No symptoms at all, North. Felt ok the whole time. Likewise DP.
It’s always nice to pop on here Snuggly and MrsMadEvans. I always follow the thread with interest, love hearing about you all.

howlathebees · 07/09/2020 03:21

It’s a really late one today, it hasn’t been the day we planned. We were meant to go up to Birmingham today with DS1 for his celebration before starting school, but with what happened we didn’t go. DH works on one of the streets where someone was stabbed and it’s really shook me up, I’m worried about him going to work I hate that he works in town anyway but it’s even worse with this happening. MIL still took out the little ones and we went to the country park with DS1 and had a picnic but it wasn’t the same. I just can’t believe what’s happened in Birmingham, it’s really shook me up. We’re a 20 min drive from town and it’s so scary that them things can happen so close to home

Wolfcub · 07/09/2020 06:29

Girlie, hope dd has a good first day back at school and it helps her

Lousy night of no sleep again, I am exhausted

Howl, Snuggly very worrying when anything like that happens and definitely unsettling when it's close to home

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/09/2020 06:54

Typical ds has been up at 530 every day since 20 March. Back to school today and where is he - still in bed. Little git!

I used forever white which has resided in the garage for years.

Oh wolf, what's on your mind?

Pleased you were not too I'll Dutchess

Fingers crossed school goes ok girlie

Lousy sleep here too. Possibly because I had such high hopes of actually sleeping through.

Dd woke up at 1140. And again at 4. Ds was up at 6. We’re watching CBeebies. And he’s having first breakfast. They’re going to dparents today I’m in the office and dh is wfh.

Back to work after my annual leave today. Just switched on work emails. 1600 to deal with. Sigh.

ChristmasSeacow · 07/09/2020 11:39

Awful sleep here too - ds wet the bed twice in the night, in spite of having a pull up on! He’s obviously not staying properly lodged in his pull up 🙄. He had to be woken from a very deep sleep this morning. It’s going to be a long day.

It’s DD’s first day at nursery today - just for an hour. She’s adamant she doesn’t want to go. We’re heading off in about half an hour. I am expecting tears. I’ve managed to get her into her uniform, despite her protestations, and I must admit I am feeling a lot of different things myself! She looks so beautiful, and grown up, but I’m really going to miss her ❤️

I didnt realise you were in Brum too Howl. I have to admit I'm pleased today that dh is still wfh.

Lousy sleep here at the moment too. Must be the change in season or something. I think I averaged about 3 and a half hours sleep over the last 2 nights. I was flagging by the end of work today!

Nsd. Yay!

Evening.

Thanks Life & Wolf - I will check both out.

Sea, Em and Wolf - hope you all have a better night's sleep.

Duchess - if you had no symptoms why were you tested. Up this way you have to half dead before they give you a test and only then if you start coughing on them.

I am watching a thing about roller derby....it looks bonkers.

Mrsmadevans · 07/09/2020 20:00

Oh God what is it all with the non sleeping ?

ememem84 · 07/09/2020 21:17

Busy day.

First day back in the office and I did not get the memo re not dressing down. Luckily I dressed smart ish anyway. But work clothes tomorrow (bird print trousers are smart right!!)

Wore proper shoes today for the first time in months. My poor feet!

£23 waterstones on books for ds’ birthday.

Had dinner with dparents. Ds has a bit of a funny tummy whilst there (won’t go into detail) but he seems fine now. No milk before bed though just in case. It’s most likely going to be a sleepless night for me. He’s gone down ok and it was only the one incident. But I’m going to worry all night....

My new backpack arrived. Accupuncturist and osteo both said I needed to maybe use a backpack not a tote/shoulder bag. So because I need to cart a load of stuff with me I bought one from the sale in accessorize. It’s lovely. Roomy and just the right size.

Lovemaltesers · 07/09/2020 21:43

I wore heals for the first time in months today em. Fortunately not too much trekking around the building today.

DC were exhausted tonight. First day back at school and then swimming lessons so completely worn out. DD2 refused to clean her teeth this morning 🤢 so we had to follow through on the threat of no cake this evening. Which did not go down well...

