madden our house alarm went off in the middle of the night last week and no one stirred except me, this thing was blaring!

I can imagine how impressed you were at being wakened the second time!

Happierwithouthim · 17/02/2020 15:22

Fearofawelshplanet · 17/02/2020 15:57

Hi sharn..i keep a book too. I managed to get promoted to level 3 to cover maternity but im back to level 2 next month, my budget will be super tight then, the book really helps. Theres loads of tips on here and links to super threads with loads of tips in the Jan thread i think

MummySharn · 17/02/2020 16:03

@Fearofawelshplanet I will have a nosey at that thread thank you. I find my problem is I’ll go to the local shop to get a pint of milk and then end up spending £40 on crap I don’t need

Happierwithouthim · 17/02/2020 16:49

mummy have you room in the freezer? I buy my milk/bread at my grocery shop and freeze it, no top up shops for milk/bread.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/02/2020 17:20

Hi mummy.
£5 trampoline slushy.
That's it. Baking for stables and run out of stuff so will need a baking stock up. No urgency. Yy I went into Sainsbury's for 2 things and came out £25 lighter. Also£55 millets as needed camping trousers

ememem84 · 17/02/2020 17:28

Nsd today. Wahooo! Dh is ok I think. No actual sick last night just nausea. And tummy cramps this morning. He’s been to work has eaten and is now at the dr. I’m sat in dr car park waiting for him.

He did a google (danger!!) and google told him somethings up with his liver function. Apparently nausea plus cramping plus funny poop (sorry) can mean this. So he’s gone to get it checked out. He’s not usually a worrier. So I think he is concerned.

I suggested while he was there he asked for info re the ship. But apparently not the time or the place.

MummySharn · 17/02/2020 18:17

@Happierwithouthim I do have room that’s a good idea, I’m usually okay with a 4pint for a week but DS has started drinking more milk so have been left short lately

Fearofawelshplanet · 17/02/2020 18:27

Sharn - same here. I buy 6pts x2 from supermarket and 2 loaves, this has stopped it a bit. I find if i dont log on here im worse. I like the NSD, makes me question every spend...

Accidentalaccountant · 17/02/2020 18:33

£30 pet food.£10 fruit and salad. Story of my life.

Wolfcub · 17/02/2020 19:37

£26 Tesco's. I would have been so much better doing a proper Ocado shop late last week but I was trying to save money. I really should learn. Every February is a nightmare

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 17/02/2020 22:03

Day off today, much vegetating but have done laundry, dishwasher, bin, recycling as usual. Making inroads into eating up from the freezer, made a chicken, leek and bacon dish. And set a blackcurrent jelly. Very fond of jelly, with or without ice cream. Spends, about £17 at the Coop.
Oh, and sorted out a large box of books to donate to NT bookshop.

MummySharn · 17/02/2020 22:29

@Fearofawelshplanet It’s only the 3 of us and DS has only just started drinking milk so it’s come as a shock how much milk I get through now. I’ve got to start logging what I buy on here as I’ll feel guilty if I go crazy down the co-op

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 17/02/2020 22:38

@MummySharn, would it be worth getting a couple of litres of uht milk. It’s not to everyone’s taste I know, but I find it helpful to have some in the cupboard. I don’t mind it, even for cereal.

MummySharn · 17/02/2020 22:56

That’s a cracking idea! @TheDuchessofDukeStreet

Wolfcub · 18/02/2020 06:54

Mrsmadevans · 18/02/2020 08:03

Weather is ok here thankfully
Rivers back in their banks but more forecast for tomorrow , we shall see 🙄
Have a great day everyone 😀

Wolfcub · 18/02/2020 08:04

One of last years was my own fault for driving in to a wall though.

This time it's full service, mot, the glow plugs I didn't have done in October and a new light fitting as mine is leaking and shorting and has some rotten pins (I have tried repairing this myself to save money but no joy)

maddenlightfoot · 18/02/2020 08:15

I wish I did Mrs as then I'd get to spend even more time there! It's just one of our favourite places to get away for a weekend of walking and good pubs! (We're over the bridge in Bristol).

About £100 on half term 'essentials'. Not helped by the fact that I forgot the dts suitcase so had to buy some emergency clothes for them.

Paid £1000 off our cc last night. Haven't had a cc for years but got one for the sole purpose of booking flights (was caught out by Thomas Cook last year). It's a 0% on purchases and I had the money in our joint account to pay it, however I'd found myself getting quite used to seeing that money in our account so decided to pay it off ASAP before I got too complacent.

In other money news, have opened a Go Henry account for dd. She'll be getting this as part of her birthday in March. I've pre-loaded £20 and she'll get £2pw pocket money with the chance to earn extra by doing a few chores.

Mrsmadevans · 18/02/2020 08:24

@maddenlightfoot ahh l know it's just lovely there , l am totally biased btw 😁 they won the High St of the year competition and it was so well deserved. It's getting back to normal there now but awaiting the rain tomorrow with a bit of trepidation l can tell you 🙄
Everyone has pulled together like they always do though . It's a great place 😊.
@Wolfcub omg that is such a lot of money to spend on your car . We have to pay a fortune for our service for the Hyundai we have but it does include RAC cover . They have us over a barrel though , if we don't take it to a Hyundai garage then the warranty is affected. I am sure there is a way around it but we are Lily livered souls who worry so it's not worth it😂😂😂

Happierwithouthim · 18/02/2020 09:11

Ok that's fair enough wolf
