What a nightmare for you all Em, I hope dh and ds get better quickly.

I've been wondering why it was so quiet on the thread. It only just occurred to me that the thread was full and there would be a new one Blush

Thanks for the new thread btw.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/05/2020 16:51

Is it allowed to see family in Jersey now Em? If it isn’t can’t see why anyone would get into trouble with contact tracing.

Sent DH out for bread, fish fingers and fruit today (we just don’t have the freezer space for a week’s worth of bread!) But I’ve not spent anything. I’m not being anywhere near productive enough work-wise with the DC around though. I’ll need to start doing more in the evenings Confused

Wolfcub · 13/05/2020 17:24

Girlie you do right. I wish I could send ds somewhere he tried to punch me in the face today and screamed obscenities about me in my face. He is not coping with lockdown at all the longer it goes on the closer we get to actual violence to a person. As it is it's things that are taking the brunt of it and my feelings!

Em hopefully results are negative. Dparents are unfair I think to put that pressure on you

Vaccine may be like the immunity passports they suggested. Proof of vaccine allows you into work, school and on public transport and freedom of movement. Not sure public will accept it

ememem84 · 13/05/2020 17:40

Yes girlie we’re allowed to see family now. Only 5 people and only outside.

Dms being ridiculous. I told her I wasn’t having the conversation any more and would deal when we got the results if I had to. No point in my opinion what iffing until we know for sure whether it’s a yes or a no.

Given dms past history of always wanting the last word I’m suprised she hasn’t come round here this afternoon.

The phrase “think about your father and me. If we have to stay in for 14 days it’ll destroy us”. I pointed out that I have to stay in for 14 days. And it’s hard going. And there’s nothing wrong with me!!

Lovemaltesers · 13/05/2020 18:46

Flowers em, you could really do without the guilt trip. Hope the results come back soon!

I may have rather awkwardly refused to shake someone’s hand today. The other people in the room announced they had already shook hands with them Hmm

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/05/2020 19:12

Don't blame you love.

That's mean of d parents em. It's not like you did it on purpose. Hope it's not C and "just" a virus.

£11 spicery for more mixes.

Can't help you on the holiday sorry meadow. We are in a similar dilemma for ours. I think we are going to roll forward for next year and take a flight voucher to rebook. Not sure whether to hold out on flights or take a voucher now.

Oh dear wolf. Any thoughts on DS going to his dad or still a no?

Youth hostel are taking bookings from 1 August. Thin we will do that this year instead

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/05/2020 19:16

Bollocks short link didn't work. Was it sea who asked for it? Any how here it is

ememem84 · 13/05/2020 19:56

Just been outside to bring my plants in. There was a bag on the door. Turns out dsis has been up.

Cans of g&t chocolate and some popcorn. Yay.

Mrsmadevans · 13/05/2020 20:00

Wolf Flowers

Mrsmadevans · 13/05/2020 20:02

Em you have a wonderful sis, hope the Dh & Ds are feeling better this evening Smile

ememem84 · 13/05/2020 20:35

Dh hasn’t taken any paracetamol today. Ds seems to be back to his normal self. He’s eaten loads drunk loads. Temp is relatively normal (although still on the high side so still calpol). All in bed.

I’m watching “the order” on Netflix. I’m having a gin and snuggle with catface.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 13/05/2020 23:26

Blimey wolf that sounds really tough, I think this lockdown is so hard on single parents. Although I'm used to doing everything solo at least dd is at school/doing her own thing usually and I have friends and family to support me. Now it's just dd and me 24/7 it's very intense at times.

Found a tic on the dog tonight 😱 pulling it off was the single most disgusting thing I have ever done and that really is saying something 🤮

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 14/05/2020 00:37

We have had an expensive week in our house. We took the cat to the vet on Sunday as she has been off her food and we were worried. They thought her ears were infected and that it was affecting her mouth/jaw, making it painful to eat. So they wanted to do a CT and examine her under anaesthetic to make sure, which we agreed to. They sent a swab off too. The CT showed nothing seriously wrong, they gave us some antibiotic drops for her ears and a painkiller. They were fantastic with her and I’m so grateful we live close to a 24 hour vet, however we came away £1700 poorer! She’s insured, thankfully and we’ve made the claim so waiting to hear. Puss seems to be getting better though the painkiller made her sick so we’ve stopped that. She’s eating better now and seems to have forgiven us bar the ear drops. The vet have followed up by phone, they are sending the CT to a cat specialist, though they think it’s ok, and may keep her on the ABs for another week or two. They will ring again on Saturday. So we’ve been worried, she’s like a child to us, so timid, sweet and gentle. We were thankful Mr Duchess had the ready money saved, you never know what you need, though the insurance lady thought there would be no difficulty.
My Mum, who is eighty and lives up North is keeping well and enjoying her Iceland orders which I’ve been doing online for her. She’s been contacted by the cleaning agency she normally uses who have said they’d be able to start coming to clean for her again. Even though they promise to use gloves, masks etc, I’ve advised her not to have them for the moment. They bring their own materials and hoover and I don’t know how many clients they have. I’m sorry for it and Mum’s disappointed not to have them, but she can do a bit herself.
Blessed peace of a day off in the morning, will try to get all shipshape before two night shifts. I’d like to do a bit of cooking and baking too.
I’d like to add my best wishes for a negative result, Em and hope you and yours stay well.

