Mrsmadevans · 25/01/2021 20:50

Unescorted wonderful news re Dd staying home Smile
I love the plates they are just darling!

ememem84 · 25/01/2021 21:46

I adore those plates. Almost bought them for the dc. But they’re China. And the dc would break them in about 2 seconds. Love them though.

Spends £20 sending eBay things. £16 coop on milk Nutella yoghurt and biscuits.

Unescorted · 25/01/2021 21:55

Mrs I am thinking of getting DH the cheese bicycle one for his birthday later in the year and hoping someone gets me the cheese sloth.

em it is no wonder that old children's nursery plates are so rare.

PeanuttButtaCup · 26/01/2021 00:24

Oh I shall ask my health visitor about the nappies unescorted thank you!. I breastfed my Elijah to start with but really struggled, so am on formula this time, I do have a perfect prep machine that I got off Facebook so hopefully that will make night feeds easier!. I’ll have a look on Facebook for clothes, I get a few off marketplace for really cheap. Sorry about the lack of enthusiasm for work and the burnt finger!. Them plates are beautiful and it’s lovely your DD is staying back!

Oh hi sing! I didn’t know you were on here too 😊. I do get healthy start vouchers, I completely forgot you could get formula with them!. I didn’t know about the free 15 hours, that’s brilliant, I would like to get back into work as soon as I am able but have worried nursery fees will make it difficult, so that’s a great relief.

Welcome new! Thanks for the heads up about Iceland, I’ll have a look at that.

Ooh madden I’m jealous of your rug doctor! I need to do my carpets.

Well done on being frugal amber, did you build a snowman in the end?

life I’m in herts, I’ll have a look and see if there’s a similar thing near me! Thank you for recommending it, I had no idea they existed.

That’s great DD is getting a refund adora!

Hi fear!

mrs that’s a lovely poem!

snuggly I hope you’ve managed to get some sleep

£1.43 on Cheerios

AmberItsACertainty · 26/01/2021 02:03

peanut no I didn't in the end. I've felt quite down today so I haven't done much at all.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/01/2021 07:01

Ours is called food for thought. We also have a branch of the bread and butter thing but I'm not sure how widespread that is. You can buy good boxes of whatever leftovers the supermarket have.

We also have a school uniform bank so old school uniform is donated, cleaned and resold. Our schools do similar too.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/01/2021 07:02

Good = food

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/01/2021 09:32

£43 on stuff for packing the house.

Happierwithouthim · 26/01/2021 09:44

Signed up for 3 months free kindle unlimited.

I'm reading Book 2 of Anni Taylor's Tallman's Valley Detective series. Got book 1 free from Bookbub notification, book 2 on kindle unlimited & book 3 will be released in Sept.

Happierwithouthim · 26/01/2021 09:49

€1.80 on posting card to db, put our smaller card into its envelope and put it inside card from dm Grin #frugalmind

Happierwithouthim · 26/01/2021 09:50

Yesterday €150 on minimum delivery of heating oil, no sign of house purchase to go through and buying it in a jerry can is expensive and messy Sad

IAmongstTheWorld · 26/01/2021 12:05

I hope it's Ok that I join in - I've been shielding, and have been made redundant so I need to tighten up. I do have a new job but it involves international travel so that's on hold for now.

Spent Uber Eats Breakfast - 13.90.

I have to pay credit card (just above minimum at the moment), water, (for the year) gas and electric bills (per quarter) today as well. I think I should be due credit on both gas and electricity though due to over estimation so that will help in the coming months I hope.

Happierwithouthim · 26/01/2021 12:37

@IAmongstTheWorld all welcome here.

Is it possible to get a grocery delivery rather than uber eats going forward?

IAmongstTheWorld · 26/01/2021 12:48

@Happierwithouthim That was my last order - I have deleted the app after the delivery was made because it is costing me a fortune and it is purely down to laziness, and making the excuse that because of shielding I should be allowed to treat myself. The reality is it is wrecking my finances.

I've realised I am really bad with money. People talk to me about doing credit card swaps etc. and I just have no clue. Which is worrying because in other ways I am quite intelligent.

I've just paid £200 off my credit card, I still have a massive chunk to go but I am trying to pay above the minimum each week.

