Tightwad it's doable with only 8 days left , plenty of slo cooker stews, soups, porridge , baked pots , pasta dishes. You will need milk and bread and any pet food and toilet rolls of course , l wish you good luck lovely Smile
It is tight this month, all the birthdays , My Mum's, My Dh, my Nephew, My neice , car expenses cost us nigh on a grand this month alone!
We have used up our extra money we saved on not going out , on the car Hmm still needs must ! Smile
Camden l am sure l saw this as a tip for moneysaving somewhere, every week put the shopping back a day. In 7 weeks you have saved a weeek or so it is supposed to go Grin
Gen veg lasagne sounds lovely enjoy it !Smile
Unescorted thank you for finishing the old Fred Smile
Love you deserve the flowers bless you Flowers
Fear l think Lidl is the cheapest out of all the shops now imho. I am going tomorrow Smile
Em we spend £50 a week at least on petrol! Shock
Happier That definitely isn't bad going ! Smile
Happier Gen Sing Apparently , according to the Waitrose programme celery juice is THE next big food trend! I am not sure if l would like it tbh but if it is very good for lots of health problems then great stuff!

ememem84 · 19/02/2021 18:07

mrs the island is only 45sq miles and my cars only done 65k miles in total in 10 years. There’s not too far to drive...!

It’s Friday night I have a very nice Romanian pinot noir and am watching Peter Pan with the dc. We’ve had pizza. Yay.

ememem84 · 19/02/2021 18:09

Oh god. Celery juice makes me want to vomit. Even the thought of it.

In a mad idea one New Year’s Day I had celery cucumber snd apple juice for brunch with a cream cheese and smoked salmon bagel (we were in New York...) I regretted my drink choice. Dh had a “beermosa” (beer with orange slices). I downed it and then had a mimosa.

Bornlazy · 19/02/2021 18:36

Thanks for new thread Wolf i need to try and be more present on this one.

Gen I should have said on the last thread how sorry I am that this cycle didn't work. Best of luck for next time.

Spends today are £36 on Amazon fresh delivery. This is the first one I've ordered so waiting to see if it all arrives. £80 on pocket money for the month split between both ds. I'm a bit haphazard with paying it so I am trying to pay it in advance to get it out the way.

Mrs no wonder you are so much on petrol you have quite a bit of travelling to mumbob's don't you?
I am helping to care for an Aunt at the moment and hate to admit it but I find it so draining. I am trying to be selfless but its so hard. Fair play to you for doing such a good job of it all 👏

Sing did you read the thread about people who had gestational diabetes being offered the vaccine sooner? You've not had yours yet have you?

Mrsmadevans · 19/02/2021 19:19

Em yes of course , l can remember when we visited in 1979 it was small but very beautiful and we drove for miles around the island, Dh wanted to hire a Porshe Grin he wasn't old enough though & we ended up with a Ford Cortina Grin l agree re th eCelery juice it sounds disgusting, much prefer your Mimosa Smile
'very nice Romanian pinot noir and am watching Peter Pan with the dc. We’ve had pizza. ' Sounds like a perfect Friday Em Smile
Born yes it's 16 miles each way plus running around to the dentist , shpping, chemist , Doctors so yes we do about 13 k a year which os mpstly MumBobs mileage . Ahh thank you for the complinment , it is really hard to look after them both but l have to do it l couldn't do anything else , well done to you helping your Auntie. l am sure she is really grateful Flowers

Happierwithouthim · 19/02/2021 19:28

Sing rustiqdenise on Instagram swears by it anyhow

My hoodie from paper press Ireland arrived superb quality might wear tomo it's not suitable for work Wink

Happierwithouthim · 19/02/2021 19:30

My grocery list is very small this week and dc are with their dad this weekend. I'm pushing it out until Monday. And if I've not spent my budgeted €75 I'll put the remainder onto Aldi savings card, my goal is to get it to a weeks free groceries and when I get there maybe a month ShockConfused

SingToTheSky · 19/02/2021 19:35

Love the hoodie happier! :o

SingToTheSky · 19/02/2021 19:37

Might get a purple hair dye soon. Just a box one. Will be pretty subtle as my hair is dark, I CBA to bleach etc. Not like many people will see if it looks crap right 😂

ememem84 · 19/02/2021 19:43

sing do it! I did mine pink a while back. Was awesome. And because the ends of my hair were blonde it really stood out on them. I’m tempted to do a violet/blue over mine.

SingToTheSky · 19/02/2021 19:45

Ooh that sounds good em :) I have done it before and it ends up quite nice but it’s been years since I bothered. I trimmed my hair a bit today though and just need a change. I am sooo bored. Changing my hair might help for a couple of days at least 😁

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/02/2021 20:34

Do it sing
Great hoodie

We've racked up the £££££ this month need to get back under control

Celery is rank so can't imagine juicing it. Bluergh.

Well done unescorted.

Nsd today I think, no £20 birthday money on cards for DC pals.

maddenlightfoot · 20/02/2021 07:59

Morning! I'm in the longest queue for the tip - it hasn't even opened yet! Other than not being able to get rid of a mountain of crap, I think we're doing ok with packing. The removals company are doing a part pack later in the week and we've already unpacked the shed and eaves storage. The bonus of a tiny house and garden is that there's not much space to store excess stuff (remind me of this in a year's time when I've filled garage, loft and sheds with ALL the things!)

