I will have a €1.5k emergency fund built up within a few more weeks too amber

The Avantcard offer special loan rates too which the €1k one doesn't Confused

Happierwithouthim · 23/03/2021 19:00

Think a bigger limit would offer protection if I was to book a holiday

Happierwithouthim · 23/03/2021 19:01

@Wolfcub

Well done Bigpaper

Yay Happier

I need to make a divorce decision - do I pay out considerably more to get rid quicker. After three years of carry on I think yes as I am fed up and want to move on. I'd still be getting out with more than 50%

Happier agree with Em what's the apr on spend and cash withdrawal for each

I would wolf re divorce question
northender · 23/03/2021 19:06

BigPaper that's brilliant, well done!
Happier I think it depends on what is the highest balance you are likely to take a CC to. Assuming you are going to pay off in full every month then you need a big enough limit to accommodate your max balance with if possible cashback rewards. We now just have one card , pay it off in full every month and get around £100 a year in cashback
Wolf I think I would pay for the quicker divorce. Don't underestimate the boost that the finality will give you
Hope you're okay with the jab unescorted, dh is having his on Sunday & I'm having my second on Sunday.
Thanks for the positivity, better day today, important meeting tomorrow but feel well prepped & hopefully will manage to stay calm again!
Ds is doing tea tonight. It's the third night of our free (£3 delivery) trial of Hello Fresh. We've been very impressed. Won't be doing it as a regular thing but would consider doing it again at a really busy time. We've also done a cheapo trial of Simply Cook which is also good but you have to do your own food shop!
My next frugal food plan is to grind my own spice mixes. There's a good mill attachment with the Bamix so will use that. Garam masala, curry powder and a fajita mix will be first up.

Mrsmadevans · 23/03/2021 19:07

I don't know Wolf l think if it were me l would think how l would feel in the future when ex Dh is squandering the money l was entitled to . I also think you mat need the extra for your Ds future. I don't know your circumstances but that is what would be on my mind Flowers

Happierwithouthim · 23/03/2021 19:08

Life I wouldn't go crazy will check the rates tomorrow, I don't know why Kbc one is still 0% it was supposed to be for 12 months Grin

Happierwithouthim · 23/03/2021 19:10

North I could use cash back one and put my spending on it every month post mortgage drawdown and pay off monthly in full

Wolfcub · 23/03/2021 19:44

Right solicitor emailed thank you for confirming what I thought.

Mrs I know what you mean and there's a bit of me that thinks he deserves sod all but at the same time I earn considerably more than when we split and whilst I'd rather not be paying him the extra it won't make a massive difference to the monthly payment on the extended mortgage I'd see anyway. And he won't be spending a penny of it it will all go to his creditors. I do need money for ds's future this is very true but I will have to pay 100% of his uni costs and this is part of my motivator for getting the divorce done as I feel I can't safely save for this when a judge might give it to someone else iyswim and also I don't know my outgoings so can't plan

I do feel a bit of relief for sending the email but I'm sure my solicitor is going wtf are you doing woman

I would keep the highest limit only as I agree you never know when you need a big spend.

Hhm tricky wolf. How much longer compare to how much more £ wise. I think you have been through lots of shit (can't believe 3 years). How much longer for slow v £ difference

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/03/2021 19:45

On balance I would get rid of h

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/03/2021 19:45

Ah x post. You did it, ignore me then :)

Wolfcub · 23/03/2021 19:46

Life I think to be honest the removal of the mental load will be worth the extra money

AmberItsACertainty · 23/03/2021 19:47

I didn't realize you were getting divorcedWolf. I'd pay more to get out quicker. I can't stand things hanging over me. Three years is a long time, you need to properly live not just plod on with an unhappy situation. Everything has a price. Ask yourself how much extra you'd have to pay and is your freedom worth that amount?

Lovemaltesers · 23/03/2021 19:57

I’d go with what you decided wolf. I bet at some point when it’s done and dusted, exDH will ask for something and you will have the joy of ignoring it and laughing

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/03/2021 19:57

Fair enough wolf. I would most likely do the same

SnugglySnerd · 23/03/2021 20:43

I think you have done the right thing Wolf.

Unescorted · 23/03/2021 20:48

I would have done the same wolf. He has put you through hell and back - this way you can just ignore all the crap. Also it gives you a line after which you are no longer financially tied so even if he goes wild in the aisles it is not your problem. Do DS hand overs and that is all the interaction you have.

bigpaper that is an achievement. Well done Grin

North so far it has gone really well - the jab itself was painless (and I am such a needle wimp). I have paracetamol for any side effects later. I have the DGoD booked for tomorrow even if I don't need it

ememem84 · 23/03/2021 20:52

@maddenlightfoot

Bigpaper that's a great milestone! Well done! Also to you happier - exciting times ahead!

Em when are you expecting the work to be finished? It'll be great if it's finished in time for summer!

Life well done for finding non-full price branded stuff. Skating t-shirts are particularly ££.

We're having a veggie Brinner tonight.

End of the year. Fingers crossed. We need the permissions to do it first.

The electrics though are done for the moment. Spots in the porch, downstairs heaters on eco tarrif as well as water heater. And fuse box moved. And all the random electrical gubbins in the smal cupboard in downstairs loo has been shifted to inside the wall.

ememem84 · 23/03/2021 20:56

wolf pay more to get rid.

Mrsmadevans · 23/03/2021 21:23

@Wolfcub

Life I think to be honest the removal of the mental load will be worth the extra money
That is fair enough Wolf , if that is how you feel then l agree go for it . You have come to the end of your tether by the seems of it and nothing is worth feeling this badly. You make a new life for you and Ds without your arsewipe of a ExDh hanging in the background. You go girl! Flowers
Mrsmadevans · 23/03/2021 21:25

Unescorted great news lovely , get that DGOD on asap tomorrow Grin
l would sleep in it

Mrsmadevans · 23/03/2021 21:29

Em your house is coming on well you must be so pleased seeing the progress Smile

ememem84 · 23/03/2021 22:02

mrs nothing much has happened if I’m honest. We’ve had the kitchen planned but that’s contingent on the building permission to take a wall down. We’ve had a quote for a couple of new windows. And that’s about it.

Once the permission gets in we’ll be able to really plan and think and choose things. Then the fun of having to move out etc will start. Haha.

Unescorted · 23/03/2021 22:56

I have not told them but I am doing preventative measures - water, paracetamol. sleeping bag and hot water bottle. Still feeling good. I have brought the lap top charger to bed, ds has been told he is doing his own lunch and dh is on the school run. Operation DGoD is a go go. I am channeling my inner lazy arsed bloke.

ememem84 · 24/03/2021 06:43

You forgot the flask of tea.
