Apparently massive pipe burst fairly near so we have saved some water just in case they switch it off 🙄

howlathebees · 13/08/2020 10:47

Thank you snuggly I will have a look at them recipes!

Great news unescorted!!

north I hope you can get into contact with the correct people who can sort this out❤️

I got no sleep at all last night, it’s a bit cooler today but still hot. So I’m ordering subway for lunch and DH can do tea (because he was snoring away all night), and we’re having a film day.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/08/2020 10:56

Ring them north. It's a phone call and it might be enough. Nothing to lose

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 13/08/2020 11:11

Definitely ring them north. Your ds has worked so so hard. Have my 🤞🏻 and everything else for him x

grannycake · 13/08/2020 12:14

Sea I'm a longtime lurker but am posting as I live on Gower. All those born in the Swansea area will swear by Joes icecream - there is a parlour in Mumbles and another by the Guildhall. It's OK but I much prefer the icecream at Verdis - also on the front at Mumbles but slightly away from the main part - just head towards the pier.

If you're looking for quiet beaches and you don't mind a bit of a walk Fall Bay is lovely.

Otherwise Rhossili/Llangennith is so huge you can always walk along the beach away from the carparks and find some really quiet spots. At the Rhossili end there are a number of steep steps. I would park at Hillend in Llangennith and walk onto the beach though the dunes and once on the beach turn left and head towards Worms Head. Once you've gone away from the caravan site it'll will be very quiet. At lower tides there is the bones of a shipwreck in the sand that my DC used to love

Lovemaltesers · 13/08/2020 12:15

Sorry to hear that north, your DS has had a terrible last few years. Hopefully you can sort something 🤞

Great news unescorted DD 👍

We’ve just spent £120 on two pairs of school shoes and two pairs of bridesmaids shoes 😫 Asda didn’t have the various bits of school uniform we needed but we can wait a bit for them.

grannycake · 13/08/2020 12:17

And while I'm delurking North get your DS to get in touch with the Uni. I'm in education and believe that unis will be more flexible this year than ever before - they are going to lose out on international students and are desperate for the income

Lovemaltesers · 13/08/2020 14:19

Finally got our thunder and rain. 20 degrees now, woohoo! Time to cool down

Fearofawelshplanet · 13/08/2020 14:35

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome, in the past I have posted about saving for a beetle, then I sold it and saved for a campervan and relocated to Wales. Luckily my husband and I remain employed, but I feel life and jobs are no longer certain, so I want to just start to save and reign in the silly spending habits start saving ahead of the winter. So that's my situation..

Fearofawelshplanet · 13/08/2020 14:36

Really hope anyone awaiting results today has got what they need.🤞

Mrsmadevans · 13/08/2020 14:37

@ChristmasSeacow

I get that practice makes a huge difference, but I don’t think most people would get anywhere near that standard even with twice the hard work. That is Actual Talent.

A quick one for Mrs and Fear. Are there any really nice ice cream places in the area, do you know? I’d like to take the kids out for a lovely
Ice cream (it’s a big deal for DS to be tempted to choose for himself). Don’t mind a drive. Forecast for the next week is crap so we need a few plans that are not weather-dependent!

www.verdis-cafe.co.uk/ SEA It's amazing but a bit expensive Smile
Fearofawelshplanet · 13/08/2020 14:40

sea - Joe's is nice! One in mumbles or swansea

Fearofawelshplanet · 13/08/2020 14:41

Granny, the gower is beautiful. I am very jealous of where you live Wink

Fearofawelshplanet · 13/08/2020 14:44

Just read whole thread, did type a message but its disappeared, just to say to North sorry to hear your sons news, really hope it comes through for him. So unfair

Mrsmadevans · 13/08/2020 14:46

North l am so sorry they were not the results your son wanted bless him. l am sure you will be able to sort a really good course from these resuts because BBD IS NOTHING TO BE SNEEZED AT let's face it !
Also can you imagine these results are going to be echoed all over the UK and the Uni's will have to take this into consideration and make allowances Flowers

Mrsmadevans · 13/08/2020 14:48

@Girliefriendlikespuppies

No Mrs the waggon they're staying in is in the middle of a field and is pretty basic, they'll basically be camping! My mum keeps going on about the good Welsh air though 😁
Ohhh l am sure they will love it Smile Tell them to go to Folly Farm and Manor house park they are really lovely places Smile
Mrsmadevans · 13/08/2020 14:50

@Unescorted

She got in I can go champagne shopping now
Congatulations to your Dd LOVELY NEWS ! Smile
Unescorted · 13/08/2020 15:06

Granny stay Grin

I could so do with some Ice Cream ….

grannycake · 13/08/2020 15:16

Unescorted You can make a no-churn icecream by mixing a large tin of caramel condensed milk with equal amounts of double cream. Freeze until it hardens and then mix it through before refreezing. I add chopped fingers of fudge at the second freeze. Its really nice but not so good for the waistline

Wolfcub · 13/08/2020 15:21

Free day out to the beach in the sky today, Unescorted might know where I mean. We were going to go for ice cream but ds is only interested in his Xbox and I couldn't stand another hour of moaning so we came home.

Agree re making the call North, I'm sure it all seems very frustrating and pointless at the moment but it can't do any harm and may do some good. If his mates have all got predicted grades and he hasn't got what he was predicted then I'd appeal too. Sending you both a massive Unmumsnetty hug

I love all those places, Granny! We had a fabulous holiday on the Gower 2 years ago and hope to go back next year, you are very lucky to live there!
Wolfcub · 13/08/2020 15:49

Single sofa bed ordered for the office and double sofa bed ordered for the attic. Fed up of waiting for ex to move his shit.

Lovely title
Missed ye lot
I've been life busy, haven't been spending much though
Today I bought the school books €164, I didn't get any grocery shopping this week though because dc are with their dad

ememem84 · 13/08/2020 16:20

went to b&q with DH today. we've got our eye on an egg chair and a bench for the garden. he's going to go back later on his way to get the kids and order it. yay!

LonelyOversharer · 13/08/2020 17:19

I had to food shop, as, yeah, hungry people. Aldi £75. Just food. Sigh, it will barely last a few days.

But, dp seems to have fixed my car! It's been up on a jack for a month, poor thing. And it started on the first turn! Love my car. Suppose I'd better check it's mot now.
