How is everyone feeling today em?

I had a bit of a wobble last night, I’m really starting to miss my family. But my auntie made us a little family tree that she’s posted to us so I’m going to frame that.

NSD:

ChristmasSeacow · 15/05/2020 17:03

On schools. I believe the govt guidance suggests that for primary schools, if one person tests positive within a class or group, that group will need to isolate for 14 days. However, I imagine more people would hold their kids back from school if one class was quarantined.

Disturbed night as DS woke up screeching at 4am. The adrenaline rush meant i didn’t get back to sleep, am now a zombie. Off to rest my eyes, back later

ememem84 · 15/05/2020 17:35

icy ds has bounced right back. Dh is ok. Wiped out. But ok. He was up and about with us today for a bit.

Made pizza and arancini this evening.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/05/2020 18:27

Lots of schools are still trying to get their heads around the guidance and how to implement it.

No other spends today but we are having the first take away in weeks tomorrow

northender · 15/05/2020 21:11

What takeaway are you going for life?
No results yet then Em? Glad they are both feeling better
My aunty called round after work last night, she didn't come in but we went for a walk from here, kept distanced & it was lovely. Our tea was ready when we got back so I packed her up some so that she didn't have to fuss when she got home (she lives on her own).

Got a lovely sourdough freebie yesterday. Dd & I went to a local cheese producer who thought he was going to go out of business with lockdown, so he turned his packing shed into a shop to sell his cheese. Since then various other suppliers have approached him to sell their produce (olives, artisan bread, fruit& veg, meat). Thursday is a bad day to go apparently as all the suppliers deliver on Fridays. Anyway, we bought some cheese & he gave us a lovely grainy sourdough loaf, just past its best. It is soooo good toasted. I'm sending dh back tomorrow for some fresh when he takes my parents groceries to them.

We did the Virtual Pub Quiz too, 32 for us last night, impressive score snuggly

northender · 15/05/2020 21:13

Forgot to say, great news for your dd unescorted, you must all feel relieved

maddenlightfoot · 16/05/2020 07:54

How are things with ds now wolf? People take their frustrations out on those they're closest too (especially children with their mums), but that is still not an excuse for that behaviour.

Sorry I haven't been on for a few days - so bogged down with school return and Union wrangling. My school are being really proactive and very supportive of staff but I'm supporting the Unions to secure safer working practices for staff and children.

Lots of NSDs this week, my spending reflex has definitely improved since lockdown. Saw some bargain toys on FB that I could have put away for Xmas but I'm trying a different approach this year. Usually I buy through the year but have decided to save until the last minute this year to avoid any fickle-changes from my children so I resisted! Also decided that dd8 needed an extra unit in her bedroom for Lego etc. Would normally plan to pop to ikea over the weekend but with some inventive shuffling around, I've repurposed a 2x2 kallax that we already had. Really need to keep some of these good habits going when the shops re-open!

Mrsmadevans · 16/05/2020 08:43

Morning 🌞
Am interested in the take aways . We are too afraid to have one here. I shudder when we get a letter or parcel l don't want any contact with any trace of virus. Think l need to have counselling when this is all over 🙄🤯
Off to Mum and Bob in a min
Watched Mindhunter , the Sinner both excellent 👍🤗
Am going to give Bordertown a try now. But it may be too violent for me. I like psychological crime drama whodunnits but not graphic violence 🤪🤪🙄
Hope everyone is ok
Em glad DH&Ds are feeling better 💐

Bornlazy · 16/05/2020 09:10

We had a Chinese takeaway last night and it was delicious. First takeaway I’ve enjoyed since Lockdown. DH collected it and for some reason that made me more relaxed about it. I think it might be the driver going from house to house that I worry most about.

NSD planned here We are going to attempt a BBQ this afternoon if it stays dry as ds have both been asking for one for ages now.

I’m about to start Dead To Me season 2 on Netflix but first dh is watching season 1 so we can watch it together. It’s an easy watch which is good as my concentration isn’t great at the moment.

DH’s uncle has died quite suddenly with CV. He was in his late 80’s but still very sad especially as DH just lost his mum at the start of March. He hasn’t even had a chance to properly grieve yet because we were thrown into this madness almost immediately after it.

ememem84 · 16/05/2020 09:37

Morning all.

I woke up about an hour ago. I vaguely recall dh coming in to get Dd at stupid o clock. When I woke up there was a cup of tea waiting for me.

Today’s plans - catch up a bit with chores, do some laundry and have a check of personal emails. Need to do some decluttering there.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 16/05/2020 09:46

We've had a Dominoes take away and got fish and chips from a van last week, we're not dead yet 😉

The dementors thread is keeping me sane!!

