Morning all. I managed a relatively chilled afternoon yesterday. Got to dparents and Dd was asleep. She didn’t wake up until 3! So by the time I got home it was almost 4...ds napped as well.

Riding today. Then a friends 5th birthday party later this afternoon.

ememem84 · 08/02/2020 08:19

I’m a saver for Christmas too. I tend to put around £50 a month aside if I can and then it’s there for gifts and Christmas treats.

I need to go and open a regular saver with HSBC actually.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 08/02/2020 08:26

Duchess, I have two Christmas presents already too! They will probably be for my youngest dd.

Happier, that is rotten luck!

Forgot other spends yesterday
£3 threading eyebrows
£14.95 hair for me, £22 for the dcs.

Mrsmadevans · 08/02/2020 08:38

Morning everyone 😀
Don't plan on spending anything today. Not venturing far because of the rugby. DH and DD will be glued🙄😁
Weather will be awful too they say, so will Batton down the hatches 😁
Have a good day everyone 😀

Taytocrisps · 08/02/2020 08:47

Morning everyone. I'm heading to the shops shortly to pick up a few bits. It's election day here so I need to vote also. I've a boiler guy calling later to check out my boiler but it's just a follow up call (he wants to check something) so I don't think there'll be any charge.

It's a little windy but we've blue skies and sunshine. You'd never know Storm Ciara was on the way. My plan is to get everything I need this morning and then stay indoors when Storm Ciara hits. I've lots of turf left so I'm going to enjoy some open fires and wine and rugby players.

I'll be back in a bit to catch up on your news.

Happierwithouthim · 08/02/2020 08:52

Wolf no hot water because ds used it all or it wasn't turned on or what?

Forgot ive dinner with a friend tonight, I always have same thing so it'll be €18 if we don't have dessert

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/02/2020 09:04

Ah rubbish happier. Hope it can be fixed cheaply.
Wolf are you having boiler issues too?
Welcome owl. I save monthly for Christmas. £50 pm.

DH needs new glasses so ££££ today.

Happierwithouthim · 08/02/2020 10:32

Phew boiler guy says might get away with replacing two parts.
I've been to town to dump €11.50 & dropped rest of car full at charity shop. Will need to go in again to bring in burner to the guy.
Engineer for new house €120

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 08/02/2020 12:13

That's good happier.
Wolf hope you can sort out your boiler problem too.
life, hope the spend isn't too bad!

Wolfcub · 08/02/2020 12:14

Happier no hot water because it's so cold the water is not warming up at all coming through the boiler. Happens sometimes in winter but has been a lot this week. Glad yours can be fixed relatively easily

Happierwithouthim · 08/02/2020 16:01

When I brought burner into service guy he said mmm might not be as easy as that but he'll see what he can do

Happierwithouthim · 08/02/2020 16:02

Voting done

Happierwithouthim · 08/02/2020 16:03

Essentials Shopping list for new house
Fridge, cooker, 4' double bed, 2 seater couch & 3 seater couch.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/02/2020 17:00

How exciting happier. If a little expensive

northender · 08/02/2020 17:34

Exciting times Happier, glad the boiler isn't as disastrous as it could've been.
Welcome owl
£60 on new bras today
£12 aldi
£2 birthday card
Running food stocks down before the holiday now. Meal plan is done so just need to make sure I have everything to be able to do that. We have booked a hotel near Gatwick for next Saturday night. A double room, a twin for the dc & car parking is £110 so not too bad. We're going to eat a main meal during the day, before the drive down & take a cool box with supper & breakfast food in which we can leave in the car, so as frugal as we can be. Food & drink is provided on the plane. Trying to be careful until we get there so that I feel okay about eating out there. The local restaurants look great and not too ££.

Got the bargainous Ultrasun through on Thursday. Thanks for the tip off Wolf
£175 cash for switching current account to HSBC came through this week.
Emptied big jar with coppers, 10s & 5s in. Just under £100.
Have got a pile of old phones/devices I'm going to ebay after the holiday & some sliding wardrobe doors to try to sell on local facebook selling page.
0% on credit card ends soon so need to find a different offer to transfer it to. This might be the last time as we have an endowment maturing in November so we'll hopefully be able to pay the remaining balance then.

