescorted I'm sure that's the best decision - my MIL & SIL could not think clearly because of their grief. My DH was obviously also grieving but he was also angry with them as my FIL was obviously in great pain. Take care of yourself - it's not a good place to be in and you will need all your strength in the days ahead

MeadowHay · 30/09/2021 12:33

Thinking of you Unescorted. Flowers

Spends: £3 playgroup. Not long got back and that's me done for the today, DD will just have to spend the PM in front of the telly unfortunately because I have nothing else left in me now. Blanket, paracetamol and hot drinks for me this PM. Feel bad but she just won't play alone and what can I do, I need to rest. DH and DD both been ill for a whole week, DD is a bit better but not recovered and DH just seems the same still. He's been working the whole time and says some of the patients he's been seeing have been considerably less unwell than him lol poor thing. Hoping I get rid of it quicker though eek.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/09/2021 16:23

You say about ethics but someone has to have the clarity of mind to make decisions in the interests of the patient. Sometimes them not knowing as a conscious decision of their advocate is the best course of action for all

In less clinical terms do what it takes to get you all through and bollocks to the rest

Unescorted · 30/09/2021 17:15

love i hope you day got better.

meadow my 2 spent many an hour in front of the TV. One of them is now at Oxf Uni and the other is happy doing his STEM A levels.

life & Granny thanks - it is hard to know what is for the best, although I suspect it is not going to be much longer. He is deteriorating quite quickly now.

Happierwithouthim · 30/09/2021 20:39

@Unescorted

Aaaaaaand I am back. Thanks for the lovely messages. Dad is really unwell now. It has been a sad week prepping the kids for the inevitable.

Love sorry you didn't get the job but good luck with the next interview.

Meadow the employment law while on maternity is quite strong & well tested so as Mrs says it is most likely a blip.

em The All Blacks aren't all that. Even someone elses kids birthday party with added Haribo and Coke is more fun.

I was UberMum last night - I promised the kids gnocchi with macNcheese sauce. All fine except there was no gnocchi in any of the 4 supermarkets I tried. It would have been easier to get fuel. So I made the gnocchi from scratch. Surprisingly easy - but messy. Flour everywhere.

Anyway another day at work..... see you all later.

Super work unescorted
Happierwithouthim · 30/09/2021 20:44

Movie with dc and open fire, I napped some bit of it on the couch and will be having an early night

Lovemaltesers · 30/09/2021 21:17

If I was unwell and pregnant too, I doubt I would have even left the house unless I had to eg work, so you did well meadow. Some days the tv has to do it’s magic.

Sorry to hear about your Ddads rapid decline unescorted Flowers

I really hope I have PMT Grin so stressed and fed up today. Will try and be cheerier tomorrow.

Mrsmadevans · 30/09/2021 21:24
