Thanks for all the advice about sleep everyone!. I didn’t know that putting them to sleep later wouldn’t mean they wake up later, just advice I had off my mom, but she did give me whisky to help me sleep as a child😂. They go to bed about 8 and wake up around 5, I’m gonna put them to bed half an hour earlier tonight and see if that makes a difference.

DM and Dgran have come over for Sunday lunch. The DC have been playing in the garden all day. I need to look at some puddlesuits for the kids for nursery when it rains. If anyone knows any places to get cheap ones could you let me know?. I watched that Des last night, it’s so interesting. I’m watching the documentary tonight.

em I should really clear out my phones, there’s lots of selfies the DC have took on there. Enjoy your earl grey!

sea they sound amazing! I’m very jealous of your family. I might have to pop over for a slice.

born we struggled for a while, he was a bit shit and kept saying he’d take the kids out and then cancelling, but he’s been great the past few times so hopefully he’s changed. It’s lovely seeing the kids with both of us, that’s all that matters to me.

I love the planner tayto, I watched some of the strictly thing thinking it had started again, I wasn’t a huge fan though.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/09/2020 18:12

Add me to the chocolate cake list.

Mountain warehouse for puddle suits.

Love a nice planner but not yet.

Don't blame you happier. No more mini happiers please.

£35 Aldi, £14 Iceland. Supermarkets are getting bonkers again with empty shelves

ChristmasSeacow · 20/09/2020 18:35

I’m not sure how old your DC are Orange but that doesn’t sound like they sleep for as long as they might do overnight. Do they nap? And how’s their behaviour? Do they seem to get overtired and unreasonable? My DD is just over 3, no longer naps and sleeps from 8 (when stories finish, she normally goes straight to sleep) till about 7ish if she’s getting enough sleep. I don’t know how typical that is but she’s pretty unreasonable if she gets less!

I’m loving the cake love even though none of you has seen or tasted it 😂. Photos are attached. I think this might have been the most fiddly one I’ve ever done. DS was really thrilled though. The cake is his favourite thing about his birthday (he has ASD and isn’t typically very motivated by presents) so while I am seriously knackered today, it was worth it. I’ve also just had a nap

Oh that's brilliant Seacow. The detail is incredible - right down to the shoelaces. I can almost taste those chocolate layers!

northender · 20/09/2020 19:05

That's amazing sea you are so talented.
Was awake in the night & netting. Found fluffy on a thread about her DH who is having cardiac problems & is in hospital at the moment. I commented and she replied reporting her spends!
Had a lovely day in the Lakes today. I did make flapjack to take, but it was still spendy with car parking, food & ice creams.
I've been doing frugal sewing recently, trying to use up as much of my Christmas fabric scraps as possible in a quilt. It has been a bit of a challenge but I've nearly got the blocks done & have very little fabric left. I've also got lots of wadding scraps left to stitch together. It is going to be a properly frugal quilt.
My 2 sewing machines end on eBay tonight. One has 67 watchers & the other 47 so I'm hopeful. £106 & £46 bid so far.

That's awesome sea.

Sleep definitely makes sleep. Late night = no lie in here, early night can sometimes = lie in

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/09/2020 19:33

Ah poor fluffy. Gws Mr fluffy

anorangeaday · 20/09/2020 19:38

sea they’re 3 and 1. They have a nap in the day, DD for an hour, DS for about 2. They don’t seem overtired and normal toddler behaviour, they’re generally well behaved but will have the odd tantrum. They wake up early but don’t settle very well on the nighttime. I put them to bed at 7 tonight, started nighttime routine at 6. They’re asleep now, so I will try pushing the nighttime routine back and getting them to bed at around 7 and seeing how that works out for them. The cake looks amazing! You’re very talented.

Glad you had a nice day north!

anorangeaday · 20/09/2020 19:40

Will check mountain warehouse life

ememem84 · 20/09/2020 19:59

sea that cake is incredible. So so clever. I am not that clever and have bought a gruffalo sugar paste cake model for his cake. I will post a pic when it’s done. It cost me around £25 (inc postage) but worth the time savings and it’ll save my mental health.

Bornlazy · 20/09/2020 20:21

Sea that cake is totally amazing. Your dad taught you well ❤️

Wolfcub · 20/09/2020 20:34

Sea that is absolutely bloody amazing. When we have a frugal meet up you have to be in charge of cake, we don't need it iced but it looks soooo moist and delicious my stomach is now rumbling!!!

