Hello everyone fell off the thread again. Really need to try harder to post more often to keep me accountable.

Hope you stay well Sing and you're right at least that's it over with.
Covid has went a bit crazy here in Scotland since the schools went back 3 weeks ago. Its everywhere. I know so many people who have it, lots more than I ever did before. It's having a terrible effect on staffing our hospitals. I have never known our ward to be so short staffed ever and it's not even winter yet 🙈 Hopefully it will burn itself out 🤞

life is your house move still going ahead?

Hope everyone else is ticking along and staying frugal.

BananaMilkshakeWithCream · 08/09/2021 17:24

NSD today 😀 Have been doing well so far this month regarding food. Normally spend about £450 (which includes takeaways). This month have spent £80 as we’ve set ourselves the challenge to eat up everything in the fridge/freezer/cupboard. Twelve days since payday and not a single takeaway has been had and we’ve still got enough for at least 8 more nights of food. Will just need to do a top up shop in the last week 😁

ememem84 · 08/09/2021 18:16

Finally after a week of stress I have a venue for ds’ birthday party. Its annoyingly on my birthday. But meh. At least he has a party booked. Phew.

And a bouncy castle. Yay!

Bouncy castle yeah

Yes born, onto the third house now. Hopefully by end October

Wolfcub · 08/09/2021 20:27

So we haven't even gone back to school yet and already he's lost a brand new pair Of school trousers, left new underpants a shirt and tracksuit bottoms at dgps (despite being told to bring everything home and their being nothing else in his wardrobe there) and put and entire new and just labelled winter and summer PE kit in the dirty wash basket. To say I am pissed off js an understatement

Unescorted · 08/09/2021 20:28

That is a big difference banana. Last weeks freezer diving saw some interesting finds for us.... I might start investigating the boxes of left overs that used to be taken into the office for lunch..

Born hopefully the conveyancing solicitors are less swamped.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/09/2021 20:38

That’s bloody annoying wolf
Great frugal work there bananas

I’m passed off with the eeerr I don’t want to eat that brigade. Sick of shopping. Sick

We’re taking the kiddos to the air display tomorrow. Leaving work at lunchtime picking them up from nursery early and will grab a picnic lunch from somewhere and sit on the grass and watch the planes. Yay.

Born it's gathering momentum by the seems of it 💐😔

HumbugWhale · 08/09/2021 22:19

Just finished work, I miss the school holidays! On the plus side I have hardly spent any money all week! Will try and catch up properly tomorrow.

northender · 08/09/2021 23:53

Born I'm not keeping up either!
Covid seems to be rampant among dd's year at college, but she's avoided it so far, hopefully being double vaxed is helping. We are desperately trying to avoid it as dh & I are going away on Monday for a first proper holiday without either of the dc. 4 nights away, so lots of planning has been going on for some lovely meals out thanks to our fab holiday advisor Em. Can't wait now, just keeping everything crossed.
Work has been crazy busy but good, study starts properly tomorrow so will need to knuckle down. I've no idea of our overall financial position at the moment as the hard drive I have the spreadsheets saved on has crashed, I'm lost without them! Will have to get someone to try to retrieve all the data for us

Wolfcub · 09/09/2021 07:10

Life, totally get it. It's the repetitive thankless drudgery

Sing sorry to hear that, hope you all recover quickly

I also miss the school holidays Humbug. I'm not enjoying being back at work

North good luck with the first study day

Flowers life

I often tell DH that I no longer wish to be a grown up. Fed up of all the jobs!

I feel like this too. Ds has spent the last 40 mins refusing to get dressed. Not because he doesn't want to go to school but because he thought it was funny to run about and jump on his bed with no clothes on. Since both girls were ready I shouted to them to get their shoes on as it was time to go. It wasn't anywhere near time to go but he soon got dressed then!
Unescorted · 09/09/2021 18:22

North hope the study went well.

Why is it soooooo busy? Work has gone a bit bonkers this week. I will deserve my week off.

marthasmum · 10/09/2021 06:40

Work is building up to bonkers here too. Next couple of weeks will be very busy.
humbug that’s a very long working day, no wonder you are fed up of kid wrangling
Kick off weds night from DS1 who is always unsettled by return to school. Lots of shouting and swearing at us so no x box yesterday. As a result we had a much nicer evening and a chat and a laugh with all the DC which we haven’t had for ages. Def need to rein in the x boxing which took over in lockdown.
Spendy spendy still…meal sat with DPs extended family who we haven’t seen for ages and meal sun with DS2’s football team. Plus more football fees, another £20 a month and glasses for DS1 £240 (will claim back £150) and possibly lenses for DS2 at £50 pm and £45 physio for me (will claim back). My god having 3 teenagers is expensive! Travel and dog walking also going up as we get back to work. Aggghh.
Have put my health plan payments up to a higher band so I can claim more - at least I know now that I’m using it.
Hope you are ok wolf and hope you enjoy the study north
Happy Friday!

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/09/2021 06:48

Thanks. Been a bit of a tough week but we will get there.

Gensola · 10/09/2021 07:46

£44 on pregnancy multi vitamins and probiotics and vitamin D

Car insurance said they’d email to confirm I’d cancelled my old policy but of course they haven’t so will have to call them again.

The new social care tax plus increased pension contributions will mean I’m taking home a lot less money Sad just when we are trying to sort ourselves out.

Lovemaltesers · 10/09/2021 09:18

First day off in 10 weeks, without the rest of the family home. Missing them already 😂

Off to the shops to do some returns and look for some work clothes.

Feedback from my job interview the other week was a little bit brutal, but I knew I hadn’t done well.

Lovemaltesers · 10/09/2021 09:21

My boss asked about me working an extra day a week. Bit undecided really, so I won’t be opening that discussion again until she does. Could do with the extra ££s really so I should say yes, but want to say no Grin

Gensola · 10/09/2021 09:28

Should say I am not confirmed pregnant but having IVF and currently in TWW Grin and they say you need to take the vitamins throughout.

TheHound86 · 10/09/2021 09:51

I need to join this thread. I have stupidly overspent and I have NO money for the next two weeks. Not sure how I managed it or what I will do about food shopping right now but I really need to sort out my spending.

Wolfcub · 10/09/2021 10:28

Welcome Hound. Maybe speak to gp about a referral to the food bank

I am knackered ans sweating already. Big batch of bourginion prepped and now simmering gently in the slow cooker. One lot of washing on and I've washed all the kitchen cupboards and most of the woodwork. It's very close today. We had flooding in the area last night including in our road but the house was ok this time. Did break out the sandbags though

Going for a walk with a friend at lunch. Need to crack on with some more jobs once I've cooled down
