Were they the allusive Christmas cinnamon buns Camden?
Great looking rooms
£7 McDonald's lunch. DS loved it. Waste of money imo

Mrsmadevans · 17/10/2020 18:55

Snuggly brilliant l am so glad you are pleased with them Smile
Sounds like a lovely Sat afternoon Smile
Camden OMG they look divine Smile
Pumpkin lots of lovely things for your Dc to look at and play with , they will love it l am sure! Smile

northender · 18/10/2020 08:49

Love the bedrooms pumpkin
Camden hope the cinnamon buns were as good as they looked. I've got a BBC good food recipe for mincemeat Chelsea buns which is a Christmas Eve treat here, but may have to be done more than once this year.
Love the coastal view Happier

Busy day yesterday. We have a big year next year, dh & I both 50 and silver wedding so hoping for a big trip. Went to fab local travel agent yesterday and came home with brochures!
Did a streamed gym class in the morning. Grocery shop £95 but that included quite a few items for our brexit/covid stash. We watched Flashdance last night which was underwhelming after Pretty in Pink on Friday. Footloose is next. Ds had a bit of a fatigue crash yesterday, maybe after his gym sessions this week so hopefully a quiet day will have sorted him out.
Today dd has rugby, but nothing else planned. Need to catch up with housework.

A misty morning here. I'm waiting a little bit for the mist to lift and then I'm going to drive to the beach for a long walk. NPHET (National Public Health Emergency Team) have recommended a move to Level 5 - highest level restrictions. We're waiting for the government to make a decision (maybe Monday?). If that happens, we can only exercise within 5 km of home Sad. So I'm going to the beach today while I can. I've been looking at warm coats for the outdoors and I finally bit the bullet yesterday and ordered one for €200 (reduced from €230). It's going to be a very dull winter and walking is about the only thing I'm going to be able to do. So I might as well make sure I'm properly equipped for winter walks in Ireland. I'll make do with a raincoat and warm hoodie today although I don't think it's going to rain. It might be chilly though. I'll bring my flask and some instant coffee.

ememem84 · 18/10/2020 11:59

Back home from our staycation at hotel with epic swimming pool. Both dc loved it. So much fun.

Dd is still not napping or sleeping well. She’s exhausted. Having dropped off in the car literally just as we got home this morning and I put her straight into her bed. She screamed blue murder the minute I left the room. So she’s on our bed with me. Playing with my keys.

CamdenLurker · 18/10/2020 13:53

Well Jel of that view happier it must be amazing to have that near by, what an amazing place to live.

The rooms look so good Pumpkin, did it take you hours or was it quite a quick job? Kids really don't want to miss anymore school, dd2 really lacks motivation and isn't great at getting school Work done at home.

The buns were made by dd1 from scratch, she loves baking and is very good at it.

Ds2 had some good news last night, he has signed for a semi professional football team, I've never seen him so happy, something good for him at such a crappy time in general.

Nsd today, really need to have a few more of these over the next few weeks and keep away from the internet shopping. How's everyone else doing today?

Mrsmadevans · 18/10/2020 17:00

Afternoon everyone 😀
It is blooming cold here 😱❄️
Nsd for me today 😊
Camden those buns 😋😋
AHH Congratulations to your Ds2 bless him you must be so proud of him 😀👏👏👏
Em glad you had a lovely time, what is it with the DC and keys 😃
Tayto that sounds really serious level 5 , l hope you are ok we are all going into lockdown for 3 weeks here in Wales , even where l am in Monmouthshire where it's very low in cases ,so the rumour goes . It's so hard honestly everyone has just had enough now 🙄
North where are you thinking about going ? Sounds fabulous 😍 good for you to have something to look forward to 😃

Wolfcub · 18/10/2020 18:39

Beautiful view Happier

I have managed to get my mitts on a Booths xmas catalogue

Em glad you had a lovely time I hope dd's sleep settles soon

Camden the buns look amazing

Tayto I hope you managed to get out for your walk

Ironing, cleaning and walking done today. Also bought stocking fillers and wrapped all birthday and Xmas presents. I hate wrapping

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/10/2020 18:51

Pleased you had a good time em.

Ooh could be pricey wolf.

Few more Christmas shopping bits today.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/10/2020 18:51

I love wrapping. Will start later though.

Unescorted · 18/10/2020 19:28

Camden no wonder your DS is pleased!

wolf can you do my shopping & I will do your wrapping. Wrapping is the only bit of Christmas that I look forward to. I haven't thought of a theme yet... I am kind of tempted with a covid graphic in Christmas colours printed in a cheesy 70's style. My family would roar with laughter … I am not sure DH's will, but they probably won't notice. I will have to consult with DD about printing options & I may have to borrow her photoshop skills.

I am loving the sound of the Christmas mincemeat buns.....

pumpkin how do you keep the rooms so tidy? They look amazing. I have just made a deal with DS - I am booking half term off work & we are going to blitz the decorating of his room.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/10/2020 20:07

I Love everything about Christmas. Thought the DC got tin foil wrapper for their birthday as I ran out of time

SnugglySnerd · 18/10/2020 20:08

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

I am feeling really fed up today. I know everyone feels like this but I really just want normal life back now. I need to do something nice this evening so I don't just sit here dwelling on all the rubbishness at the moment! I've been fo a walk which was nice and now I'm trying to think of something to do that doesn't involve eating... I would have a bath but by the time the water has heated I will have probably gone tired and won't bother. One of my biggest regrets is that when we moved in and replaced our boiler we got one of the ones with a timer for hot water instead of spending more to have hot water on demand. We couldn't really afford it at the time but looking back it would have been worth getting a loan or something.

