Naptime now. Both kids are down and quiet (although I’m not risking it to check they’re asleep!!!) I’m on bed. It is so unbelievably hot. Currently 35 degrees in the garden. Kids were irritable. And hot.

Did I mention it’s hot?

SnugglySnerd · 07/08/2020 16:30

Yes keep talking to us mummy, it occurred to me lockdown might make people feel agoraphobic a while ago. It's hard to get up and out after so long of not doing it. One step at a time.

ChristmasSeacow · 07/08/2020 17:03

34 here too Em. I’ve loads of housework to do so that we can come back to a clean house but it’s not happening - just too hot. And we’ve had the architect here today to discuss the plans for the house and he was 2 hours late due to an unforeseen emergency (and then he went to the wrong street - same name but 30 mins away 🙄) . So with hanging about I lost a lot of my productive time, but wasn’t feeling very productive anyway.

Before we go I have to make cheese scones (taking them and freezing them for DD’s picnic lunches as she doesn’t eat sandwiches Hmm) and I’ll probably make some of Lonely’s cookies for the journey /first few days. And I’ve got a little of my raspberry shortbread dough in the fridge that I’ll cook off. Other than that - just packing ALL THE STUFF! and putting away 6 loads of washing. And I have around 2 hours of urgent work still to do - so I reckon I’ll have to take my laptop and do it there.

But I must run the vacuum round and clean the bathroom. My sister is staying here while we’re away so it can’t be too disgusting. I fear I
Might not be going to sleep.

Glad you’ve found people Supportive irl Mummy, hope things gradually pick up for you with the right help. One step at a time!

Lovemaltesers · 07/08/2020 17:10

Sounds like you have had a lot to deal with over the last few months/year mummy . Always good to ask for help!

We had a bit of rain this afternoon, but sun is trying to come back out. We’re currently a balmy 24 degrees

Lots going on with wedding plans here haemorrhaging £££s . The suit hire for five suits was £400! But I’ve sorted maid of honour and bridesmaids gifts which is one more off the To do list.

Lovemaltesers · 07/08/2020 17:12

We were meant to be going to France next week. So glad we decided not to with the speculation of France going into the quarantine list.

Hope you get some sleep sea and hope you get away on your holidays ok

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/08/2020 17:46

I'm meant to be in France now. Hey ho.
£38 dress agency on potential outfit for db wedding, £5 coop sweet for DC, and me don't tell the weight loss thread

Bugger about the washing wolf. I would be furious with the sweetie papers.

Is it a bit warm there em. You should have said Grin

24 ish here as ooop North isn't getting the heat as much

LonelyOversharer · 07/08/2020 19:28

Did something necessary but foolish in this heat. I cleaned ** off the top of the fridge and freezer, cleaned the sides and under them 🤮 nothing scary there, but 🤮
In this heat. I was dripping with sweat. I used bleach. Lots of bleach. Ran out of kitchen roll halfway through the fridge inside, so came upstairs and instantly slept.

Meeting at work was weird. It's going to be a month before I know for sure if my job is safe or not. Things have changed a bit. Still half day work and half day furlough for now until decisions are made. That will do for now.

NSD today.

mummy keep talking.
wolf I found some old leaky sweets the other day, and was so cross and they were mine!
em trying to settle over hot dc is a phase I'm so glad I'm past. Good luck tonight.

Mrsmadevans · 07/08/2020 19:59

Evening everyone, have just opened the curtains and the windows, there is a slight breeze so we are not too bad, the difference having the windows and curtains closed all day when it is hot is remarkable , we came home from Cwmbran and it was cool when we came home thankfully , we recorded temp of 29 here and that was enough! Grin
Flowers to Mummy ahh bless you lovely l am sure you have done the right thing, take care of yourself.
Didn't buy much from Cwmbran £18.50 3 x prs of leggings Primark ,
2 x t shirts just to muck around in. Went to Asda and they had lovely linen shirts there but not in my size so l came home and ordered 3 online £36.50 Grin.

No pleasing us Mummas Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/08/2020 21:00

I think the cover up will be worth it curvy

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 07/08/2020 21:14

So hot still!
Had to have a cool shower, could feel a migraine coming on, but think I've just caught it before it takes hold.

Thanks for the comments about the tattoo.
My best friend died of cancer 10 years ago and one of her favourite prints was the Lily Fairy by Luis Ricardo Falero.
We were in a shop in Camden one day and there was a set of stationery with the prints on, so I got it for her birthday, it was one of the last things I brought for her and she carried the note book everywhere, so I think it will be fitting. I will get her name tattooed underneath.

AdoraBell · 07/08/2020 21:32

Well done getting the help mummy 👍

Groceries were just over £80. DH bought me a coffee, we go out every day just to avoid him working 24 hours a day and me being stuck to the sofa Hmm

Struggling to concentrate, too hot and not enough sleep.

ememem84 · 07/08/2020 21:50

Dd is fighting sleep big time. She’s exhausted. But will she give in? Nope.

This is day 8 I think of screaming until gone 10 (I know it’s not 10 yet but I’m anticipating it). This means I can’t relax and am absolutely on edge until she is quiet.

