Just reading on another thread a teacher reporting 40% of grades dropped by 1 or 2 at a high achieving grammar, trying to stay calm.......failing! No sign of ds yet. Will wake him in a few mins. Just feel better for posting here, not expecting replies!

LonelyOversharer · 13/08/2020 07:46

Fingers crossed guys 🤞🤞🤞
Whichever way it falls it will be alright. Its just this next 20 minutes that's the worst bit.
I think this year the issue is the lack of exams and the grading. What a mess! Bloody 2020. From what I heard yesterday it's going to be very easy (theoretically) to appeal if results are very different from mocks.

Yesterday was too hot for me to be at home (on a ship in the Gulf, yes fine, but chuffing Cumbria? No). Dipped out and watched a lot of US documentaries on poverty for reasons unknown.

Picked dd3 up from her pals and needed fuel and milk, so £22. No food in the house it seems. Fridge literally bare. It's like living with locusts.

If it's any consolation snuggly we do a load a day, or 3 every 3 days and don't do bedding every week and the clothes get bigger as time ticks on and fill the machine faster.

A last good luck wish to your dds unescorted and Adora

Lovemaltesers · 13/08/2020 07:52

Good luck to all the DCs with their results 🤞

Congratulations to your dd Unescorted, fantastic news!

Unescorted · 13/08/2020 08:06

I can feel the stress draining. Her Boyf also got the grades he needed.

LonelyOversharer · 13/08/2020 08:07

unescorted Fabulous!!! What a relief!

Hope the news is equally good north and adora 💖💖

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 13/08/2020 08:10

Fantastic unescorted 🥂 you must be so proud of her.

I'm also knackered after a crap nights sleep, it's just too hot and sticky. Plus I got awful cramp in my calf's last night, probably need to drink more water...

Unescorted · 13/08/2020 08:10

Hope so too. This year has been so badly handled. The kids are all stars for just getting through it all.

northender · 13/08/2020 08:10

Great news unescorted. Bad news here.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/08/2020 08:11

Hooray! Well done DD! You’re going to have the time of your life.

Hope the other exam kids North and Adora are okay. Have I missed anyone?

ChristmasSeacow · 13/08/2020 08:12

Cross posted with North. Oh no ☹️

Any prospect of clearing?

Wolfcub · 13/08/2020 08:16

Oh no North, poor ds when he's worked so hard. Can he appeal?

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 13/08/2020 08:30

Oh no North, your ds has worked so hard!

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/08/2020 08:37

Hurrah unescorted DD who is beautiful and talented.

Sorry to hear about DS North. He is also ace. Hope there are options for him now. X

Unescorted · 13/08/2020 08:50

Ohhhh North Sad - the message on the news this morning is to call the uni. It is so badly managed & there appears to be a lot of wriggle room.

SingToTheSky · 13/08/2020 08:54

Well done unescorted DD - love the insta page, she’s awesome! (And very pretty!)

North that’s so sad, I’m sorry he’s got bad news after all he’s been dealing with, that’s just so unfair :( hope you can have an easy day today and regroup when he’s ready to decide what’s next xx

Not being very frugal here, more friends are ready to meet and do normal stuff now which is great (I’ve been ready for a long time and it’s been a bit lonely tbh!) and between lunches and an imax film on Monday it’s all adding up! 😳

But we have sorted some other things like those account fees and stuff so on balance things are a bit better really.

Need to figure out the plan for DS’ birthday (he’s going to be 11 which means phone! But he’s happy with an old one knocking around so just need to sort the sim, we all use giffgaff). Cagletini is 3 in October 😱 scary!

SnugglySnerd · 13/08/2020 09:00

Sorry North, after all his hard work. I hope he has some options e.g. clearing.

Congratulations Unescorted's dd!

Fingers crossed for you Adora.

ememem84 · 13/08/2020 09:24

Congrats unescorted Dd

north oh poor ds. Get onto the uni straight away.

northender · 13/08/2020 09:42

Thanks for all the messages. Ds is devastated as all his friends have excelled and got what they wanted and he knows that he is capable of just as much. There have been many tears, his and mine. It feels like the final kick in the teeth of the most awful 3 years. He got BBD & needed ABB so I'm not sure it's worth ringing. I've asked college to ring me for some advice. He doesn't want to leave home at the moment, so we're limited in choice. He has an unconditional offer from local uni but can't face the thought of that (old poly with not great reputation). I just don't know what to advise.

SingToTheSky · 13/08/2020 09:51

It might still be worth fighting it, I don’t know how it all works but if he’s got considerably lower than his friends could it be that they’ve taken attendance into account maybe, did he miss a lot in fatigue flare ups? Given his health issues it would be astoundingly unfair to use that against him and they should reconsider? (Disclaimer I may be completely barking up the wrong tree) 💐

Unescorted · 13/08/2020 10:03

North it is always worth a call - they may say yes when the circumstances are explained. There are really good unis who are fishing around for students. QMUL have been replying to tweets from 6th form colleges with their number.
