@Wolfcub

Mrs I have already tried repairing it. It's unrepairable and currently will not lock. Which is not a great situation when the door opens straight onto the street. Ds didn't cause the door issue Love, it's just old and falling to bits.

Oh Love I'm so sorry that's really hard news for you to hear from your mum and a scary thing to be happening with your dad

Oh God Wolf that is just so unlucky. I don't know what to suggest except Gumtree or Facebook Market place ? Hope you find one asap lovely Flowers

Ah just read on wolf. Can a locksmith help to at least get it to lock?

Report
Unescorted · 21/02/2021 17:35

Love it must be hard with the no visiting rules.

wolf is it the lock or the door itself? Changing the lock is fairly straightforward - there are you tube videos to walk you through it. But if the door is collapsing then it is not going to be much help.

The birds have arrived back from their winter homes. First was the wood pigeon in next door's tree, followed by the jackdaws in everyone's chimneys and this morning I was woken up by a proper dawn chorus.

Wolfcub · 21/02/2021 17:39

Unescorted it's the door. There is not enough play in the hinges to get the locks to relocate back in the frame. They are the oldest type of hinges - door must be 20+ years old. The screws holding the hinges to the door have gone and have no purchase on one hinge, same for 2 of the catches

Sorry I'm just dipping in and out atm. I'm working overtime and don't have much free time. Don't have much news either. I gave the kitchen a much needed deep clean today. Dinner will be an easy peasy dinner - roast chicken with stuffing and bacon, baby new potatoes and sweetcorn.

DD is with Ex this weekend.

We had lovely sunshine all day. It's been feeling like spring all week - blue skies, sunshine, milder temperatures and slightly longer evenings. Today I opened all the windows to air the house. The cats were happy - hopping in and out of the window at their leisure. They're tired now after all that fresh air and exercise.

I'm having a Whatsapp call with a friend later. It will be good to catch up.

Anyone else watching 'Firefly Lane' on Netflix? It's very chick flicky but I'm enjoying it Grin.

Today's spends €15.66 on a top up shop in Centra.

I'm expecting my car insurance quote in the door any day now. Hoping it's considerably cheaper than last year's quote which was complicated by the fact that I'm driving Ex's car and it was my first year to be fully insured on it in my own name.

I also need to get an eye test soon and buy new glasses.

We're getting there with packing...feeling quite organised with lists and where everybody and everything needs to be on the day.

Love your poor dad. And mum. And you. What a lot to process in a very short space of time ❤️

Mrs i love your regular musings whilst the snooker is on! Although I'd never choose to watch it, if it's on I get rather in to it. That and shortmat bowls 😂

February:
NSDs: 13/28
Groceries: £374.49/£390
Everything else: £275.95/£350

Busy day today, finally gave in and waxed my own eyebrows Hmm it wasn't as tricky as I thought it might be and didn't hurt too much, usually I get them done every other week in a brow bar place, and for obvious reasons it hasn't been open since we went into tier 4 back in mid December.

I also dyed my own hair, again I would usually go to the salon, but the grey hairs were taking over and I needed to do something, it's a little darker than I would usually go for buts it OK.

Spent £39 today, on a new 10.5 tog duvet( Dh complaining that the 13.5 is making him too hot and he's tossing and turning all night) and some cleaning stuff from Home Bargains, I wasn't planning on the duvet purchase and although I needed the cleaning stuff but it could have waited until after payday on Friday. If anyone has
a natural stone worktop - I really recommend the Fabulosa cleaner for Marble and Granite it smells great and doesn't damage natural stone, I've been using the HG one which is ok but costs £4.50 a bottle and has no smell, Fabulosa is a quid!

We had pork chops for dinner - they were reduced by 30% in Aldi and so I fished them out of the freezer and served with Honey mustard sauce, green veg and mash, was very nice 👍🏻 dd made some chocolate orange cupcakes so we warmed those up for desert and eeked out the last of a tub of ice cream between us.

Sorry to hear about your Dad love - it must be such a difficult time for your family Thanks

Mrs - is it crazy that seeing you photos of the flooding actually makes me miss Wales
So much, my Dad is Welsh and up until recently my Granny lived in Lampeter, my plan is to move to The west coast of Wales
As soon as The mortgage is paid off, ( which could be anywhere between 12-20
Years).

Hope you've all enjoyed the weekend, or at least got some R & R.

Flowers Love. The situation with your dad must be so hard.

Fear that's a good bargain on the camping stuff.

I can't remember who posted dresses links but they're very pretty.

Wolf probably a daft idea but if you can't afford a new door would padlocks and bolts do temporarily?

