I’m glad to hear she’s feeling a bit better mrs!

lonely we’ve already had that! When I announced I was pregnant with DS4 everyone asked if I was hoping for a girl!. The other week DH got a letter saying he can’t have a vasectomy (poor sod) yet due to Covid and I told a friend and joked we’ll have number 5 before long, and she said ‘well you need a girl’. I don’t NEED anything thanks🙄. Well done to your DD on her results!

SingToTheSky · 18/08/2020 23:27

Ugh tonsillitis is vile!

Lonely 💐

Thank you for the job encouragement lovelies 💕

Frugal related question - who uses subscribe and save on amazon? Is it good for a lot of things? I’m looking at a few things to see if it will work out cheaper.

Unescorted · 18/08/2020 23:36

sing we have prime which give us free next day delivery and TV shite.

northender · 18/08/2020 23:49

Busy day on the thread.
Keep going Lonely good news that your work seems secure for now.
Mrs glad your Dd is feeling a bit better, dh had quinsy twice before having his tonsils out. His general health has been much better since & we are going to look into it privately for ds as it triggers his fatigue every time.
Em the decking looks fab, you must be pleased.
sing the job sounds interesting for you, go for it.
Great labels Howl
Well done on the admin snuggly, it has to be done.
Jealous of your beach day plan madden
Any house news tonight happier?

Tough day at work today, but ended quite well.
We have now officially done all we can for ds with his first choice uni. We have asked them to review the application with the mitigation form and his progress tutor at college has sent a supporting statement too. He sent a lovely email to me saying how well liked and respected ds was at college. Once we get the result of this then that will be it we will know we have done all we can and he can start planning for the insurance offer (probably). Feeling calmer.
No spends today.

ememem84 · 19/08/2020 06:38

sing we have prime and use subscribe and save a lot. For things like washing powder fabric softener toilet roll and nappies for Dd to name a few. The bulkier things and the things we forget we’ve run out of iyswim. They just arrive so it takes the hassle out of things.

Rain here today. Sort of screws my outfit choice as now I’m going to need a coat. Sigh.

Mrsmadevans · 19/08/2020 07:09

Morning everyone 😀
Must thank you all again for your brilliant support and kindness 🤗
Dd2 is ok, we woke her at 6 to take her tablets and she went straight back to sleep. DH and i have been awake since 5 worrying 🙄😁
North sounds very promising for your Ds l am so glad for you all 🤗
Glad you are ok @LonelyOversharerSing l have used Sub &safe and it's good l think no. Very easy to use cancelling is really easy too ,🤗

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/08/2020 07:12

Lovely decking em. Looks ace against the house.

Lonely Flowers stay with us and post. Or some of us have a Skype group or can Facebook Messenger if you prefer off line.

Fingers crossed for uni. Or acceptance of insurance place.

Yy birth bingo. Grin

£40 Sainsbury's yesterday hoping not to do a big shop this week. Got some school socks too. Just need primark tights for DD now.

Wolfcub · 19/08/2020 07:17

Sing I use subscribe and save for vitamins, deodorant, dettol wipes etc. Things that I need/buy in bulk every six months basically. Works well mostly

Ocado shop coming later

North fingers and toes crossed

Lonely well done to dd that's fantastic.

Slept until 3am so an improvement on last night.

Can't stop bloody sneezing either. Think it's dust from decorating that's properly irritated my sinuses.

My house update is that my paperwork is in a queue for review by mortgage provider. I need to provide up to date payslips and bank statements which I'll do on Monday when I return to work. I also have to pay for another valuation €185, as the first one is now 6 months old Angry until paperwork has been passed I don't need to do that.

If I had a moving date for sept my landlady is happy for me to use my deposit for last months rent, so will just wait & see.

I'm on hols on the outskirts of a very quaint village at gateway to south of Ireland. It's lovely & also close to city so we popped in & bought dds school shoes and runners in sports direct , ds wasn't compliant so his will have to be done next week.
We also visited the range, I only bought a smaller springform tin(cheesecakes are no longer needed so big when only myself & dc at home), a baking tray and a lovely decorative chopping board with all the conversions on it to hang on the wall. Dc spent some of their holiday money.
We ate in kfc, actually outside on pavement as seating is closed due to covid restrictions, and dd was hungry little over an hour later so spent €18 on a pizza from papa johns Shock

Dsis was on verge of getting tonsils out, but once exam stress left her life she no longer suffered. Mid 20s too

Lonely sorry to hear that things are so tough financially, nice to see you here.

