Thanks em.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/09/2021 11:30

New washer arrived. Thought I paid to get old one removed and this plumbed in but not on the order. Never mind council is cheaper and I can add stuff on to save a tip run. Dh job for this afternoon and I will go out. I can plumb a washer before all the feminist pounce on me but I can’t move it as not allowed to move heavy things

Gensola · 04/09/2021 13:40

We did a long walk, frugal lunch of leftover rice made into egg fried rice with peas and ham.
Did a meal plan for this week from the Green Roasting Tin book - all one pot or one roasting tray so nice and easy and they look yum. Off to Lidl for the Big Shop 😁
DCat is unwell - sneezing and running a temp. Last time he did this I paid £80 for a vet to tell me he had a cold and to “keep an eye on him” so going to leave it for now to see if he improves.

Meals:
Baked gnocchi with peppers, tomatoes and ricotta
Aubergine and fennel gratin with goat cheese and walnuts
Fake chicken and spicy lentil bake
Home made bean burgers with caprese salad
Leek and mushroom puff pastry “tart”

marthasmum · 04/09/2021 14:00

Thanks em
You are being very chilled life about the new washer, that would have peed me off
tayto hope DCat is Ok, vets is so expensive.
Did a shop in cheap good shop (the food warehouse) today for snacks and freezer bits and bought DDog a toy string of sausages for £2 which she loves and has practically destroyed already. £48 on that (to last 2 weeks), £51 Tesco delivery (fresh stuff), £44 fruit and veg delivery, £29 butcher (will also last two weeks). Sounds a lot but overall I’m spending less than I did.
DSs back to football this week so I am back to driving them around all weekend. But good to see them out and about. Took DS1 for new football boots and walking boots, £107. He’s finally having a growth spurt and is size 8 so bigger than me Smile
Spendy but worth it as he’s been down in the dumps and uncommunicative but opened up end had a chat. Nothing like spending money on teenagers to make them happy 😂
We had a coffee then and he frugally suggested we go to greggs instead of next door costa so £5 for coffees and bakes for us both. Have been up since 06.30 as I did an early online assessment for one of the students in practice, need to make sure I get time back.
I think I need to make myself post every time I spend as it all adds up…
Happy Saturday everyone

Happierwithouthim · 04/09/2021 14:17

Life Grin none of us are going to jump on you Smile

Busy productive morning
€7 rubbish bag & recycling bag at waste crowd, if you saw how I crammed 3 black bags into one, I could barely lift it Wink
€13.20 on car wash, newspaper & bottle of water
€21.20 on last of back to school stationery & a book
€9.88 on one last school book, out of stock in local shop so paid postage just to get it, rather than another trip to town

Wolfcub · 04/09/2021 14:44

Happierwithouthim · 04/09/2021 16:31

Congratulations mrsmadevans to you both, sounds like a lovely celebration! You've 12 months to convince him Wink

I spent €78.42 in Dunnes last night used €39 of vouchers to get it for that price. €34 of this was on gym leggings for me, socks for ds & crop tops for dd. €12 on dog food & remainder on groceries.

Wolfcub · 04/09/2021 16:35

Congrats Mrs

Paprika chicken is cooked and has done three restrained portions for two so all bagged up ready for fridge and freezer when it's cool. Shopping meal planning done for Wednesday onward next week so next weekend will make a double batch of slow cooker beef bourginion. then I know I'll have a weeks worth of good meals in the freezer plus whatever the hell is lurking in there from eons ago

Taytocrisps · 04/09/2021 17:11

Thanks for the new thread em

life I wouldn't have a clue how to plumb in a washing machine, so there'll be no judgement from me.

Gen that cookery book sounds interesting although I might see if there's a meat version. Fingers crossed for DCat. Mine seems to be on the mend.

martha good to connect with DTeen.

Happy anniversary Mrs! Your anniversary tea sounds lovely. Enjoy your meal.

Paprika chicken sounds tasty Wolf. Is it a slow cooker recipe or a normal oven recipe? I don't have a slow cooker but if you can cook it in the oven, I'd love the recipe - that's if you don't mind. Well done on your batch cooking.

Unescorted · 04/09/2021 17:28

Thanks Em

Congrats Mrs

Life I like your style. I have a similar attitude to my bike breaking. I could, but it is so much easier to get someone else to do it. They have a similar attitude to cooking.

We are having a really low spend week ... less than £10 so far. The meal combinations are getting more random.

Happierwithouthim · 04/09/2021 17:29

If washing machine is going into same location as last one you would tayto except they're super heavy. Well my one weighs a tonne anyhow.

Esb bill came still in credit from switching bonus approx €140, this is the first full bill since I moved so good to get an idea. Electric shower & immersion, hot water will be from oil in the winter though.

Ex has transferred his share of back to school which will improve my bank balance. Current account dropped to under €1k a few weeks ago which frightened me a bit until I steadied myself & remembered that I doubled my savings to credit union & have emergency fund also & no debt apart from mortgage so I'm actually in a good place ConfusedBlush

Happierwithouthim · 04/09/2021 17:32

Madras chicken is my addition to freezer meals this week. I've got chilli con carne & creamy tomato chicken in there too.
I've bought yellow sticker chicken burgers & stuffed pork steak too & beef strips so plenty there to work with.

I was eyeing up glass storage tubs for freezer last night in Dunnes but they seemed rather bulky and they hadn't smaller ones in stock.

ememem84 · 04/09/2021 17:50

Hawaiian chicken is a winner. Served with rice, cucumber slices, grated carrot, fresh pineapple, wraps. Yum.

Kids ate so much.

Tayto the paprika chicken is a hairy bikers diet recipe for the stove top. I've adapted it for the slow cooker. Looks pretty successful, smells excellent, proof of whether I've nailed it will be in the tasting tomorrow

Wolfcub · 04/09/2021 18:17

goodfoodandredshoes.blogspot.com/2019/09/hairy-dieters-paprika-chicken.html?m=1

This website seems to have faithfully copied the recipe Tayto

Wolfcub · 04/09/2021 18:18

Unescorted I'd love a list of what you've eaten this week

Taytocrisps · 04/09/2021 19:02

Thanks Wolf I've copied that link.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/09/2021 19:18

The connection is the easy bit. As happier says it the weight of the machine and the pipes and just short enough to be faffy and difficult

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/09/2021 19:18

£81 aldi
