Catching up with spends
Friday £11.96 lunch with after swim. DH wasn’t well enough for a valentines date so I bought my friend chips and a drink and we chatted about her new boyfriend :o
Sunday £50 tap invoice

Guess there’s advantages to not leaving the house much 😂 unfortunately aforementioned swim put me in flare up again despite being half what I normally do. Gutted.

We are getting healthy start vouchers now. Just had the “back payment” - £34.10 extra to spend on fruit veg and milk :o will reorganise the shopping a bit to use them in top ups as we normally order delivery but I don’t think they can be used online. We are definitely going to have a massive fancy fruit salad though.

Happierwithouthim · 18/02/2020 11:17

€15.75 initial payment for rental insurance, it'll be €10.68 monthly until I'm converting it to homeowners insurance when I buy my house.

Have got quotes for mortgage protection insurance and single life convertible cover insurance from mortgage provider. I already pay income protection and critical illness cover insurance. Anyone well versed in this kind of thing?

lane sorry to hear you've had a flare up again. That's nice about the healthy start vouchers, you won't feel guilty doing topup shops now.

MummySharn · 18/02/2020 11:52

@Wolfcub that’s a lot of money for your car, but you seem to be getting a lot done with it.

@maddenlightfoot how old is your DD? I’m not sure what age to start money managing with my DC

So far today I have spent £6 on some new school shoes for DD as she has ruined hers.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 18/02/2020 12:19

Welcome Mummy
Mrs, glad things have improved weather wise, sounds like you live near some wonderful people too.
Wolf, hope the car payment stays below £500 🤞
lane hope you feel better soon. Glad you are getting the healthy start vouchers, did you know that you can also buy plain frozen fruit and veg with them too?
Madden I have heard about the go Henry cards, do you have to pay a subscription to? My dd is 9 and would like one, but I'm torn on the idea, any information would be great, thank you Smile.

Spends yesterday
£11.45 lunch for me and dd2 in Costa.
£38.47 lidl, got loads for that including a door stop for the kitchen door, have been looking for a higher one for a while, so was pleased.
Lots of fruit, veg, bread, wraps, pittas, fillings for sandwiches and a few treats for the kids.
£11.30 in sainsbury's, but I had £10 in nectar points, (didn't even know!), so only cost me £1.30.
£33.20 in morrisons, but £15 of that was on a carafe and 6 glasses. Also had a £5 voucher so actual cost was £28.20. Got more fruit and a few frozen essentials.
Should have enough food to last the half term, but sometimes the kids eat loads.
Will do some baking with them too, to make everything go a bit further.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/02/2020 13:01

Mrs I don't think garages are allowed to do that any more re services and warranty. Check though, mse will know.

Ouch wolf. Big bill. How's the water levels your way?

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/02/2020 13:15

Go Henry is £2.99 per month. We went straight for a children's account but DD is as tight as me.

Sorry to hear about the flare up lane.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 18/02/2020 13:40

life do you find go Henry good? Is there any cons?

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/02/2020 14:18

I didn't do it as I didn't see what the money got me. I think if you have DC who go mad and you want lots of parental control it's worth getting, from what DD friends mam have said.
DD doesn't need that. DS however is a different story.
We went Nationwide children's account instead

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 18/02/2020 14:27

Sorry life misread that.
My dd has a nationwide account too.
When she turns 11 she can get a cash card, so will probably just wait, she seems ok with money. It's only when she sees other kids using a card when we are out that she starts going on about it.

Mrsmadevans · 18/02/2020 15:16

@lifelongfrugaleer l thought as much but tbh we just felt unable to go to another garage other than Hyundai because they do give you the hard sell especially as it was our first dealings with them having always had Fords before. I think this year we will be forewarned is forearmed and we won't be such easy meat Hmm Thank you for explaining . I will check it out further in MSE before we need the next service for definite Smile
Only went to Tesco and bought a new white short for DD2 for work £11 and a bit of grocery shopping £36 in Tesco. I bought some lovely books from there in the sale . l will take a pic and show you now Smile
@LaneBoy l hope you are ok Flowers.l don't know what condition you have but it sounds a bit like Fibro to me . My Mum suffers with it badly especially after doing stuff even everyday stuff like getting up in the morning .

MummySharn · 18/02/2020 15:55

Spent £5 in co-op getting some after nursery treats for DD and a cake for pudding. Not leaving the house now so that’s all my spends for today

Wolfcub · 18/02/2020 16:18

Car was £330. Winner

Flood recovery people have been to do their assessment and inventory so things are moving in that respect.

Ds has built the Lego he bought yesterday

I've dog sat, bleached everywhere the flood guys have been, cleaned all the internal glass - windows, cabinets, mirrors, picture glass etc and read lots. Cuppa time now.

It's ok Mrs. Just didn't want you thinking you have to go to the dealer

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 18/02/2020 17:44

Wolf, good result on the car bill!

What did the doc say about DH yesterday em?

We’ve had a lovely day out at Chessington, but very chilly. Now at the hotel. Had main meal in restaurant, ordered dessert then DD1 was sick in the toilets. She says she’s really cold and now gone to bed. DD2 has her heart set on the disco that starts at 8pm so will be a bit of tag teaming. So may be a fun night!

Wolfcub · 18/02/2020 19:01

Cajun red rice for tea, with added baby stir fry veg because I had a sad looking pack. Not as weird as it counts

€3 pack of meatballs cooked in yellow sticker arrabiata pasta sauce with a few stray sundried tomatoes, made 3 portions & was absolutely delicious. While oven was on I also made garlic chicken with 2 chicken fillets that needed using, split the spice pack between the chicken & meatballs. 5 dinners made for about €8

SnugglySnerd · 18/02/2020 19:45

You've all been chatty today! Will read back in a minute.
Had to buy bananas and eggs as the kids have already eaten the ones I bought on Sunday. Ffs.

ememem84 · 18/02/2020 20:11

@Lovemaltesers dh is having bloods tomorrow. Sadly no time to do them yesterday.

She thinks it could be one of w number of things being:

Random virus
Stress reaction
Iron deficiency
Liver problems (this is worst case)

Any combination of the first three would work out!

LaneBoy · 18/02/2020 20:36

Yep mrsmad it’s fibro, I also have something called PoTS (postural tachycardia syndrome) which was very mild until mid Jan when I relapsed for some reason. Fibro flare on top now is meaning I’m pretty pissed off lol

Happierwithouthim · 18/02/2020 20:43

€1.20 sliced pan, didn't think of midterm & all the extra toast being consumed Grin
It's 69c in Dunnes Sad

Mrsmadevans · 18/02/2020 21:18

@lifelongfrugaleer l have never heard of POTS but l know about Fibro because of Mum of course. She feels so awful some days , like she is burning, she says that is the worst thing for her. I don't know what it is like but l know how bad it is and l know there isn't a lot you can do about it too. She takes pain relief but it is not much good tbh. I hope you don't suffer too badly & it clears up quickly for you Flowers

Mrsmadevans · 18/02/2020 21:22

I am so sorry @LaneBoy I meant my last post for you of course but l am not very good with the blinking @ thing yet lol , l will get there !
