I looked in sea salt but as no fitting rooms left empty handed. Also dodged booths. And the new balance shop

howlathebees · 10/08/2020 19:19

sea no idea about Christmas here either. I never know what to get anyone it just feels like more stress than I need!. Sorry about your sunburn!!

em sorry to hear your dd is unwell❤️ good news about the meds!

When is results day unescorted? Good luck to her! My results day was so nerve wracking. Does she need certain grades for uni? (If she’s going)

Enjoy your night in Cardiff mrs I like them mugs! I

I love amazon on holiday sea! Your dinner sounds really tasty. Glad to hear you’re having a good time even if the weather isn’t great!.

I spent £20 today. Went to the park with MIL and the kids and got some ice lols and then met DH for tea at the pub which was very cheap with the eat out to help out scheme. I’m really happy with it!

Wolfcub · 10/08/2020 19:31

We had a bargain day out (if you don't count diesel). Whole day in the coast for £6!

....then we got home and ordered dominos

I’ve just done a huge sneeze over an open pack of orange flavour choco liebniz biscuits. These are dhs fave. I feel guilty. But at the same time....more for me.

I'm back from my travels. I had a few days in a hotel in Athlone (the midlands) last week. I met up with my best friend and we caught up on all the news. The spa were able to fit us in for a full body massage and it was sheer bliss. The hotel is on the shore of a lake so we enjoyed a walk around the lake when it finally stopped raining. We also did a boat ride into Athlone town for some shopping.

At the weekend I went to Bray (east coast of Ireland) and did the Greystones - Bray cliff walk. It was a gorgeous day but luckily there was a sea breeze so it wasn't too uncomfortable in terms of the heat. Bathed my feet in the sea afterwards and then went for dinner with my aunt who lives in Bray.

Back in the office today.

We've had some Covid-19 clusters associated with meat factories and Direct Provision centres (used to house refugees), so three counties in the midlands have gone into lockdown. I guess it was inevitable that numbers would rise again when the country started to re-open.

DD called to the school earlier and collected her books for the new academic year (they have a book rental scheme). Schools are due to re-open here at the end of August. I must check and see which uniform bits she still needs. I held off until now because of the uncertainty over whether the schools would actually open as planned.

Sorry to post and run. I'll try to catch up at the weekend. Hope you're all safe and well.

Howl she needs 3 x A - to do Fine Art at Oxford. She finds out for certain on Thursday - her teachers hinted strongly that she was OK at the beginning of the lockdown, but with the algorithms being used who knows. All of her subjects are 100% teacher assessed with moderation normally. My sensible head says it is not much different from normal years and they had already completed 90% of the material (art subjects are submitted by 5th May and a practical exam to keep them out of trouble while everyone else takes their exams). My panic head says she goes to an inner city 6th form that has performed better in previous years in terms of value added and she is doing small cohort subjects. She is predicted 2xA* and an A - but really sweated the A to bring it up to the others between October and March. She has never been assessed lower than an A on any part of her work and her college offered her a place without being pooled on her portfolio. I am arguing myself around in circles. ARRRRRRRKKKKKK!

life one of my offices was across the way from New Balance Head office. They had a shop in there.... I used to wind them up by wearing my Walshes or INOV8 in. The "bargains" always seemed over priced.

Wolf - £6 is a bargainiferous day out. You have reminded me - I didn't make it to pay day to fill up. £52 but I am back on my bicycle for short trips. My challenge for this month - only one tank.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 10/08/2020 21:46

So hot still and we are going out tomorrow, we must be mad!
Spends today £72 Ocado.

LonelyOversharer · 10/08/2020 21:48

Spent today. £42 in wcf (feed shop) ferret, chicken and Guinea pig food. Will last a couple of months. £36 on the rest of the bits to fix my car.

Hopefully that's all for a while.

sea sounds wonderful! A proper holiday! Rain, beaches and blackberries. I'm going to try to finish my sweater tonight, but am going to I-cord as I cast off, so time consuming.

I'm back to using a tank a week, so I want my wee car back on the road. Its 1.5xmore fuel efficient.