I've had a few NSD's then had a bit of a fail today inspecting the fridge and found some mouldy stuff. I hate waste. Nothing much going on today only house chores, I've nearly finished. Yesterday I gave myself a haircut. I haven't washed it since so I've yet to find out if it was a big mistake or not.

I do a lot of things myself camden but waxing is not one of them! I’d maybe attempt a bikini wax if I was desperate. But never eyebrows. Never ever.

I just had to go for it, I was starting to look like one of the Gallagher brothers, I didn't go too crazy but the woman that I go to usually trims them to get a perfect shape and I'm 100% not that brave.

I had a go at a diy bikini wax once when I was about 18, it was a disaster and I felt like I'd just given birth I was so bruisedConfused

Oh I’d lose an eyebrow for sure if I did it myself. Mine need doing. I usually go every month for eyebrow and bikini. My beautician has reopened (hooray!) but can I get an appointment?!?! No.

I feel betrayed. Catface usually sleeps on bed with me. Tonight she has chosen dds room. She’s curled up (and is snoring) on the spare duvet on the floor next to dds cot. Dd is fast asleep (also snoring) with one hand through the cot bars. It’s too cute for words. If I thought I could get a picture I would buy do not want to risk waking Dd up.

She’s been sleeping terribly the last few nights. She has a bit of a cold/teething or both. I was in with her at 3 this morning. She coughs and wakes herself up. So had to resettle and I ended up sleeping on the floor (with spare duvet) which was preferable to actually sleeping in our room as ds decided to come in at 130. And between then and Dd waking he’d gone back to sleep but was repeatedly kicking me in the back.

love so sorry you're having to go through this, it must be heartbreaking Flowers
Em I use Mary Berrys recipe for HCBs and they seem to work well.

Dh & I abandoned the walk idea yesterday due to wind & rain, but rescheduled for today. Had a lovely riverside/park walk and a fabulous unfrugal take out brunch (£16). However I'll wait to go back when we can sit in as my choice wasn't made for eating on a park bench!
Went to see mum which was tough as she is feeling quite low and teary at the moment, but was glad to see dd & me.
Managed to get more birthday planning done for Friday.

North I have birthday cake to do for Friday too.

Wolf that sounds terminal. As Mrs says - would it be covered by the insurance?

I am thinking of Felicity Cloake for HCB flavours but use a Tangzhong method to get a soft crumb. It requires a calculator, but is worth the effort.

I am desperate for my salon to reopen. I am a very hairy person (black hair and very pale skin!) and I usually get my eyebrows and upper lip threaded every 10 days and bikini wax every 4 weeks, arms waxed every 4-6 weeks. I miss it so much. Feel like a gorilla. On thé plus side I’m warmer 😂

My jeans got a hole in the inner thigh so ordered two pairs - I get jeggings as they’re comfy but they don’t last. Luckily only £19 a pair. If only I weren’t so thick of thigh! They always go there.

I'm the same - dark hair and pale skin, it's hot to be the worst combo. I get a full leg &bikini wax every month, usually the Saturday after payday, as it happens I haven't had it done since October as November was Lockdown 2.0 and I could get an appointment for early December. I really don't want to take the shaving route. I guess I'll just have to wait it out, already feeling sorry for the woman that will have to sort me out eventually!

Love I'm sorry you are having such an awful time right now. Your poor mum must be feeling so lost too ❤️

Nsd yesterday and only spend the day before was diesel £40. I absolutely hate putting fuel in my car not sure why really. I think I'm always scared I'll so something wrong like put the wrong fuel in, or spill it everywhere. I'm also always worried that I'll suddenly find that I've forgotten my purse. Think it must be all the warning signs making me paranoid.

Wolf that's terrible re your door not just the money but the urgency too. Hope you get it fixed soon.

em one of our cats sleeps in with ds2 every night. He puts a blanket against the wall for coziness and the cat stretches right out on the bed beside him.

I always associate daft apeth with Yorkshire. Is it a Welsh thing too mrs?

I've never had my eyebrows waxed I just pluck them myself. I find as I've got older (I'm 48) that they have become more sparse at the edges.

Have a good day everyone. Hoping for a nsd myself.

I epilate my eyebrows and top lip when I can't go for a wax. It's not as painful as it sounds

Managed to trick the door into locking last night. Not sure how, I think I snuck up on it and took it by surprise. I am now not unlocking it for anything. So we can get in and out of the house (just about as other door also dodgy and doesn't always lock) but can't set the alarm.

Making enquiries about new doors. Also first day back at work is decidedly blah