She’s a tricky one (aged 5). She knows we are time limited in the mornings so throws tantrums or refuses to do things like put on her own shoes or do teeth. But we genuinely have a cut off point when we have to leave to get to childminder then work on time. Any advice? I try to pretend we are not in a hurry but then eventually we run out of time and have to concede (which I try not to do!)

Was this DDs first day back at nursery or first day ever sea? I hope she was happy once she got there.

ememem84 · 07/09/2020 21:47

love no advice other than follow through with it. So if no teeth means no cake then no cake.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 07/09/2020 22:17

MrsMadEvans😃
Unescorted, I’m a Staff Nurse at a private hospital, although we’re NHS England now. We are tested every two weeks.

Unescorted · 07/09/2020 23:11

Love when DD was 4ish we threw out all of the toys that she had thrown across the living room and was refusing to help pick up. We had to borrow space in a neighbours bin. It must have made an impression because she used to warn DS when he did the same. If you give an ultimatum you have to follow through as em says. Otherwise you will undermine yourself.

That explains it Duchess - I have a DS back to school bug. Testing isn't going to happen but I have to have will of steel not to cough in public.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 08/09/2020 03:53

Unescorted, we have a local testing centre at Gatwick Airport, nothing similar in your area?

Had a pleasant foray into local town yesterday, £32 at Pizza Express for pizza and a glass of wine each for Mum and I. I’m starting three night shifts tonight so she will have quiet days until the weekend. Pottered in Boots and Marks afterwards and Mum kindly got us some nice chicken and fruit at Marks and other bits. Have hidden the chocolate biscuits until the weekend though or she and DP will be into them.

toiletpaper · 08/09/2020 04:54

Hi, can I please join? Trying to be frugal to pay off debts, not always easy as I love spending Grin

Duchess that surprises me as I'm an icu nurse and we've not had any routine testing! We only have tests if we have symptoms although we all that the antibody bloods a month or so ago, I was negative.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 08/09/2020 05:08

Hi, @toiletpaper
Yes, I was talking to a friend with whom I trained, she has been deployed from a GUM clinic to actually do the swabbing for symptomatic NHS workers and she says they are not routinely tested.

Wolfcub · 08/09/2020 06:12

Awake sine three again. Hope others managed a better night. In more exciting news the joiner is coming this morning to hang the doors upstairs

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/09/2020 06:51

Hi toilet. Have you been through all of your outgoings and either cancelled them or made sure you are on the best deal.

Where is your debt, are you able to move to low or zero interest rate. Pay the highest first.
If credit card can you afford a standing order each month of a fixed amount to pay down quickly. If it's a card you are not spending on it it need to be equal to or higher than your last minimum payment and the fees to be added.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/09/2020 06:52

Stressful day ahead prepare a presentation.
Happy door day wolf
Need to try and get through to the bank. Gave up after 44 minutes yesterday

Bornlazy · 08/09/2020 07:09

Hello toiletpaper and welcome. I'm a nurse too and we are not routinely tested, although they are always talking about starting it.

I was working the weekend and thought my days on for this week were Wednesday, Thursday but discovered on the Saturday that I was wrong and that I was on the Monday which was a bit of a shock. Glad I checked or I would have just not turned up. It was three really busy days so I'm tired today. My back's been playing up a bit so need to try and remember my physio exercises.

I love Home Bargains Mrs but I always spend a fortune as I go into sensory overload with all the "bargains" 😆

Glad your dd is eating better Girlie that must be a relief.

Wolf that gin looks lovely thanks for recommendation.

Sorry for all those not sleeping well. It makes you feel so bad the next day.

Wolfcub · 08/09/2020 08:31

Unfrugal morning. Joiner arrived. Unpacked doors, doors all damaged beyond belief. So £130 for joiner to do nowt as he'd budgeted time to do the job and rightly charged for it and now I have to throw things at b&q

Hiya Smile I'm quite savvy when it comes to interest rates thankfully, I used to work for a bank which I hated at the time but it's taught me some good lessons! I've paid a ton of stuff off in the last year (argos card, balance transfer etc) and now I have two loans both around 11k each, one is 2.9% and the other is 3.5% so it's just paying them down now - they total about £550 a month Sad

I've this month cancelled my sky package and signed up to plusnet so once it's all gone through I'll be saving about £35 a month which I'm very proud of myself for!

That's awful! I hope you plan to complain to where the doors came from Sad