Ah North, much love to Fluffy if you run into her again and lots of healing wishes for her dh

Lovemaltesers · 20/09/2020 20:35

That cake looks amazing sea

I miss fluffy, hope her DH is getting better.

We’re missing a few of a regulars aren’t we?

We had a lovely day yesterday. But I am so relieved we are now married and no more wedding planning. My dad was quite confused but managed to do his giving away so that will be a great photo. DP did a lovely speech, as did the best man. The wedding cake was yum 😋 Weather was good, and the venue was beautiful and perfect all round. The DC and nieces and nephew loved playing outside.

Today we did food shopping and ironing, proper wedded bliss 😆 Opened our cards and some of our wedding gifts, and got lots of vouchers too. FB friends are loving the change to married to DH. Feeling very loved!

DH keeps calling me wifey, I hope he is trying to be funny 😁

ememem84 · 20/09/2020 20:38

love congratulations. Can you send us a pic? Not an outing one if you don’t want to - maybe a dress snap? Or a cake. Or decor. Give us something woman!!!

Wolfcub · 20/09/2020 20:50

Congratulations Love, so pleased you had a wonderful day 🍾

SnugglySnerd · 20/09/2020 22:16

Many congratulations Love!

Amazing cake Sea.

I miss Fluffy too, would love to see her back on the thread.

Where did the weekend go? Been so busy I seem to have missed it! Nsd today though, didn't make it to the garden centre.

anorangeaday · 20/09/2020 22:19

Congratulations love, I’m glad you had a wonderful day!

ChristmasSeacow · 20/09/2020 22:41

Hey Love so glad you had a lovely day! I’d love a cryptic pic or two too Wink. Love a wedding, me.

DH called me ‘wifey’ once. He’s not made that mistake again 😂

I miss Fluffy a lot, hope her DH is okay.

Ah Orange yours are still quite small and napping... you might not get your (relative!) lie-in until the naps reduce. I guess you’ll just have to grit your teeth till this phase is over!

Thanks for the kind cake comments. As I said, I’m quite slow so it does take a good amount of time! Not the baking bit though, that part is well rehearsed and efficient Grin. I’d defo bake for The Great Frugal Meet Up Wolf but I think there’s a few keen bakers on this thread who would be keen too - we’d all have to do the polite thing and eat a lot of cake Grin.

ChristmasSeacow · 20/09/2020 22:42

Em I’ve never done a Gruffalo cake. I’ve tried to persuade mine to let me but they’ve never gone for it. I love the Gruffalo, I’m sure your cake will be ace.

Mrsmadevans · 20/09/2020 22:49

NSD for me today have been so busy with Dd2 house l have not had time to read anything . Hope everyone is ok, will catch up tomorrow 😄

Taytocrisps · 20/09/2020 23:19

I'm having a cuppa in my sitting room and admiring my mauve walls. The room is kind of back to normal. I've removed all the masking tape and the paint covers. I've pushed the furniture back into place. I just need DD to help me put the blind and curtain pole back up tomorrow. There's a tiny strip just above the mantelpiece where the masking tape was too high and the paint didn't cover the wall properly. I might go over it again sometime or I might hide it with photo frames. I can't remember if I said already but I'm planning to buy grey curtains and a grey suite of furniture. I can afford the curtains now but the suite will have to wait a while. Dcats are very happy to be back in the comfy sitting room Smile.

AdoraBell · 20/09/2020 23:41

NSD

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/09/2020 06:20

Trust me eating a lot of cake would not be an issue Grin

Pleased you had a good day love.

Decoration sound lovely.
Spendy week this week. £38 carpet filter, £550 decorators, £100 ish carpet cleaner, £20 horse, £21 skatepark, plus D's party Saturday hopefully

Wolfcub · 21/09/2020 06:22

Eating a lot of cake you say? I believe I am well equipped for that challenge

ememem84 · 21/09/2020 06:25

Agree with life eating a lot of cake would be no problem!!! I wouldn’t bake (unless the meet up happened here) as cake doesn’t travel well (id eat it on the plane)

Up v early here. Have to get kids to dparents before work then get through the traffic to be at desk at 9. Sigh. Dms asked us to do this as it’s easier on them. She’s not entirely happy that we’ll be with her for 730 but because of where they live (right on main road into town from east of the island and in the vicinity of 5 schools) traffic is always bad. It’s not as bad in the mornings coming from our side as no schools on the main road so we avoid it mostly.
