Thank you ! Yes, leave the Flu jab till you are up to it Smile
Life hope you are ok lovely Flowers
Em l am soooo tempted by the Boots Advent no 7 one l think it is out tomorrow for those that registered to be able to by it a day early that others. I have fallen in love with the Cath Kidston one too Smile

Bornlazy · 13/10/2020 20:40

Great mrs 👍

ememem84 · 13/10/2020 21:31

Dm just asked me if I’d seen the clarins calenders. I’d actually looked at the 12 day ones today. She’s bought one for me and the man one for dh. But for Christmas gifts. Not as calenders. Eeeek

Lovemaltesers · 13/10/2020 21:38

Life’s a bit bonkers here at the moment so not really keeping up. Hurry up half term!

Would have been a NSD but did the amazon top up, get extra £10. But I haven’t spent any of it yet 😇 because I dithered over buying some Lego then went out of stock

Mrsmadevans · 13/10/2020 21:52

@Bornlazy

Great mrs 👍
Thanks to you Born Smile Em gorgeous pressie off your Mum but a bit late in the Day for Christmas, would she give you your present early at least so you can use it ? Although is the twelve days of Christmas after Christmas day , l am getting mixed up now ignore me! Grin Love l haven't spent mine either but we got 10 years Grin
Lovemaltesers · 14/10/2020 06:37

It would be a frugal miracle if the amazon vouchers remained unspent for 10 years mrs 😆

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/10/2020 06:51

£19 Amazon

ememem84 · 14/10/2020 08:24

mrs mum isn’t a fan of “novelty” calenders so it wouldn’t be a before Christmas thing for her.

Wfh today. This morning has been stressful - dh just faffs. Again he’s got a meeting at 830 and hasn’t left yet because he’s faffing about. Ffs.

Happierwithouthim · 14/10/2020 09:10

I found an extra £5 credit from amazon for downloading a prime kindle book. Haven't spent it yet. Only on sold by amazon products.

Dd wants to do tie dye so bought her a tie die set €14.85, got my niece a flower building set €15.51 and bought bf a Salter coffee machine in Amazon warehouse deals(20% off there for prime day) €18.91 start of my Christmas shopping.

Yesterday I spent €23.80 on coal, briquettes, kindling and some milk. This fuel combined with the timber bf gave us will keep us going for a couple of weeks, fire only one a few times a week and it doesn't take much to keep stove going. From 6.45pm until 10pm last night, a small shovel of coal, 1.5 briquettes and two logs and it was still going strong when I went to bed. Makes me really want to put a stove into the new house GrinHmm if that ever comes about.

I was on waiting list for presale boots calendar if anyone wants me to email it to them they can have it as I'm not buying plus i signed up for boots uk instead of boots roi so it's of no use to me!!

Happierwithouthim · 14/10/2020 09:14

born I wasn't feeling well when I got mine but figured I'd get it all out of the way together

Happierwithouthim · 14/10/2020 09:35

€12.92 on 120 BioKult capsules on prime day deal, I'm after 3 rounds of antibiotics so would have been buying this anyhow. Versus €32 here for the same. or €48 in 4 packs of 30 from boots.

Unescorted · 14/10/2020 14:17

Afternoon - someone has stolen all my warm. I am now trying to work out how to keep my hot water bottle / quilt combo out of shot for a meeting later. I don't want to start wfh heating until it is much nearer to Christmas.

I am feeling meh - missing DD and still 6 weeks to go. If they don't let them home at Christmas I suspect there will be thousands of people re enacting The Great Escape.

CamdenLurker · 14/10/2020 14:54

Hey guys!

I haven't posted for a while, but I've been reading all the messages.

Hope everyone is doing ok, beating the cold weather and that those in local lockdown areas are coping with it all.

I have spent far too much money this month already, I'm blaming Dh and his panicking with regards to everything recently, even though I wasn't planning on buying too much for Christmas this year I seem to have stashed a fair bit in the loft and spent far more than I intended.

I've put the breaks on now and won't buy anything else that's not on my list, I'm waiting on vouchers from the ONS COVID-19 survey so I will earmark those for the rest of it!

This morning I met up with a friend I haven't seen for over two years, it was really nice and not awkward at all - I was worried about that Hmm we had brunch and it was such a nice change, as other than Aldi or supermarket shopping i don't tend to go out when I'm off work, it's mostly housework.

Still over two weeks until payday and the bank account is looking quite empty.