Glad it's Saturday, going to have poached eggs on toast for breakfast and meeting a friend for a socially distanced catch up later on.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 16/05/2020 10:09

Hi all, fell off the last thread, I just had to take some time away from the internet.

Thanks for the new Fred lane!

Em, hope you are all doing a bit better now, have you had the results back yet?

Unescorted, that is such brilliant news, well done to your dd 🎉🎉

Born, I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers

Spends have mostly been on food shopping but I did get a deal on a pair of air max's, £55 instead of £90.

I will try my hardest to keep up this time!

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/05/2020 11:47

Chinese North.
Had a frugal use up food today. Random veg quiche, aubergine potato and chickpeas curry.
Need to bake treats but out of eggs. Also our of white bread. Going for a walk near a farm shop today.

ememem84 · 16/05/2020 11:56

Still no results. Dh has gone back to bed. Both kids are screaming. Ds won’t do anything. Dd is teething. I am absolutely at the end of my exhausted tether.

Usually when things are like this I’d go out for a walk. But not allowed technically.

SnugglySnerd · 16/05/2020 12:22

Sorry to hear about DH's uncle Born.

We have actually ventured out in the car today for the first time. Only for a walk to spot some ducklings but it was so nice to go somewhere different and see how excited the dcs were to be out and about.

Pleased dh is on the mend Em, I hope he doesn't overdo it if he still needs to rest. I know it hard doing it all on your own though. Hang on in there!

ememem84 · 16/05/2020 14:04

NEGATIVE!!!! Wahoooooo!!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 16/05/2020 14:52

Brilliant new em!!

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/05/2020 15:02

Great news em. Tbh I would have just done out somewhere quiet.

Sorry about duncle born.

My sour doughx 2 starters have gone bad. Not bothered again. Have freebies envy though.

£15 farm shop.

I will collect the Chinese. I'm not very risk averse so thing like that in ok with. Horse for course.

Wolfcub · 16/05/2020 15:14

Great news Em

Born so sorry to hear about your uncle

Things still tough here plus no sleep as ds up all night. Zzzzz very tired.

Alternating between doing jobs and reading books. I'm on my third of the week so far

Unescorted · 16/05/2020 16:21

Afternoon.

Born sorry about DUnc.
Em great news. You must be so relieved.

We have the worst take aways here. So we cook our own - I am cooking more authentic Cantonese here because of DD2's influence. It tastes nothing like take away Chinese. My woks aren't great - wrong shape apparently. She has asked her ex step dad to post us some. He lives near one of the big Chinese supermarkets..... I suspect we are going to get a box of traditional ingredients too. We are getting quicker at dumplings.

Thanks for all the DD1 love... she is cracking on reading the suggested reading list.

I have been baking - scones (chive, sour cream and feta), Cornish pasties, quiche and savoury tarts. There is little else to do … the village is rammed with travelling exercisers so we are staying in. Fortunately DH volunteered to do a big supermarket shop yesterday, our local FB page says it is a 30 minute wait to get into the village shop...

To make it safer for visitors a lot of the farm stock was moved yesterday and gates propped / tied open. Our local businesses will need the visitors so we don't want to put them off by making it difficult.

Unescorted · 16/05/2020 16:27

wolf have you looked to see if your part of CS do support. I know ours are - up to 50 hours for anyone in the household.

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/05/2020 17:04

Wolf do you need a Skype vent?

£10.30 Chinese for DC.
I found that with Indians years ago after working in Mumbai. English curry are just not the same.

SnugglySnerd · 16/05/2020 20:02

Yay! Great news, Em!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 16/05/2020 21:32

madden I love a good rearrange, we did that at beginning of lockdown in the girls room we actually have empty space under the beds and empty kallax cubes. DH goes mad as I move furniture constantly 🤣

em that's great news about DH. I'm sure you can go out just not into anywhere? So walking around outside is ok.

We've had takeaways, I always regret them. I have IBS and the greasiness flares it up so I'm nearly always unwell for several days afterwards.

Today I did a quiz with 8 friends which was nice, I stuck TV on and left dds with snacks so I could catch up in peace!! Finished week 1 of couch to 5k with dd1. Spent £45 yesterday in lidl and £35 on iceland shop that came today. Loads of stuff in the cupboards and freezer now so should be ok except for fresh bits for at least 2 weeks.

Tomorrow planning on a walk along the beach with dds and I've seen some posters I want to recreate. The 'in this house we do' style ones but adapt them to fit films we've been enjoying during lockdown... then I can get some frames once this is all over.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 16/05/2020 21:36

I'm sorry I did use paragraphs but they disappeared!!

Forgot to add the present I bought dd2 arrived from ebay, super chuffed it's in fantastic condition. Also bought the hobbit films on DVD as DH wanted to show them to the girls £6 from Ebay. Just got to find the addams family ones at a reasonable price, dd1 keeps asking to watch them again.
