Ah. I sort of get it amber. In the sense that it’s making you ill. But if it was me I’d still ignore it. Surely they have to provide proof it was you? I’d defend you but I’m not English law qualified.

AmberItsACertainty · 16/02/2021 21:00

Aww bless you em. They don't have to prove anything if I don't defend the claim, they'd win by default. But even if I was there at the time of the alleged offense I'm still not guilty because of the grounds of the claim, but it's for me to prove that. It's a messed up system, everyone knows what the parking firms are doing is illegal so their companies should be made illegal, but they're not. UK law doesn't actually do much to protect innocent people unfortunately. It's more like you have to protect yourself and hope nobody does a crime against you.

ememem84 · 16/02/2021 21:29

Sucks doesn’t it.

I get the just wanting it to go away thing though. Just makes me so mad!

SnugglySnerd · 16/02/2021 22:14

Oh goodness Love, last thing you all need. Hope he is ok.

Amber MoneySavingExpert might have info to help you with the parking scam, I'm sure I've read about that sort of thing on there and how to fight it.

AdoraBell · 16/02/2021 22:37

£13 in Sainsbury’s, crisps, cake, cereal etc. All unnecessary 🤦‍♀️

AmberItsACertainty · 16/02/2021 22:39

Thanks snuggly I've seen it but I found it too complicated to understand. I'm just going to have to suck it up and pay it, I think.

SnugglySnerd · 17/02/2021 06:52

Amber I know what you mean, things like that are really complicated and stressful. I think they make it deliberately complicated so that people just gove up fighting it and pay!

A strange and lovely thing happened last night. Ds woke me asking to put the bathroom light on for him and it was 6.40am. 6.40! Not the middle of the night, or worse 5 am when there is no hope of getting them back to sleep! Dd1 had already got herself up and put Cbeebies on and dd2 was still asleep having slept all night. I hope this is a sign of things to come!

Unescorted · 17/02/2021 07:27

Amber that sucks. Have you spoken to CAB and or Trading Standards in your area.

Snuggly that is amazing. Sending sleepy snuggly thoughts to your little ones for tonight.

ememem84 · 17/02/2021 07:30

Oh snuggly that’s awesome.

Ds was up at 445. He’s hd an accident. So had to change bed. I didn’t really go back to sleep.

Wolfcub · 17/02/2021 07:35

Well done one a great nights sleep Snuggly.

I had my second rubbish night in a row and ds is doing his usual trick of getting up at stupid o'clock to watch tv. It's amazing how he can't wake up and can't get out of bed several hours later on a school day! Angry we did not have a good day yesterday ds exhibited some of his more challenging behaviours including going missing for a good hour. I honestly never get a holiday that's actually relaxing

Gas man today. Exciting Hmm

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/02/2021 08:02

Ah sorry to hear that wolf. Hope today is better. Is he off to stbeh at all?

Yeah for sleep snuggly

Slept in here today. Must have forgotten to set alarm.

SnugglySnerd · 17/02/2021 08:53

Sorry you had an early start Em.

Despite being up at a reasonable time and feeling quite refreshed I am still in my pjs. I need to get my arse into gear! I came upstairs to have a shower about an hour ago but have kept finding little jobs to do like putting away laundry and so on.

Fearofawelshplanet · 17/02/2021 10:12

ememem84 · 17/02/2021 11:58

text my gp this morning - and sent her a pic of my boobs - i did warn her before i did this...

she came back straight away and said she thinks heat rash/nappy rash....which makes sense if i've been sweating at night and keeping all wrapped up and maybe my bra has been rubbing a bit. she suggested the yellow nappy cream - because she knew with the 2 dc we'd have some in the house. use this for a few days and i've an appointment with her on Monday afternoon in case it doesnt get any better by then. but to call monday morning and cancel if necessary.

need to post a parcel today - have decluttered 3 pairs of the dis shoes to "Sals shoes" which was recommended on another thread for decluttering. you make a donation, send your kids shoes and then they send them off to other kids in africa or somewhere (i didnt actually read that bit...)

Gensola · 17/02/2021 12:29

Should be NSD today - hurrah! Going for a long walk now then back home for yoga class on zoom and then marking backlog.

I am so exhausted, end of term can’t come fast enough!
Sorry to hear about your disrupted night wolf
Glad you got your boobs sorted em Grin

ememem84 · 17/02/2021 13:12

maddenlightfoot · 17/02/2021 13:47

Love so sorry for your ddad, both hospital and Covid. And for your reaction to the vaccine - my mum had a terrible reaction, very similar to you, it really knocked her for six.