I’ve prepared myself for a long night. I can’t stay in her room while she cries because any loud noise is just going right through me right now and causing ear pain. I’m hoping that this is something to do with the neck pain im having and am seeing the accupuncturist and osteo for next week. Tight muscles putting pressure on things maybe? I don’t know.

Went for a sea swim before dinner. So nice and cooling.

ChristmasSeacow · 08/08/2020 04:09

Still not packed but halfway there, and house is much cleaner and tidier. And I have made Lonely biscuits. I’m going to bed now... my feet are throbbing! I hope I don’t forget anything in the rush tomorrow. DH will be doing most of the driving, that’s for sure.

Applied for my childcare code for the free 30 hours and got it back same day - yay!

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/08/2020 07:01

4am sea! Good grief.

That's a lovely print curvy. And a nice thought.

Hope you got some sleep em.

Returning a dress today so £34 back..

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 08/08/2020 07:13

Sea, hope you manage to get some sleep.
Thanks life.
We were meant to be landing in Spain round about now, but will be going out to the history museum and the park for a picnic.

Wolfcub · 08/08/2020 07:54

Sea good grief I hope you get some sleep in the car and on holiday!

OP posts:
Unescorted · 08/08/2020 08:33

sea you have more stamina than me. I can do housework in half hour blocks.

Manky sweets are grim.

Mummy just to echo everyone else - here is a really supportive place. We may not be able to give very practical advice but we can hold your hand and cheer you every step of the way.

I have my boys back.... the house is a mess already

It was hot here yesterday - so we went to the pub and sat in the shade... there were loads of people who were far too hot, having chosen to sit in the full sun. I love sitting in the shade on a hot day.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 08/08/2020 09:10

Hi all, we're just back from a week in Devon. It was lovely to get away for a few days and the place we stayed in was beautiful. It's been difficult at times with dd and food but I'm glad we went, ddog loved his first holiday and I imagine will sleep for a week now!

We did very well out of the eat out to help out scheme and ate out for half price mon-wed, had fish n chips on the thus and fri! I think in total I spent around £200 over the week (including parking/ice creams/souvenirs and food).

Came home to a letter from the eating disorder service with an appointment for dd in a couple of weeks so am very relieved about that as well.

Sea once again I can't believe how little sleep you survive on! I get 9 hours most nights and feel like I need more 😆

Mummy well done on seeking help, I found it useful when I struggled with anxiety to remember that the feel of panic is simply a result of too much adrenaline in your system. The body can't keep producing it so the feeling will go and it can not hurt you. It's a horrible feeling but will pass.

Em I have one of those bottles, I love it but you do have to watch the splash back when you fill it up! Do you think the heat is affecting dds sleep?

I have a mountain of washing to do today and need to go to Aldi, back to reality then!

Wolfcub · 08/08/2020 12:22

Glad you had a great time Girly.

I've finished emulsioning the attic (with df's help again) I am covered in paint. I'm trying to decide if I want to go back up there (it's sweltering) and gloss or whether I just want to give up now

OP posts:
ChristmasSeacow · 08/08/2020 12:51

I’d leave it Wolf, can’t imagine how hot an attic would be today!

Glad you had a good holiday Gorlie and great news about the appointment.

I am reeeeeaaally knackered today. There was still so much to do today that we ended up leaving quite a bit later than we hoped. But I’m now relaxing in the car while DH drives. I’m hoping he’ll drive all the way Wink

I’d done over 4k steps before I went to bed at 4am. Currently on 11k steps. My feet hurt, I am hoping to do as little as possible this evening. Just unpack the car, put the HUGE Ocado shop away and breathe!

ememem84 · 08/08/2020 13:25

Riding today £35. Lovely day for it. Sunny but not too hot.

The heat is definetly affecting dds sleep. That and the cold she seems to have. Both kids have snotty noses. Hooray!!! 😔

Wolfcub · 08/08/2020 15:46

I glossed and primed unprimed bits until I ran out of primer. I am knackered but no way am I as knackered as Sea! I really hope you haven't taken your work laptop on holiday with you

Orangecake123 · 08/08/2020 17:08

Hiii everyone- hope I can join.

I earned £5 from my father for making him a cup of tea Grin even though I'm 28.

I am going to Costa with my little sister later on, but we will be using the £13.60 of points we have already collected so won't be paying for drinks!

My new financial goal is to save £700. I already have 5k which is for my first home deposit.

Orangecake123 · 08/08/2020 17:12

Girliefriendlikespuppies you dog is beautiful and looks very happy on the beach.

maddenlightfoot · 08/08/2020 17:59

Hello! Can I join back in too please 🙏? (Although I'm sure I've said that a few times already this year!)

Thanks for the thread and great title! August is always really spendy! Last August was quite a 'lightbulb' moment for us. We hadn't made any provision for extra spends and after being on holiday in Devon for the first two weeks of August, had totally run out of money for the rest of the month. We just about scraped by with eating out of the cupboards and finding £60 of M&S vouchers which I spent in the food hall (and not even on all the lovely stuff - just bread, milk and basics).

Anyway, fast forward to a year on and we're in a much better position to absorb the extra spending. We've saved 'holiday spends' monthly since last year and with our holiday to Devon this year being the last two weeks of August, I'm feeling confident that we can make it to September unscathed!