February:
NSDs: 12/28
Groceries: £350.16/£390
Everything else: £251.58/350

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/02/2021 08:36

That's literally rubbish. Our tip runs a booking system and it's ace.
I thought we were minimal>>>>>eyes attic and garage post chuck out

northender · 20/02/2021 08:41

Morning. Born I want to be more present on the thread too.....will see how I go.
I know what you all mean about February money wise. It's harder here than January, for sure
We are just going to buy the fresh things we need today and otherwise we'll use what we already have for the next few days. This is in preparation for extravagance next weekend for dh's birthday when we have pasties, cheese, cake and lots of other food indulgence!

A miracle has happened in the northend house this week, ds has tidied and cleaned his bedroom (tiny) and the loft room (bigger) without prompting. When I say tidy, it was a proper declutter with at least 2 bin bags full of rubbish. It has only taken 19 years!! The novelty of having mums super powerful old vacuum cleaner doesn't seem to have worn off yet.

Dd has had a good half term, she spent a lovely day with Granny, went for a few walks with different people, baked, cooked and just generally had a proper break from home school. It's so hard for them, still not knowing how they are going to be assessed for their GCSEs.

Today I think dh and I are going to go out for a walk and maybe treat ourselves to a treat takeaway breakfast from a brunch place in town that we haven't tried out before. Have a good day everyone.

Gensola · 20/02/2021 08:52

Sounds like a lovely day north
mrs you are lovely to do all that, we are quite stressed atm as PILs live a four hour round trip away and have become frail this year, we do most of the care when needed and it takes a whole day just to get there, sort them and get back. We can’t move closer to them because of work but if/when one of them goes we reckon we will need to move the other one closer to us.

maddenlightfoot · 20/02/2021 09:18

A booking system would be so much better! I'm still around 10 cars from the gate 😩

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/02/2021 09:28

Sounds great North.
Bag of stuff to go to Chazza today (scouts room of doom). Tip pile started as well.

SnugglySnerd · 20/02/2021 09:48

I've been spring cleaning too! Did a huge cupboard stock take yesterday and meal planning for next week accordingly. Hopefully we will only have to buy some fruit and yoghurt and stuff.
Have just deep cleaned the kitchen and it looks fab!
Might tackle dd's room in a bit. Need coffee first!

Wolfcub · 20/02/2021 09:51

Flipping heck Madden that would annoy me

Going to have a look through cupboards today for things to donate to the local food bank drive

Walking into town in a bit for bread buns and cake

Tightwad2020 · 20/02/2021 11:46

Declutterers of the world unite! I went to the tip this week as well. Not a huge offload, but I did get rid of a 40 year old step ladder which collapsed beneath me last week - I have some great bruises on my thighs to show for it. Flung it grimly into the relevant skip. That will teach it.

Meatloaf last night was quite nice, but I think there are better things to be done with mince. Will take a family vote on what to do with the other half of the kilo - chilli or ragu. I have enough walnuts to do a walnut pesto for another of our last-week-of-the-month dinners. There's plenty in the cupboards, freezer and fridge, tbh. Even the dog is provided for. But what makes people start to look mournful and feel hard done by is when completely discretionary foods like crisps and Skippy peanut butter run out and I won't replace them until 'pay day' comes around!

DS did his first Deliveroo shift last night - on his pushbike. Earned £20 in 90 minutes and plans to do another shift tonight. Very proud of his determination to keep earning despite the obstacles (this is his third job during the pandemic). I have added helping him buy an ebike to my financial goals this year and he can use it for commuting generally and to boost his delivery productivity.

Wolfcub · 20/02/2021 13:04

£5.60 bakery
£8.44 home bargains on stuff for the food bank that they need but wouldn't be in our cupboards and some sweets for ds for carrying the bag home. My purse is now completely empty of cash money. I was coppering up in home bargains and just had enough change. I was beginning to feel the glares from the queue

Have filled three decent carriers with food bank stuff between the hb shop and a trip through the cupboards. Tried to include a few treat things in there too although I was going to add a packet of little dairy milks only to discover ds had already been in them. Have binned a few things that were out of date (was very annoyed to find an out of date clotted cream Swiss roll I'd clearly hidden from ds!) and had a bit of a stock reshuffle.

Fish pie for tea here. I think the rest of the week will be freezer specials

Tightwad how did you do your meatloaf? I have a really simple recipe which has become a bit of a skint staple for us and it's not only nice on day one but also with leftovers on day 2 fried as a burger

OP posts:
ememem84 · 20/02/2021 14:33

I’m going to need a meatloaf recipe please.

I’ve just won £180. I was in dds room waiting for her to go to sleep when betfair sent me a text with a free bet. I used it on a casino game. And boom. Not bad for a couple of clicks.

Have withdrawn winnings and logged out of account. 😂

Unescorted · 20/02/2021 14:58

Where has today gone already....
Tescos - £30 including acetone nail varnish remover for an art project.
£55 on diesel - which should do a few weeks.

Frugal win of the day (well month) is that I have coaxed my orchid to flower again. It was originally £3 from the bargain shelf and with a little cold weather and some orchard feed it is sending up another flower spike. So if you have an orchid that has dropped its flowers and it's spike is dead don't throw it out.

Lovemaltesers · 20/02/2021 15:21

That was good going em. I won £6.90 on euromillions last night. I had the dream for a few minutes after getting an email notification that I’d won big 😂

Spent £14 getting some of our wedding pictures into a photo book to send to Ddad. They were the last lot of photos of dad with mum, and my family. And everyone is looking nice!

Currently sat on the sofa with my kindle. Can’t really be bothered today.