Latest house move news: We have exchanged!!! Woohoo! We move next week!

As predicted, my spending has already started spiralling (partly due to nipping to the corner shop for Prosecco Blush)

February:
NSDs: 10/28
Groceries: £350.16/£390
Everything else: £251.58/350

CamdenLurker · 17/02/2021 14:24

Hey everyone!

I'm at work, it's pretty quiet, infact started watching Collateral on Netflix on the tube this morning and I've just finished all 4 episodes, with various interruptions- how inconsiderate lol.

Yesterday was NSD, this is good because I struggle with the small spends, either on Amazon/eBay or just popping to the shops.

Today I spent £1.20 on fruit in Lidl and £4 on face wash for dd2 ( she has bad acne on her forehead) i would usually buy Dermalogica but this time she's having Clearasil.

Amber - I'm a lot like you in that I'd rather pay the fine even though I know I shouldn't and get the worry out of my mind, Dh thankfully is the opposite and so I pass stuff like this on to him. I got into a lot of trouble financially when I was much younger as I would never open a bank statement or Bill because I was so worried about what it would say or how much I owed, now that I'm financially wiser I've become the opposite which isn't much better.

Stir fry for dinner tonight, got the meat out of the freezer yesterday so I'm winning there as usually I make a great meal Plan then forget to defrost the meat!

How's half term going for everyone? Dd2 messaged me that she had gone back to bed after her paper round this morning and woke up in a panic thinking she'd had a full nights sleep and had missed the paper round Grin I ordered some air dry clay and acrylic paint from Amazon so on Friday we are going to attempt some pots like the ones on Sculpt.

Can’t decide which thread to post on!

😂 at your DD camden but she is obviously very diligent

Hope today has been better wolf

Great news on exchange madden . Are you calm about the move or at the “oh shit we have so much stuff stage” ? I told the movers we had about 20 boxes in the loft, in reality DH had so much stuff up there it filled a whole room.

Ddad seems to be doing as well as expected, he’s trying to get out of his room at the hospital but has slept a lot. No bad symptoms of covid yet too.

Dmum was a bit of nightmare this morning, I kept having to tell her you can’t just go to x or y. You must stay home! We’re in the odd position here where I have to isolate as only I saw DDad, but everyone else can go out. This does mean DH did our food shop, and he’ll do Dmums shopping tomorrow.

Happierwithouthim · 17/02/2021 17:21

Wow madden super exciting and super fast, movers aren't really a thing in ROI will you have movers?

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/02/2021 17:49

How exciting Madden

SnugglySnerd · 17/02/2021 18:24

Exciting Madfen!

ememem84 · 17/02/2021 20:05

Adora did you shop when you were hungry? That's always my downfall with snacks.

Snuggly that's good they slept through, hope they keep it up.
Yes I agree with you about them making things complicated. I think you have to be very clever or a solicitor to win, because of having to word things right, but you can't employ one because you don't get the costs back even if you win the claim. It's discrimination against stupid people, really. I looked into a solicitor because I'd rather pay someone who is doing a job than pay scammers, bit it'd cost about 5x more than the fine, so it wouldn't be a sensible choice. I'm supposed to be being frugal, not wiping out my savings telling CFs where to stick their fines, as tempting as that is Grin

Unescorted no I haven't. People say CAB tell you to pay up. Very annoying, I might not have even been there, I might have been legally parked on the street outside and been added to their list of people to fine, I wouldn't be the first person that's happened to. Trading Standards doesn't actually exist any more for average people, hasn't for years. It only exists for investigating safety concerns of products and fakes of expensive brands, things like that which affect the country's reputation or economy. Average people trying to contact Trading Standards get redirected to Consumer Direct, who don't do anything except explain how to take someone to court. There's nobody to complain to about anything.

Wolf thanks for the new thread link, I typed all this before I saw it, sorry 😂

Camden pottery sounds fun. I'm into crafts too but haven't done anything in ages because I've got lockdown apathy. My partner usually deals with anything legal but he's unwell at the moment, it's such bad timing.

Em I hope your demons have been laid to rest whatever they were. Onwards and upwards. Smile

Madden that's fab you've exchanged. Just the living out of boxes part to get through this week until you've moved.