44 tomorrow.

northender · 10/08/2020 22:45

Oh unescorted I'm going to need some of ds' beta blockers for anxiety before we get to Thursday! Ds is getting very stressed now. His teachers all told him not to worry, he would get what he needs and his ucas reference is absolutely top notch, but.....to get the ABB he needs, they will have had to grade him higher than they probably should based on recent assessments. He is at a high performing college so that seems to be in his favour & has mitigating factors. I'm going round in circles too! I just want to know now. Roll on Thursday, either way.

howlathebees · 10/08/2020 22:48

em I have done that many times, except for my sneeze was on purpose😂

tayto your time away sounds lovely! I’d love a massage. I ordered the DC’s uniform tonight, had to get proper uniform for DS1 as he starts reception in September. I’m an emotional wreck.

unescorted God Well done you her! I’ll keep everything crossed for you both. I bet you won’t sleep Wednesday night.

The heat is killing me now! It thunderstormed a bit earlier but the airs still not clear. I don’t know how heavily pregnant women do it in this heat. Settling down with some pink lemonade and Corrie now.

SnugglySnerd · 11/08/2020 06:46

Good luck to dcs waiting for exam results. I hope the English exam boards have made a better job of it than the Scottish ones from what I've seen on the news!

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/08/2020 07:29

Which is why I'm not do bothered about missing the shop. I will get some on line. I still have one pair my second pair are worn out.

Unescorted · 11/08/2020 07:29

Thanks for the good wishes. Sorry about the mind dump - I have a very chilled exterior in RL because I don't want to panic her. North can I have some of the beta blockers.

Snuggly it couldn't be worse although Nicola Sturgeon has been good in standing up and apologising. I can't see BJ doing that - he will throw another civil servant under the bus instead.

44 tomorrow is that a Happy Birthday Lonely ?

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/08/2020 07:30

Happy birthday lonely. X

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/08/2020 07:32

Welcome back howl.

Fingers crossed for Thursday and Thursday after.

Been a bit sporadic as getting ready to go away again.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/08/2020 09:34

Boo no 25% off in Sainsbury's clothes

Brain dump away unescorted

Wolfcub · 11/08/2020 10:11

Happy birthday Lonely. 🎂

North & Unescorted bring your A level stress here, it's what we're here for

Awful night, between a rotten cold, sunburn and joint agony in opposite hip and shoulder, and ds prowling the house before 5am I feel like rubbish.

Expecting two deliveries so won't be going anywhere

OP posts:
Orangecake123 · 11/08/2020 10:25

Happy Birthday lonely.

Good luck to anyone waiting for A level and GCSE results.

I spent £28 on 3 T-shirts from Uniqlo for my younger sister which she needed and which wasn't a want.

Total savings now £75/700.

maddenlightfoot · 11/08/2020 10:48

Happy birthday lonely 🥳, hope you have some lovely plans and gorgeous weather to go with them!

North, Unrscorted and Adora good luck to your children on their results and hope the stress is all worth it. It's such a strange situation for this generation to be in. Snuggly do you have any A-Level classes or are you waiting for next week?

Curvy enjoy your day out - anywhere nice? And Tayto I'm very jealous of your spa! We had spa vouchers for Christmas which we haven't been able to use yet!!

Orange I've heard good things about Uniqlo - it's somewhere I must check out.

Wolf - ouch to sunburn! I'm usually so good at avoiding sunburn but have been sunburnt 3 times in the last 2 months because of being deceived by cold/cloudy/windy conditions - rookie mistake!!

My spendy August keeps getting spender - £324 on car service, brakes and pads. The money was in a 'car' savings pot but as I don't like my savings pots dropping too low I've transferred a bit over from the holiday pot - I'm hoping we'll be doing much more picnic/eat at hone type stuff so can make savings there.

£3 on milk and bread this morning and will also need to pop out for a few things later as I'm taking the girls to the beach tomorrow so will need picnic stuff.

ememem84 · 11/08/2020 10:50

Still full of cold. Working from bed. Nurse catface is not helping.

howlathebees · 11/08/2020 11:18

Happy birthday lonely!
