Nsd here today. Wahooo.

Unescorted · 24/01/2021 19:54

love are you able to bubble with her? Even though my DH can be a really grumpy arse I would be bereft if he wasn't about and that is after 25 years. It must be so much harder if it is after 40 or 50 years of being together.

Bornlazy · 24/01/2021 21:05

I love to look at snow but I have really bad circulation and cry with the pain in my hands (even as a child) so I tend to avoid it.

Being in a slump is actually helping me from a frugal point of view as I haven't done any online shopping, apart from food shopping, for ages. I just can't be bothered. Every cloud...

Love has your mum accepted carers to help with your dad? Is she worried about not being able to visit him if he's admitted or just generally opposed ? My heart goes out to you all ❤

PeanuttButtaCup · 25/01/2021 01:14

Thank you for welcoming me everyone :).

unescorted I’m currently out of work due to disabilities, so nursery fees aren’t an issue just yet. It’s just nappies/formula milk/extra clothes etc that worries me!.

Thank you amber😊

I’m really sorry to hear about your dad love🎉

Unescorted · 25/01/2021 07:46

Peanut in our area the health visitors have a stash of nappies they can give out to families that need them. I BF DS because it is free and saved on the washing up Grin - I am such a lazy mare!. For DD it was mixed b/c I couldn't get enough milk expressed while I was at work. For the clothes look for a sustainable living group in your area on Facebook.... I found people on ours were more than happy to recycle baby clothes.

I am struggling to find enthusiasm for work today.

SingToTheSky · 25/01/2021 08:07

Do you get healthy start vouchers butta :) they are useful as they can be used on fruit and veg and bottled milk as well as formula.

DS should be eligible for 15 free hours from the term after he turns two as well, we’ve used that for Cagletini :)

Ordered a few bits on Amazon last night, home ed stuff etc

NewPage · 25/01/2021 09:44

Hello everyone, joining the happy club after another lovely MNetter recommendation xx

Unescorted · 25/01/2021 10:55

Hi New welcome.

maddenlightfoot · 25/01/2021 12:07

I've had a splurge today and have hired a rig-doctor for this coming weekend! After all the bed wetting we thought dds mattress could do with a proper deep clean (she's been dry every night since pull-ups back on though... almost a week now!) and we'll give our rugs a clean before moving and spit clean any carpets (although they're generally fine) - anything else I can clean whilst it's here?!

NSDs: 11/31
Groceries: £326.04//400
Everything else: £223.59/350

AmberItsACertainty · 25/01/2021 12:46

Went to the local shop yesterday and only bought the tea bags and tights that I needed. Not like me at all, usually come out with a bag load of stuff. The car is fixed again, DP did it so no garage fees, only paid for the part. I still have snow but not quite so much as yesterday. Considering building a snowman ⛄

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/01/2021 13:11

Peanut where are you. We have some online food bank equivalent that do clothing

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/01/2021 13:12

You don't need to be a food bank user to access them

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/01/2021 13:15

Welcome new.

Gah people on Facebook market place.

AdoraBell · 25/01/2021 13:30

£64-ish grocery delivery
£8.19 on odd bits I didn’t remember to order 🤦‍♀️

DD1 has decided to stay home for a few more weeks. Everything is online and she will get a refund on rent. It’s a no brainier, she’s learning 😀

Hello New and Peanut

NewPage · 25/01/2021 14:59

Iceland has some good food offers at the moment, pizza night in £5 for 2 pizzas, a bag of potato wedges and a tub of Cadbury ice cream. Lots of delivery slots too and free delivery if over £30. If anyone is able to use student discount it’s also £5 if you spend over £40 xx

Happy Burns Night & Happy St Dwynwens day ❤️ to everyone Smile

I have combined the two days and thought l would post this for us all because it is so sweet & l am a very soppy old woman Grin

A Red, Red Rose
BY ROBERT BURNS

O my Luve is like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my Luve is like the melody
That’s sweetly played in tune.

So fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only luve!
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my luve,
Though it were ten thousand mile.
Isn't it beautiful, hugs everyone Smile

Fear llovely to see you back.

Adora we have got the news that DD is staying until Easter - all her lectures, workshops and tutorials are on line. It is cheaper (her face was priceless when we told her in jest that she had to pay rent...), warmer, cuddlier and tastier.

new I hadn't thought to use her student discount for food shopping. I must explore more.

Amber nice one... I have slipped back into filling the trolley each time I go to the supermarket.

I have burnt my finger making praline for Ds' birthday cake. It hurts. A lot.

Fearofawelshplanet · 25/01/2021 17:40

Thanks Guys...good to be back
Lovely poem xx ups and downs with covid very true, but trying to stay upbeat and get thru it. We all had it in December, it was difficult but we are through it now...

SnugglySnerd · 25/01/2021 18:22

Ouch Unescorted! I have done that before making caramel and it was a small but nasty burn. Acriflex cream is good.

Welcome New and welcome back Fear!

Had to fill the car up today, otherwise no spends. I am very tired. Need to upload all my lessons for tomorrow then plan to go to bed!

Wolfcub · 25/01/2021 18:34

Welcome New, welcome back Fear

Love how did it go today

Unescorted when is ds's birthday and can you post me some cake

Unescorted · 25/01/2021 18:45

wolf gladly. I am finding baking oddly soothing. I have taken to sending photos of snow, lunchtime walks in the hills and cakes to my colleagues. The are, understandably, starting to find me annoying.

I have bought DD & DS these very cute plates

fod DS and for DD This is the advantage of them having birthdays a month apart.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/01/2021 19:25

Welcome back fear
