Yes I’m going back in. I find it’s easier being in the office. Easier to concentrate and i can leave work at work if you know what I mean.

Dh has taken ds for a haircut. Dd is napping. I have some peace!!! Wahooooo

Unescorted · 05/09/2020 14:15

Life happy moving Grin

girlie sounds like good news - I hope she keeps improving.

howl bilberry you say..... I must remember for next year. The bilberries have finished for this year unless we get a second flush. Doubtful because it has been so wet and miserable here all summer.

Wolf thanks for heads up.

I have finished the kitchen - it needed a 3rd coat this morning and have taken over DD's part. Her Boyf turned up after being away all week …. there is no sense in trying to nag her into finishing. Easier to tosh the paint on myself. The only problem is I am now eyeing up the dining / lounge...

Taytocrisps · 05/09/2020 14:30

Popping in to say Hi. I'll catch up one of these days.

I was in town earlier (big town) and stocked up on groceries for the weekend. I also treated myself to a bunch of flowers from the florists. Just because. And a latte and a raspberry chocolate croissant from the most fab. bakery in Ireland. Not very frugal but I've been supporting some independent retailers.

I've been doing housework and laundry since I got home.

I've been thinking of making an autumn wreath. Have any of you crafty people ever made one? I presume you buy a reed garland and then some little pumpkins and synthetic autumn flowers etc. But how do you attach these things to the garland - thread? All tips welcome. I'm sure there are some online tutorials also. DD loves arts and crafts so it would be a nice project to do with her.

My sister is coming up later. I'll cook her dinner and we'll have some wine and watch TV and chat. DD is with her Dad this weekend.

DD and I have been trying out some Dulux testers for the sitting room. Delicate Pink is pretty much white. Powder Room is a lighter pink than I anticipated. DD is mad about Femme but it's a very strong colour. Hmmm..... I'm still trying to find a Scottish Heather tester. I'll put some of that up and then we'll make a final decision. Hoping to get it painted next weekend.

Sea I think having a definite ASD diagnosis will help dd, although nothing would change in our day to day lives being able to explain to people why she finds certain situations so challenging would be really helpful. Plus I'm hoping a diagnosis would force the school to get their arse in gear and support her a bit more!

We went to a dog agility trainer session this morning, it was brilliant an hour of one to one training for £15 which seemed like a bargain! Dd did really well but it was a perfect example of where having a diagnosis would help ie explaining to the teacher why dds not great at maintaining eye contact and why when explaining things it must be literal or dd will be confused!

Spent £25 in pets at home, dog food was on offer BOGOF so stocked up.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2020 15:24

Walls done in 3 coats. Contemplating ceiling which willk be one of white. Cuppa first

Lovemaltesers · 05/09/2020 15:31

Just cleaned lounge and our bedroom carpets. They were very grubby. Everyone here now bundled on the sofa whilst the carpet dries.

Exciting Saturday afternoon here!

That’s so exciting life Is this the one you said needed a bit of work?

Glad DD is doing a bit better girlie and I hope the diagnosis helps too

2 weeks until 👰 Eeek!

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2020 15:36

No. The one that needs work everything we cancelled. This does need some work but not much.
Not sure where I can put my tumble dryer and second washing machine. There is a pulley over the aga thought. How posho do I sound now!! Best save up for come joules clothing Grin Grin

New bathroom and downstairs loo and replacement garage are the main things needed straight away.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2020 15:36

2 weeks woo woop

Lovemaltesers · 05/09/2020 15:46

Ah, but bathroom and loo are one of those really nice to replace things life so you can choose what you want and it always seems nicer once you’ve got rid of someone else’s loo

Lovemaltesers · 05/09/2020 15:51

Could the tumble dryer go in the garage if it’s a condenser type one? Does it have an inner door to the garage? That’s where mine is.

AdoraBell · 05/09/2020 17:39

£5-ish on coffees.

£20 on pasta. That sounds extreme but I ordered about a ton of pasta and tinned tomatoes from a website and someone messed up and dispatched 30 packets of spaghetti instead of 3. They didn’t want to write up a refund form (read - tell the boss) so offered about 55% reduction. I’ll give DDs some for Uni. And I got a £2.50 refund because the other shape I ordered wasn’t in stock.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/09/2020 19:14

There isn't a garage yet. Mine is in our current one as it is a condensing one. I will figure it out if the sale goes through

Unescorted · 05/09/2020 20:37

Adora Good call with keeping the pasta. I have been writing up my year end Brexit chaos plan... It has many store cupboard recipes on... my favourite atm is tuna, Chopped olives, chopped capers, garlic, olive oil - v. lightly fried tossed through pasta and dressed with lime, basil and parmesan. It is sooooooo good. Also crab, chilli, parsley, olive oil and lemon.... the rest of my family don't like that so much.

We have had a Belgian Beer and Cheese shop open up in the next village/ town. It is going to be expensive.

ChristmasSeacow · 05/09/2020 21:53

Pasta does not feature on my low-carb diet. Sigh. So tasty and cheap and versatile...

Girlie I know exactly what you mean! As long as DD isn’t upset by having a ‘label’ I think it would be really helpful. It shouldn’t be needed to get support at school etc but often does seem to make a difference.

Lovely day with friends for the first time in months. Tagines were decent, flatbreads also, though DD ‘helped’ so they were a bit more manhandled than was ideal Grin. And we started by putting away a nice bottle of Moët that someone had gifted to us.

Flatbreads and Moët are also not part of my diet. Oh well, it was a lovely afternoon. And now I am sat admiring my nice clean rug and contemplating a cup of tea to go with my knitting. I know how to party on a Saturday night Wink

howlathebees · 05/09/2020 22:19

unescorted I’d never heard of them before, but it’s a great gin. If you do make it, remember next year to let me know how it goes.

I bet you’re so excited love!

We’ve been watching BGT tonight, it all feels very weird, I’m not sure I like it this way. I usually love strictly but I’m worried that might not have the same charm because of COVID!. First world problems!

ememem84 · 05/09/2020 22:24

I’ve just watched “a simple favour” on Netflix. So good! I love Blake lively. I honestly think she’s one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever seen.

Dh is out out. I bathed bottled and bed both kiddos and they’re still sleeping

I had my fave pasta dish for dinner - with a bit of salty butter and black pepper. Nothing else. Did my tidying up chores and watched the movie. Am now in bed with catface. She was on dhs side of the bed almost under the duvet. 😂

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/09/2020 07:49

Saturday night is always curry night here as I gifted myself the spicery tin from last year's Christmas thread.

Pasta is always a good student food and staple.

Spend day today as family pub lunch for golden wedding. Also pay for cake and eat cake

Unescorted · 06/09/2020 08:22

life my spice cupboard is my favourite place in the house. I stand and gaze into it just because. My family understand - guests might be a little unsettled.

We now have a kettle on the list of things to be taken to uni. A silver one. This is a disadvantage of having an Art student - form is important. She will also need mugs and teaspoons. I wish they would give us one clarity on her accommodation - I don't know if she needs cooking things or will just have to rely on take outs from Hall.

In better news I am the nominated dropper off-er. She has decided that it is a Mummy job if only one can go. DH has already been down twice - for her interview so it is my turn. I suspect by the end of 3 years we will be arguing over who has to go. For now it is still very exciting.

They are also getting Teams - which means she can just video call me when she wants a chat. I am inordinately happy about this small #CovidSilverLining.

Thanks for those ideas unescorted

Shopping delivery £83 ish yesterday
Today I’m getting veg from the farm shop - no plastic packaging/bags. Have also decided to go back to the butcher instead of adding meat to the supermarket order.
