So sorry to hear that love. Hope you get some help today.
Woken up to snow. Just planning big dog walk. Should be NSD

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/01/2021 07:17

Hope things calmed down love. Get onto the crisis team today. There is always someone on call. Self care for you too today.
Remember this is the shitty illness.

northender · 24/01/2021 07:46

born it's good that we have this outlet & can come and go as we feel we need to. I really feel for you re work, I'm community so it is different, but our motivation to keep people at home is very strong, knowing the situation in hospitals.
love I hope you get support for your dad today, I can't imagine the stress for you at the minute.

Having particularly heavy period (Friday/Saturday) so spent yesterday feeling washed out. Got parents shopping for them, dd was a great help. Today will hopefully be tidying, cleaning & sorting.
unescorted I've no idea why ds' uni has been delayed. They were only doing one face to face hour a week, everything else was online, so I really didn't see the problem. I've been sent a link by a teacher friend to the DfE consultation on teacher assessments for A levels & GCSEs. Dd and I are going to respond I think. Let me know if you want it, apparently they want parent & pupil responses but I'm not sure how well publicised it has been.

ememem84 · 24/01/2021 08:30

unescorted ah ha mine haven’t worked out money yet so didn’t demand payment. They still thought it was fun!! I still might pu the £7 and whizz the car through the car wash. It’s still not clean - it was reaaaalllly dirty. But we (I) got the worst off by hand.

Managed to pay £14 off credit card yesterday from eBay sales. Not much but any dent in it is good.

SingToTheSky · 24/01/2021 09:11

Love sorry things have got so bad. Hope he can get the help he needs Thanks

North I get you, I keep falling off threads as I just don’t feel like I have anything to say, every day is the same. There are things I could be doing (especially sorting the house) but motivation has vanished completely! I got quite a lot done during the first lockdown but this time feels worse in so many ways.

Bought a few educational apps last night, wanting to mix things up a bit for DS (he’s 11 and home educated long term so we don’t have school work sent for him). Tempted by other new resources as always but trying to use what we already have or is free online. Giving him some Lego challenges too as a different way of learning.

Sorry about the boiler delays wolf we had issues over November/December, it’s the first time I’ve really felt miserably cold in the new house 🥶

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/01/2021 11:06

In think the think we all need to remember is there is always someone here. If you dip in and out or post every day, no matter. I'm sure your nothing to say is actually something even if it's just a vent.
Use the thread as you wish and that's fine

AmberItsACertainty · 24/01/2021 11:26

Nobody should feel pressure to keep posting. Do what suits you best. I'm like this IRL at the moment, not contacting anyone because I don't know what to say.

Lovemaltesers Flowers for you. I hope you're all ok and your parents get the help they need.

Today we have snow...and a car that broke down last night.

Unescorted · 24/01/2021 11:27

love that is hard, but it sounds as if your mum has come on board with the need for treatment / external care.

life true - I love to see people pop in and out (Sea, lonely, laska, ....)

North / Born / Mrs thank you. I cannot imagine how difficult is is to see first hand the carnage of COVID every day. I miss the spontaneity of sloping off to the pub or driving into town on a whim, but they are Harrogate hardships. Small discomforts when compared with what you guys are contending with.

I have belatedly realised my village library is open a few half days a week.... I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. Library bag, mask, hand gel and card packed ready for Tuesday.

Today will be a buy milk day and £50 on birthday presents for the smalls. I have accidently been frugal on that - went to the checkout screen & it asked me for teh code it had texted me. B/c I normally get some one else to check out for me I hadn't updated my phone number ... so the retailer has just emailed me a discount code. Happy accidental frugalness....

maddenlightfoot · 24/01/2021 12:32

I hope everything is a bit clearer today love, and agree with that silver lining claxon.

We've finally had snow today! What a boost to everyone. So lovely for something to break up the monotony and see all the families out having fun.

January:
NSDs: 11/31
Groceries: £326.04//400
Everything else: £165.68/350

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/01/2021 12:40

More box packing and sorting this morning. Some stuff to top up the beavers craft supplies as ive culled paper pens and pencils.
Off for another walk this afternoon so not to waste the sun.

SnugglySnerd · 24/01/2021 12:45

Love this must be exhausting for you, especially on top of lockdown and everything.

So remember how I thought it wouldn't snow? We have a LOT! It has snowed all morning and is still going. We have been out playing in it all morning. Pleased I made a big pot of soup yesterday so we had something warming for lunch.

SingToTheSky · 24/01/2021 13:35

We’ve had snow this morning. I stayed resolutely indoors 😂 but the Caglets enjoyed it.

Glad your library is open unescorted I need to check the hours of our one. They are open for returns and to collect reserved books, they also do a selection service if you don’t know exactly what you want - I’ll be doing that for DS as I’m trying to get him to read at bedtime. I still have books out from summer that I need to finish 😳 I’m reading The Wife by Meg Wolitzer at the moment as the film is on iPlayer.

Mrsmadevans · 24/01/2021 14:53

Afternoon everyone Smile
Unescorted Sing our library is still operating in some sort of order thankfully Grin I have recently read 'only the Lonely' by Mike Doyle it was lovely Smile
Just a heads up for those of us who like aubible/radio books , Haydn Gwynne is reading the Thursday murder club this week l can't wait Smile
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000rlln/episodes/guide
We are binge watching The Investigation because it is really dangerous underfoot from the big freeze and snow and l am a Klutz! It is an excellent series just really, really sad and l didn't realise it was a true story until into the second episode. May binge The Bay first series too if l can persude the faaaamily to watch it with me Grin

SingToTheSky · 24/01/2021 15:13

Ooh that Thursday book gets rave reviews on a fb book group I’m on. Thanks for the heads up!

I watched season 1 of the bay when it was out, I watch so many itv/bbc crime dramas though that they all merge into one so I can’t remember much 😳 I’ll still watch the new series though

Mrsmadevans · 24/01/2021 15:21

Yes Sing my book clubs rave over it too, l have tried to listen to it but l find the voice so soothing l go to sleep ! Grin

Unescorted · 24/01/2021 16:51

How can you not like going out in the snow? It has been lovely seeing all the pictures on my Twitter feed of people who don't normally get snow. It makes me happy that they are happy.

I have watched the opening credits of so many series and films.... before falling asleep. I would be useless with talking books.

Lovemaltesers · 24/01/2021 17:04

It’s going to be mid week at the earliest before Dad goes in. Mum says she is accepting he needs to go, but only when lockdown ends. I fear this is going to be a horrible week.

Lovemaltesers · 24/01/2021 17:05

In the meantime, she struggled on Sad

SingToTheSky · 24/01/2021 17:05

I used to like going out in snow but getting super cold isn’t worth the resulting joint/muscle pain for me! 😳 If it had got heavy enough to build snowmen etc then I would have gone out for a bit I think but it was about two hours worth - enough to get the kids really excited and happy, thankfully! All melted by 2pm, that’s probably it for the year now 🤣

SingToTheSky · 24/01/2021 17:06

Oh your poor mum love what a worrying time 💐

SnugglySnerd · 24/01/2021 17:07

It's horrible when you know it's going to be a bad week. Flowers
