I used this meatloaf recipe
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/italian-meatloaf

Kerching, em! Well done.

Saw the most delightful 10 week cocker spaniel puppy today while buying paint - mmm, charcoal and tan, amber eyes. Made me quite broody. Then remembered that part of the reason I am buying paint is because of the chewed stair rails and scratched doors, now behind us as our lad has grown out of his destructive chewing phase.

Wolfcub · 20/02/2021 18:19

Tightwad I think mine was also a GF recipe at one time but is super easy.

Run the back of a knife over strips of streaky bacon to stretch them a bit thinner. Use these to line a loaf tin - width ways so the bacon hangs over the side

Chop up any leftover bacon add to mince (4-500g).

Mix up an 85g pack of stuffing mix with a beef stock cube and 300ml hot water from the kettle.

Mix the mince mix with the stuffing mix when the stuffing is cooled a bit.

Pack into loaf tin and fold bacon ends over the top

Cook at 180 for about 40 mins. Serve with mash and gravy

Use leftover slices fried in a pan until hot as a burger in a bun

More spring cleaning done! Dh has got quite into it, he's done the bathroom then got all the beds out and vacuumed behind them. I dusted everywhere and sorted out a pile of things dd1 has outgrown that can go in the loft for dd2.

Also made frugal soup using 2 leeks, 2 slightly sad looking potatoes and the end of a bag of spinach. It went down very well!

Wolfcub · 20/02/2021 18:37

Fishy pie is in the oven. Dishwasher is on. Kitchen is clean. There'll just be plates, cutlery and pie dish to wash at the end of it.

Well done on the spring cleaning Snuggly

Windscreen wipers changed on the car ready for MOT as one side was leaving streaks

Well done Em

I won £2 something on euromillions. Really wished it had been a win as I've heard a huge restructure has been announced at work while I've been off and I'm a bit concerned about my position

Love that's a lovely thing getting a photo book for your dad

Unescorted well done on the orchid revival

Wolf keeping everything crossed for you 💐
Love ah bless you that's lovely 💐
AHH thank you Gen I just couldn't do anything else tbh. Four hours away is a long way , l think that is a good idea to move the surviving parent to your area it's so hard if they are not near and there are always appts or treatments to go to , it gets harder the less mobile they are too 💐
Well done Snuggly and DH
Great work with your green fingers Unescorted😃👏
Em yay! 👏
Been really busy here, weather has been so bad we has a hell of a job getting to MumBobs this morning. The rivers were all up and the roads were Closed , we had to drive all around the place to get through. Will put pics on now

Love - it is really soothing for people with dementia to have things that remind them of the past. I am sure it will be doing him a world of good to have the photos. Try not to be disappointed if he doesn't recognise everyone in the photos because his memory paths are damaged by the disease.

Wolf - that is a worry. I need to cling on for 2 years and then it will be ok. Ds will have finished his A levels and we will be able to put our plan into action. My sweet spot will be in 6 years - max redundancy payout and pension increase will be less than the reduction in redundancy multiplier. The complications of a final salary pension.

Unescorted · 20/02/2021 19:41

Bloody hell Mrs

Mrsmadevans · 20/02/2021 19:46

They were the Llanfoist Bridge Abergavenny and the A40 outside Crickhowell. It seems like no time at all l was putting pics on of the floods last year!
Also after MumBob we went shopping to Lidl in Merthyr because we couldn't get home any other way! Got home ok then though but had a lot of water on the road . It hasn't rained since 1 here so hope the river goes down and roads are clear . We'll see 😃. Lidl receipt 🤗£27

Oof water water everywhere

Saw a 8 week old puppy today
Can't afford the £££ for one though and rental says no

Lovemaltesers · 20/02/2021 19:56

That’s a lot of water mrs. I’m also always in awe of how much you do for mumbob too

That doesn’t sound good on the job front wolf . Sorry you didn’t win the jackpot!

I was able to label some of the photos in the book eg love, Dmum and loveDH. I’m hoping someone might sit with him and talk about the photos? I’m genuinely worried that by the time we are eventually able to visit, he won’t remember who we are at all. Once he is out of hospital it now sounds like Dmum will be able to visit a care home but that could be 2-3 months.

Wolfcub · 20/02/2021 20:02

Bloody hell Mrs that looks horrendous

Mrsmadevans · 20/02/2021 20:13

Thank you Love it's really kind of you to say so . It must be so hard for you and your parents, it would be my worst nightmare 💐
Life could you have a puppy from a refuge home, it's a lot of money for a rehomed one as well though. I think they were quoting £250 at my local Dog refuge. I suppose it's all to help run the refuge as well though. They have a dog they had adopted and she was poorly after a week and the vets bill was £2500 they are collecting to help out for the treatment. It's a lot of money they didn't have ins on her but still you don't expect to pay that She's on the mend thankfully 🤗

Mrsmadevans · 20/02/2021 20:23

Wolf l was petrified honestly l will not be doing that again!

Unescorted · 20/02/2021 20:29

Love - Memory is an odd thing. My DGM could remember people one day and then the next had no idea who they were. We just bimbled along with her. If we challenged her she became quite distressed. It was difficult for my dad and aunt. There are some amazing care homes - not necessarily the flash looking ones. There is one in Sussex (I think) that involves the residents in the running of the home as much as they safely can - making people cups of tea, prepping dinner, gardening, setting the table, sorting the washing. Just like they would if they were at home. It is a fantastic model of care.

Gensola · 20/02/2021 20:44

mrs DH and I stayed in an air bnb very near Crickhowell just before Christmas in 2019 it was so beautiful. One of the best holidays we have had. We brought the cat as the cottage allowed pets and did loads of walking and eating in pubs. Sob.

Mrsmadevans · 20/02/2021 20:56

Unescorted that home sounds absolutely wonderful ❤️
Gen it's gorgeous here l do appreciate it except when it floods 😂
Things are looking up for us all now you wait , we will be out of this lockdown very soon 🤗👏❤️💐

Unescorted · 20/02/2021 21:13

Mrs I wish they would replicate it everywhere, but it needs residents to be considered as individuals. The CQC grade it poorly because it doesn't tick the lowest common denominator boxes.

I hope we are out of lockdown soon. I want to go back to the ways of having a random thought of action and being able to carry it out there and then. And collective experiences......

ememem84 · 20/02/2021 21:29

Is anyone else getting a “checking browser”
Message before connecting to mn?

SingToTheSky · 20/02/2021 21:34

I was earlier em they had some attack. It’s ok for me now. Not something that affects users’ data etc but a “denial of service” hack type thing (had no idea that was a thing).

Unescorted · 20/02/2021 21:35

There have been issues with a DDOS attack em. I was getting them earlier, but it is OK now... I am on the laptop. Maybe the App is still having issues.

ememem84 · 20/02/2021 22:00

Ah.

Fearofawelshplanet · 20/02/2021 22:06

Hope your okay Mrsmadevans, when I saw flood warnings for Wales again I shuddered. Its rained here in Swansea all week, day and night. Off to Lidl and co op tomorrow will report back
NSD. Lots of make do and mend though, fab productive day! So very happy.

Mrsmadevans · 20/02/2021 23:05

Thank you Fear it hasn't rained since 1 l think it's gone down like hell now thankfully, it goes down as quickly as it comes up 🤗
Well done on your productive day! 🤗
Unescorted they don't value the benefits and dignity it gives the residents but to me l realise you cannot bear that level of care 🤗💐👏

Mrsmadevans · 20/02/2021 23:06

Bear = Beat 🤗

northender · 20/02/2021 23:45

I like the sound of the meat loaf wolf, will try that.
