Madden Mum had already paid 33 for 3 months so l don't know if because hers was an extention it may have been cheaper because it was already set up .

I debated reporting your post wolf

😂😂

Unescorted · 12/02/2021 17:42

love big hug for you.

em wolf they don't even look nice.

Mrs is it a bungalow set back and up from the street so people can't look in the windows without sticking their nose against the glass. So we don't have curtains.

I miss them too

Mrsmadevans · 12/02/2021 17:50

Ahh that sounds perfick to me Unescorted Smile l can't bear net curtains , blinds or shutters or curtains everything is pushed way back off the window in our house Smile
You know these previous posters who have gone , you are all missing them very much l know. So none of you keep in touch outside of MN ? Only it seems so sad for you to be left almost bereft not knowing where they are and how they are. Just a thought. I know we are all so careful about our private life and being outed it's just l can't imagine any of you here are 'BAD GALS' Smile
Wolf l am yet to try them Grin

SnugglySnerd · 12/02/2021 17:58

Good work on the shopping Mrs!
No not in touch outside mn although on occasion we have posted each other various things so I do know a few posters' real names! We have occasionally toyed with the idea of a frugal meet-up but it has never happened, and what if we all hated each other irl?!! Grin

We got a takeaway pizza for a half term treat (with a 50% off code naturally!) What we realised is that, like bananas, pizza doesn't go very far between all of us these days! I am going to be snacking later I suspect...

Unescorted · 12/02/2021 18:00

I think it is because when we jump on the thread we are all at a "something must change" moment in our lives and it is such a welcoming place so when people drift off you still remember them. You guys know things about me that my closest friends and family are not privy to. No one in real life knew I was paying down a huge debt... I have all the skills for hiding financial disaster. Grin

Unescorted · 12/02/2021 18:03

Is the 2 still doing the rounds. I might need it for a 21st soon

SnugglySnerd · 12/02/2021 18:06

Yes I think you are right there Unescorted. I was struggling at the end of mat leave with no pay and dreading going back to work when I joined the thread which must have been just over 6 year ago now!

maddenlightfoot · 12/02/2021 18:19

Mrs I think it's because I had to add myself as my maiden name - some things I still haven't changed going on 6 years later! - any name not the same as family name is an extra £20 😞

Do you know, my dh, who's really quite shy and reserved, met up with a group he was on a forum with. It was a forum for their footy team and they met for a match. He said it was so interesting meeting everyone and they were all totally different to what he'd imagined. They all got on really well though! (but haven't met up since 🤷‍♀️)

Madden l think everyone here would get on like a house on fire everyone is so kind and caring, that's lovely re you DH meeting up with his FB pals 🤗❤️ Perhaps one day 🤗
Mrsmadevans · 12/02/2021 18:33

Yes it would be the extra name Madden ! I am just a glad to sort it out for Mum so easily with a phone call it was hard last time because l had to do it for her with no passport , l had to renew her driving licence for photographic evidence 🙄

Wolfcub · 12/02/2021 19:06

Hmm so I've made and eaten a delicious dinner and a delicious dessert and we've been for a nice walk.

I'm trying to focus on that but someone has done some damage to the house (think utilities) whilst we were out and it'll either cost a few hundred if it can be fixed up or considerably more than that if it has to be replaced. I am not very happy about that, I know it was an accident but it was a stupidly careless one

The house smells like burnt sugar from dessert making - think some sugar crystals fell on the gas burner

Unescorted, likewise, no one I know would have known the mess I (we) were in financially or how much stress I was carrying because of it and no one in real life knows as much of my divorce drama as you lot do

Definitely looking forward to when we can try and meet and put faces to names. I feel I've made some really good friends here, you are a fantastic community of frugal folk

SnugglySnerd · 12/02/2021 19:40

I love the smell of burnt sugar Wolf!

Just thinking of some things to do over half term. Obviously going anywhere other than for a walk is out of the question and we already bake too much! Going to look online for some ideas for Lego challenges and that sort of thing.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2021 21:03

No it's a shame we never get to meet irl.

Sorry to hear about utilities wolf, hope it's recoverable frugallly.

Eee exchange, how exciting.

£80 food,

Spoken to. Mortgage peeps today and renegotiation of needs done.

Mrsmadevans · 12/02/2021 21:08

Oh God you can well do without that Wolf it's like a kick when you are down Flowers hope it is sorted ASAP Smile
We have all been there financially l know, l can remember not having a penny to bless ourselves when we came back from Honeymoon Hmm it was an awfully long time ago Grin
Wouldn't it be lovely to actually put a face to a name ...one day perhaps Smile I will be the fat old Welsh biddy who keeps asking everyone to 'say it again' because she is deaf as a post Grin
Snuggly there are some lovely ideas on here
mummyfever.co.uk/february-half-term-lockdown-activities/
Finally l have tasted the hot cross buns raw and toasted and they are absolutely delicious! Grin

ememem84 · 12/02/2021 21:20

This.

I do often wonder whether we’d get on in real life. I think we would. Sometimes I forget that we’re all different ages etc. I sometimes just assume that you’re all the same age as I am. (Stil 26......! Ha!)

Dh hates the buns.

Gensola · 12/02/2021 21:25

NSD for me today. DH got some stuff at supermarket.
Have made a meal plan to use up a lot of veg, some .... interesting meals Grin

Gensola · 12/02/2021 21:26

I think we’d all get on! I am 35 but I think teaching in an all boys school for 8 years has somewhat ... de-aged my sense of humour Grin

Mrsmadevans · 12/02/2021 21:43

I think we would all get on too Gen Grin
Em all the more for you Grin
My lot love them so l am kept in check a bit thankfully Grin

Unescorted · 12/02/2021 21:52

wolf if it is utilities make them pay for the damage & keep paying if it is not right.

Burnt sugar = burnt finger... the smell of AutoBBQ is not good. I have another cake to do in 2 weeks. Praline is not going to be part of it Grin

SnugglySnerd · 13/02/2021 07:25

Thanks for the link Mrs, going to have a proper look later.

I think we would all get on too. We could have a frugal picnic, I'll bring the Marmite sandwiches Grin

Ah so your similar age to me (26 too...!) add 10 years to that.....