maddenlightfoot · 19/08/2020 08:43

Such a busy thread yesterday! I've just enjoyed a half hour catch up with a cup of tea in bed. The bed in the holiday cottage is so comfy and it's pouring outside so feels extra cosy. DCs are watching CBeebies and eating brioche and, most importantly, giving us 5 minutes peace 😂

Yesterday at the beach was fab and by the afternoon we actually had bright sunshine! Also it was a NSD 🙌🙌. DH was itching to buy ice-creams but I managed to dissuade him as it was fairly close to dinner time. We're going out for a pub lunch today because it's pouring down all day and then planning a cosy day in. We brought lots of toys and play doh and puzzles with us. Will probably watch a film later too.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/08/2020 09:44

That's rubbish happier. Will they extend it cos of covid and stuff being shut?
Hope your are enjoying your break happier. With DC or bf?

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/08/2020 09:45

Ignore me I see is with dc

Bornlazy · 19/08/2020 10:49

Morning everyone.

Spent £20 yesterday on Chinese takeaway at friends house (my treat)
It was lovely to catch up.

I have woken up today with sore joints and feel as if I'm coming down with something. This is not unusual for me but in the current climate makes you paranoid. I have no idea how we will all cope with winter colds Sad

Lonely sorry that things are so relentless financially at the moment. Everything seems much more expensive now and with less money coming in and nothing spare to begin with it must be so hard. Stupid question but have you checked to see if you're entitled to any more tax credits? Is your partner claiming everything he is entitled to - it sounds as if he's quite debilitated from his previous injury? I hope things pick up soon and well done to your dd.

Sing I have used subscribe and save but I think you need to be careful as the prices on Amazon can vary quite a bit so you need to check that the price hasn't gone up before your next delivery. Good luck with the job application.

north I'm glad you are feeling a bit more positive about things.

Happier that's a shame you need to pay for another valuation. It seems very unfair given the circumstances.

Mrs I hope your dd's throat is better today that must have been very frightening for both of you.

Wolfcub · 19/08/2020 11:15

Just to flag for all public servants who are in the public service pensions scheme including nurses and teachers, if you haven't read the pension equality consultation guide, and you were in the cs between 31/03/12 and 1/04/2015 it's an important read. It's on gov.uk

Taytocrisps · 19/08/2020 14:00

I popped into the uniform shop to get school trousers and a P.E. top for DD. Everything else still fits her. I got the P.E. top but they're waiting for more trousers to come in (they had some but not in DD's size). I was chatting to the lady in the shop and she said the factory that makes the trousers was closed for a few weeks because of Covid-19. It seems to be impacting everything. Good thing I didn't leave it until the last minute to get them.

Storm Ellen is due later so we're expecting very strong winds. I must make sure the cats are in before 9 o'clock tonight. Met Éireann is particularly concerned about tourists who might be camping out!

Spends today

€xxxx legal fees
€15 P.E. top
€4.38 top up shop

I need to do a proper shop instead of top up shops but I'm away this weekend so there didn't seem much point. I'll book a slot for next week instead.

Happierwithouthim · 19/08/2020 14:35

Life away tomo night & fri night with bf once red warning passes over us.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/08/2020 15:14

Batten down the hatches over there.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/08/2020 17:46

Thanks wolf

Unescorted · 19/08/2020 17:47

thanks

Unescorted · 19/08/2020 17:59

That is a morning document.

Lovemaltesers · 19/08/2020 18:24

Thanks for the link wolf. Both DP and I have now left CS, but we were in the scheme during some of those years. My retirement plans are based on getting this pension at 60 😆 I fear we may never be able to retire at a decent age from current jobs so the CS pensions may tide us over.

I can’t remember who asked, but it’s now exactly a month until the wedding Shock . Feeling quite chilled really but we do need to have more discussions about the reception, as people were planning that on our behalf whilst we were sorting the ceremony etc and now I’d like to reclaim it!

LonelyOversharer · 19/08/2020 18:55

Still feeling blue. Actually ((screamed)) at dp that if he didn't sort his shit out he could f-off and live with his mother. I did warn him I was wobbling before I did this!

We are in catch 22. Still on tax credits, can't apply for pip (that we'd never get first try) for dp without changing to universal credit. Can't live for 5 weeks while they process it, so can't switch. Before covid I was saving up to bridge the gap, but that's been filtered back in to keep me out of the overdraft.

I dare say we will survive.

Spent £10 topping up my phone, and £9 on cat litter, crisps and a lucky dip. Desperate much!

Right, off to watch a smushy film and do some stitching, I'm never blue for long. Just have to wait for it to pass xx

SingToTheSky · 19/08/2020 19:02

Would you actually change to UC before being awarded PIP though? I’d have hoped it would only count as a change when they said yes? :(