Fearofawelshplanet · 08/02/2020 19:14

Spendy day...
Food shop 77.10
Hair colour remover 10.00
New hair colour 6.99 (its going back for a refund cos i like the colour it came out)
Misc bits - toffees for kids loose teeth/comb/scissors to cut my hair 7.00
Frugal win being that i had planned on a possible 2 trips to the hair dressers at 80 quid a pop to sort my hair, so ten quid stripped, re-coloured and re shaped into a fresher looking style makes me very happy Halo

SnugglySnerd · 08/02/2020 19:38

Hair cut and a coffee today so just under £30 on that then another £20 on a top up shop including yet more fruit and milk, where do the dcs put it all? Actually I'm as much to blame for the fruit as I'm trying to only have fruit snacks instead of cakes and chocolate etc. I haven't prohibited it as that will make me want it more but I've had one slice of tiffin and shared some chocolate with dh and that's been it all week. Not bad!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 08/02/2020 23:34

Hi everyone
Well didn't make it to the party as my dd2 had a seizure that was very different from her normal ones and lasted for at least four minutes, I've never been so scared.
Called an ambulance, went to homerton, had an ECG, and blood tests. They were thinking of keeping her in, but her ECG was fine and the first bit of the blood test came back normal, we could go home.
I will get a call tomorrow, hopefully, to see if anything is abnormal.
The dr will let her nurse and consultant know. As we were at homerton, I'm guessing that will make communication faster.
Am exhausted, but just really bloody glad she is ok.

ememem84 · 09/02/2020 07:53

Oh curvy poor Dd. And how scary for you!! Fingers crossed everything is ok.

We went to a friends 5th birthday party yesterday. A whole class party. I’ve never seen such chaos. Ds loved it though. I mean what’s not to love - bouncy castles pink wafer biscuits and candy floss machine (amongst other foods)

I had blue candy floss. On a stick. I forgot how much I love it. And how sweet it is. And the intoxicating smell of it.

Today we’ve got another party. Birthday girl from yesterday’s grandmas 65th. Just a late lunch in the pub down the road. But should be nice.

This morning I need to finalise a statement to our planning department about appealing the proposed development behind our house. Ans then get this printed off tomorrow at work and submit it at lunchtime.

northender · 09/02/2020 08:01

Oh Curvy that sounds scary. Hope she's okay today.
Wet & windy here today. Need to take ds to cricket training & I may go to the gym, but otherwise will be a home day.

LaneBoy · 09/02/2020 08:19

What an awful experience curvy those four minutes must have felt like forever. Hope you can have an easy couple of days now?

DD1 now throwing up 🤦‍♀️ Was just thinking the rest of us had got away with it (DD2 started last Saturday, DS on Wednesday). Will be her first day(s) off school since she started in December, she’s miserable about it!

NSD yesterday, likely to be today as well. “Leave the house every day” not going so well this month Hmm but the weather is terrible of course (amber alert here) so I don’t feel like I’m missing out.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 09/02/2020 08:57

Thank you all so much.
It was very scary, I'm glad I recorded it as that really helped the drs to give her the care she needed.

She was more disappointed that we couldn't go to the party, but I took that as a very good sign!
She is still sleeping. We are meant to be popping to my friends house as it is her dds Birthday and my dd wants to give her her card.
It is very windy outside but not too wet.

Wolfcub · 09/02/2020 08:58

Curvy that sounds very frightening. Hope your dd and Lane's dd both improve over the course of the day

Weather very bad here. Branches down. Roads flooded. The water is up at the level of the garden but not breached the garden yet. Contemplating moving my car as it's right in the stream/field run off.

I have a packet of info from the solicitor I need to read and respond to but somehow need to get rid of ds/ occupy him so I can do it. Need to pack for work (if trains are running tomorrow).

Spendy yesterday- £60 hairdresser £3 Greggs for ds £3.99 mcds, £10 pub, £3 Sainsbury's £28 farm shop

OP posts:
CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 09/02/2020 09:15

Lane hope your dd1 gets better soon.

Thanks Wolf. The weather sounds scary where you are, definitely move you car if you can. Can ds play a video game for a bit, so you can do the solicitor stuff?

SnugglySnerd · 09/02/2020 11:08

How scary Curvy hope you are ok.

Awful winds here. Kept us awake in the night and our garden fence is smashed in parts.