Unescorted · 18/10/2020 20:40

snuggly I hear you. I feel as if I ought to be doing something but can't quite work out what it should be. I spent quite a lot of time drawing but didn't really enjoy it because I felt guilty for not doing the something.

ememem84 · 18/10/2020 21:08

Dd had a 2 hour nap. Hoorah!

In bed all ready for tomorrow. Working from dparents tomorrow so have to take everything with me. Sigh. But they are looking after the kids and are feeding us dinner.

This week is busy work wise. And not so busy personal wise. Phew.

Payday on Wednesday. Double phew.

apumpkinaday · 18/10/2020 22:20

Hi all, hope you’re doing well. Late one today, we didn’t do much. Went for a walk up the woods, it smells very autumnal and there was a real nip in the air. I love this time of year I love where I live too, it’s so cosy to come back to in the dark!. We watched a few films and I set up my desk for tomorrow as we have a week of online learning before half term. Loving all the Christmas chat! I find myself on the Christmas threads daily, I stalk your countdown thread a bit mrs😂

Thanks snuggly! Good going on Xmas buying. I’m sorry you’re not feeling good it really is such a difficult time. I hate not knowing when things will be normal again.

They do love their rooms mrs, DD loves her little reading nook.

Thanks north, I love footloose and flash dance too!. I hope you’re able to get away somewhere next year.

That’s frustrating about moving to level 5 tayto but it sounds like you’re quite prepared!.

I’m glad you enjoyed your time away em and that DD slept!

camden thank you! They took a good few hours, I like to keep them tidy but I do find toys and clothes just build up so I had to sort them out. I hope you DC don’t have to miss anymore time off school, it is so frustrating!. Great news for DS2!!

Sorry you’re in lockdown mrs I’m swaying between feeling okay and then getting really frustrated. It’s all just very weird isn’t it.

unescorted they aren’t always that tidy! But I do like to keep on top of them!. It’s so nice when they’re all clean, I hope you can manage to get DS’s in order!.

ChristmasSeacow · 18/10/2020 23:36

Sorry you are out of sorts Snuggly. I feel it a bit too. There’s just no end in sight. And it’s going to be hard keeping little DC occupied all through the winter with no indoor entertainment options. I hope you get your mojo back a bit - will half term help?

The reading nook was what I was drawn too too Pumpkin - very cute rooms.

Hope DD gets with the sleep Programme soon Em.

I am also about to have a madly busy work week, my diary is jammed most days, I am behind with paper writing (late nights beckon!), I’m on site on Wednesday and I’ve got a Zoom school governor meeting in the evening. I’m going to be wrecked by Friday and the DCs are off school as half term starts from then. Ug. I might try to book an extra day AL next week to get through half term.

My DSises came over today for birthday beef stew, dumpling, mash and veg and then Victoria sponge. i feel I’ve done justice to the 1950s (I’d say to my granny, but she was an awful cook Grin) . We sat in the garden, which was fine, not too cold, but we tried the fire pit for coziness and then had to sit miles away as the smoke was overpowering! We were burning logs sold for fire pits - what am I doing wrong?!

We’re supposed to be going to see PILs in a couple of weeks but I don’t think we can have lunch at theirs now (we are tier 2, they are tier 1). But BIL and SIL (also London tier 2) think it’s fine and are going up next weekend for lunch. It is confusing but I’m sure that’s not allowed (I mean, they can do what they want in the end, I’m just trying to understand the guidance). I think MIL is a bit annoyed that we’re inclined to stick to the rules since BIL and SIL are prepared to be ‘flexible‘. I sense they think I am being unnecessarily square but honestly, I just don’t want to make anyone ill Hmm. Being ‘flexible’ is starting to feel like the prevailing mood of the country - god knows what will happen if that becomes the norm.

Also, DS’s class WhatsApp group has been exciting tonight. One mum posted a video about covid being a conspiracy theory - same person who posted some anti-vaxxer crap a couple of weeks ago and was politely told it’s not the place. She was asked again to keep the group chat to school-related matters and came back with a rude comment , followed (after another polite protest) by a very rude picture indeed (F you - in extremely graphic cartoon form Shock). I am so shocked anyone would speak to another person like that, let alone a group of school parents! I did lodge my protest. I imagine she’ll be kicked off if there’s a repeat of it. I await developments with interest... makes you look at people in quite a new light though!

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/10/2020 06:48

Ooh sound exciting sea.
Was the wood dry and did you put it on a bit at a time. Usually both of those cause too much smoke.
I have to look the tiers up everytime. I wouldn't let them pressure you. Craic on in-laws I say.
Hurray for nap.

Busy week here as I'm home without dh so doing all of the running around.

ememem84 · 19/10/2020 09:04

sea 😱 our receptionist lady at work has to be reminded that the office whatssap isn’t for sharing memes.

Mrsmadevans · 19/10/2020 09:09

Morning everyone 😀
Is it me or is everyone fed up to their backteeth and so so busy!
Sea you follow whatever you want to do. Take no notice, at least if ,God forbid , they get Covid it won't be your fault!

Pumpkin you should join in m'dear ☺️
Em that sounds lovely having someone care for you all for a change enjoy it !
Life & Unescorted can you do mine too please 🤣
Snuggly sorry you are feeling like this it's so hard 💐
Wolf l hate wrapping too 🙄 & writing Christmas cards 🙄😱🤣

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/10/2020 09:19

Don't bother with Christmas cards any more. Can someone do a new thread I can't from mobile

Happierwithouthim · 19/10/2020 11:13

New thread

mrsMadevans I live in the south west of Ireland, obviously on the coast, but I'm renting next to a beautiful coastal spot at the moment.