ChristmasSeacow · 14/05/2020 07:12

Wow, pets can be so expensive!

Got to get organised to do some productive work today, Zoom night with friends later so we also have to eat early with the kids. And I need to finish the Ocado order too.

I finished a lace panel on my knitting last night and I’m two stitches short of the 334 I should have Angry. I should rip it back but I don’t think there’s anything visibly wrong with the lace pattern, I think it’s a mistake at the edge so I might just fudge it. Hmm.

Have a good day everyone

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/05/2020 07:15

£80 ish Sainsbury's order to collect tonight.

Nice day here. Not much else to report in the life house. Well not that's a moan about work load. Grin

ememem84 · 14/05/2020 08:03

Morning all. Hoping for a quiet day here as I’m so so tired.

Really want to try and get some cleaning done.

Me and the kiddos have been up since 6. Dh still asleep. Whatever it is that he has has absolutely floored him. Dm suggested I get him to help out but I’m working on the basis that he obviously needs to rest so let him rest and he’s there if I absolutely need him.

girlie (I think) asked yesterday about how our gov we’re planning on making corona vaccine mandatory. I believe they’re looking at changing our laws and suspect it’ll be a “you can’t go xyz or do xyz until you’ve had it” type thing.

My comment on our local news page was why not all vaccines. Some countries do this - no school if kids aren’t vaccinated etc. I got absolutely shot down because: a) we should be allowed choice (?); b) some vaccines have really bad side effects (MMR was quoted here...) and c) personal freedom.

Mrsmadevans · 14/05/2020 08:26

Morning everyone 😀
Off to Monmouth this morning, Dd1 doing Mum and Bob for me 🤗👍👏
Em that's great news re DH and Ds 😀💐
Duchess thank goodness you have insurance but what a terrible cost. Makes me think if we had to pay for our own care it would be astronomical . 🥺 Glad your sweet little pussycat is getting better 🤗
Have a good day everyone 😀 will post my spends later 😀

MeadowHay · 14/05/2020 11:23

Life we've been offered vouchers for the flight to but only to use in 2021 and im not confident we will be able to travel then (not just covid but other personal/financial reasons too). So we are going to hold out.

Likely another NSD today as usual Grin

Rainb0w · 14/05/2020 14:51

NSD here today.

northender · 14/05/2020 15:09

Wow that is a huge vet bill Duchess, hope the insurance sorts it.
Em hope the tests are negative, your Dh sounds very similar to mine when he was ill. High temp suddenly, lasted for 48 hours, no taste or smell for 2 weeks & wiped out for 2 weeks, back to normal after 4 weeks. I'm sure it was covid, but no testing then.
Nothing major to report here. Ds made tea last night, dd made bread this morning & they are getting used to washing up now! Went to my mums this morning to try to sort the audio for zoom out on her tablet (failed) but came back with 3 jars of raspberry jam, 3 jars of plum jam, a jar of damson cheese and a carrier bag of frozen raspberries, black currants, rhubarb & damsons. She is trying to declutter, I'm happy to help!

IcyWind · 14/05/2020 17:43

I spent £5.49 (I think) on a twinkl subscription. I will cancel it after the first month though, but there’s a lot of things I can get now for the kids to do.

That sounds really difficult with your son wolf, how old is?

em I’m glad to hear that your DH and DS are doing better. How lovely of your Dsis to get you some goodies.

Duchess that’s a high bill!. Glad to hear your cats doing okay though.

We’ve spent the day doing home schooling, we have also put a fence up so that we can play in the garden without having our neighbours there. Everyone’s agreed to it so feeing much better that way.

Hope everyone’s wel!

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/05/2020 19:12

That's my kind of decluttering unescorted.
Hope puss is feeling better. That auto changed to piss which tells you my usual language level. Fingers x for insurance.

That's a pain meadow. If they cancel you are entitled to a refund. I've just changed ours for next year so will get vouchers for both so I can rebook when the flights come out. Looking at a youth hostel instead for those weeks. £470 for 4 or £759 for 7 nights in bath.

£26 on protein powder as well £1.30 bread and DH has gone to pick up my Sainsbury's order. Which has done bits missing and subbed.b

Wolfcub · 14/05/2020 19:21

I'm watching a thing about people on benefits in extreme debt. It's quite depressing.

I

Wolfcub · 14/05/2020 19:27