Ds2 driving lessons are cleaning us out too it's £300 every five weeks, I remember taking lessons and they were £12.50 each week! Really need him to pass though as booking a Test has become a nightmare.

Hope you're all having a good day x

CamdenLurker · 14/10/2020 14:56

Unescorted- I put the heating on today and yesterday for an hour to try and take the edge off, I think it would be warmer outside than in sometimes. I usually insist it stays off until November.

I can really recommend the heated throws, I got one last year but have misplaced the control Confused

Unescorted · 14/10/2020 16:57

I have been eyeing them up Camden

Happier my mum goes around timber merchants and joiners workshops and collects the wood off cuts. Also old pallets. It does them a favour because they don't have to pay for disposal costs. She hasn't paid for wood for about 10 - 15 years and the 2 wood burners provide all the heat to the house (they have gas central heating, but are off grid so it costs a fortune).

ememem84 · 14/10/2020 17:35

Funny one here. Over lockdown I bought a pair of super cute boots. But as it was summer time I didn’t bother wearing them. I put them on today and wondered why the left felt better than the right. Turns out. Left one is my size. Right one is 2 sizes smaller. I’ve emailed the co and have asked for help!!

Note for future - try on both shoes.

Mrsmadevans · 14/10/2020 17:45

Afternoon everyone Smile
Happier good that you are having the Biokult and thank you for reminding me because Mum has just finished 3 weeks of Antibiotics l must get some for her . She had an awful tummy while on them poor thing.
Ahh right Em l see now Smile talk of advent calendars from you and Happier has reminded me to buy the Boots no 7 advent calendar for myself , l had a voucher for 2.50 off when you spend over 20 on Boots online. So it cost me 42.50. I had a look at the contents and it seems very good for that much. I have never had one before but heard all the good things about it, so thought l would give it a go ! Smile
Also spent 17 in Aldi, my Amazon fire came today , been messing with it Grin only small but good for a backup to my ancient laptop and Mobile Smile
Unescorted ahh bless you sweetheart it really is horrible isn't it my Dd2 will be going for good any day now and l am not looking forward to it at all Flowers That is a great idea of your Mum's just shows what a little hard work can get you!
It has gone very cold here all of a sudden , heating on now Brrrr!
Camden That is a lot of money for driving lessons. We only had to pay 20 for our 2 Dds, it was 2 years ago now but still a lot then ! Good lucj to her when she has her test .Thank you for the heads up l will get one of these for my Mum for Christmas, brilliant idea for those difficult elderly parents who have everything and don't want anything and are stubborn Smile
Life have not started on my Amazon card yet but it will soon be gone Grin

Mrsmadevans · 14/10/2020 17:48

Mrsmadevans · 14/10/2020 17:50

Em that is so funny but l do hope they can help you out , there must be another person in the same 'boot' as you Smile

Unescorted · 14/10/2020 17:53

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/10/2020 19:03

More on Amazon this morning.
Thinking of £700 for a puppy. Eek

ChristmasSeacow · 14/10/2020 19:32

HOW MUCH?!

I’ve been awol, just work and that. And hiding from you all when I did some very unfrugal Christmas shopping last week Wink. Keeping up with the thread each evening but not retaining much info, sorry! Nice to see you Camden .

Seriously, now DS has an iPad I can’t see how I can possibly stop the creep of screen time for DD. He’s 8 but she’s only 3 and she wants to do whatever he does! It’s been WW3 here today, ffs. I do not want her on a screen for an hour. Even if it is Alphablocks.

Hope everyone else is having a more peaceful time Hmm.

We’re in a medium risk area for now, but on the brink of going to high. Fingers crossed it doesn’t change before Sunday as my DSis’s are coming to us for a birthday lunch 🤞🏻. We’ll probably do it anyway but if the risk category changes we’ll have to freeze our nuts off in the garden. I’m planning posh beef stew and dumplings so we can eat with just a fork if required and fingerless gloves . Bought kindling for the fire pit just in case! I think the DC would love that but I’m cold enough indoors these days!

I made some fab raspberry and white choc cookies this week, i’ll post the link if anyone is interested (it used freeze dried raspberries not fresh. Harder to get hold of but not soggy in a cookie)

apumpkinaday · 14/10/2020 19:34

Thank you for your kind words everyone. The family member is DSM’s dad (my grandad). He passed away last night after having a stroke. We’re all a bit in shock so I think I’m going to take some time away. Thank you again for all your kind words.