Next stop water bill. And then Gas and Electric and then I need to figure how to submit the readings.

I have three paid subscriptions - one I need for work, one is strava and one is spotify. I guess I could get rid of the last two.

IAmongstTheWorld · 26/01/2021 12:50

I also need to - and again - hope it's ok to ask here - but figure out if there's a way I can earn some money from home whilst shielding. It's so hard to get a job as I get through to the last bits and then they tell me an "in office start date" and I have to explain I am shielding until September - the offer then gets withdrawn.

ememem84 · 26/01/2021 12:52

spends £16 whsmith on sentimental boxes for the dc (or they will be - they're just pretty box files at present - buy one get one free). i also bought a(another) new notebook. . . .

oh and £2.10 coffee in the shop across from the office this morning.

Happierwithouthim · 26/01/2021 12:57

Depends on how much you need to cut your finances.

I've gone back to free spotify and created playlists of my favourite songs and it's grand. I'm limited by no internet and phone reception where I am currently so this inspired it and I'll probably go back to paid in order for dc to use their Alexa and Google Home devices in time.

I'm not in the UK so wasn't entirely sure I had concept of Uber Eats right. Good work there deleting app. Even getting ready meals will be cheaper than that.

There are some sites that you can do some kinds of jobs online such as proofreading etc, others might know.

Other things such as surveys pay out a little bit too.

In ireland we've comparison sites for your credit card and I'm sure uk is the same, you could switch your card to interest free one to save money.

How do you manage your money? Mainly cash or card?

Do you record your budget & spends either in a notebook/app/excel?

IAmongstTheWorld · 26/01/2021 14:00

Pending Money In: Refund Requested for Cancelled exhibitions due to Covid £23.15 and £28.15

Subscriptions I had forgotten about - Union subscription and a Vegetable box - I am going to cancel these. Also BFI Player has auto subscribed, and I have found a dating app that was renewing from two years ago Shock - these four can all be cancelled.

I am going to do a budget plan, this is a great idea, thank you. I will read about the credit card transfer - currently my interest in sky high, it's not going down at all really (the lump sum).

I usually use my card, or paypal - maybe it's time the paypal account goes too?

I think we have a local food surplus market near me that I could cycle too - I will look into that. I also have quite a bit to eat up.

I could claim PIP but I had a horrible time last time I claimed it (was put on the wrong benefit and it caused multiple issues and it became so, so stressful - I didn't need it as I was working so I stopped it).

@Happierwithouthim Thank you for the help and ideas.

SingToTheSky · 26/01/2021 14:07

Well done cancelling your subs Amongst!

I really need to stop the popping into tesco on the way home from nursery 😳 it’s easy to spend a tenner on not much!

Exciting day here, the housing association just removed a cupboard for us so that we can get a dishwasher! We might need a slightly smaller one unfortunately due to a pipe running to the oven, and I’m a bit confused about cold feeds and hot feeds 😂 but it will be SOOO worth it, I can’t wait!

IAmongstTheWorld · 26/01/2021 14:25

@Happierwithouthim with your heating oil, can you estimate what you've used and sell some on when the purchase goes through to the new buyer? We did that when we were renting but it was a long time ago now.

@SingToTheSky very exciting to be able to get a dishwasher!

Dating app subscription has gone - 44.99 per quarter, and I have set online national lottery to 0.00 spend per week for now. I have a problem with BFI as the e-mail it is attached to got hacked and deleted so I am writing to them now to see how I cancel - I cannot remember the password to the account sadly and cannot reset without access to the e-mail.

I may be brave and downgrade Spotify and Strava next, I guess there is no harm in trying, although I think my Strava account will run until the end of the payment year anyway.

Happierwithouthim · 26/01/2021 14:48

Great news sing

IAmongst bf will be able to pump it out, I'll only do that if there's a substantial amount left as the landlady has been good to me and dc while we've been renting from her.

ememem84 · 26/01/2021 15:49

sing amazing - i love our dishwasher! its the best thing.

I opened a Starling account last week. but am now having thoughts about cancelling it. Mostly because i think i may have had a brain fart and this might open me up to UK tax. what a twat.
