em I definitely saved on using reusables with dc2 but I failed to resell afterwards so didn't save as big as I'd hoped there, I gave them away to a friend for a finish. They were much better on ds's bum and I enjoyed using them.

Love I feel like we’ve been trying to keep the talk really frugal in the hope our regulars will return

£37 Sainsbury’s including milk for work, small ham joint, yellow sticker chicken and yogurt hopefully that’ll get us through to pay day. Hard trying to explain to financially dense ds that you can have a 36p yogurt but not a 50p one because 36p is less and we’re on a budget

The first lot of my cheap windscreen wipers arrived. Will fit at the weekend when I will also get a free car wash courtesy of df

Expenses system down at work so as well as having swiped my salad twice I can’t claim my other expenses until it’s fixes

Sneaky that’s very annoying are you entitled to any top up benefits

Em we tried reusables with ds. They are brilliantly well made. Unfortunately I just couldn’t cope with the extra work in the end on top of the other things I was dealing with at the time. The throw away paper liners are great for dealing with poos as you can remove most of the poo and flush

SnugglySnerd · 23/01/2019 19:52

£66.42 today on filling my car up. I was peeved until I realised it's at least 6 weeks since I last filled up. Maybe even a couple of months. I just haven't been anywhere lately except work which is a slightly depressing thought. We've been out but to local places we can walk to.

Bornlazy · 23/01/2019 20:28

Well yesterday wasn't a nsd after all as I bought chippy chips and two battered sausages for me to go with our dinner £8.50. Lsd today just £3.65 on bread and milk. Payday tomorrow yay!!

Still no sign of the Boots sale going to 70% off think I might give it a miss this year.

Sneaky hope you get something sorted soon.

WreckTangled · 23/01/2019 20:36

Wow snuggly dh and I go through £40/week each!

Unescorted · 23/01/2019 20:52

sneaky It might be worth talking to the EA and DWP because DWP have been known to use a 53 week year ( annual rent / 53) where as most commercial agents use 48 or 52 week year. If this is the case the tenancy could be adjusted to reflect 53 weeks. I am not sure where this extra week appears either. The other cause might be that your rent is over the Local Housing Allowance or you are hitting the benefit cap for your total benefit.

Snuggly hope you and your Dh had a better day today.

We have had snow - it is now melting. I was in Cumbria today and the snow on the hills was beautiful. I wish I had taken my boots.

Today was not a NSD....coffee and a bit more coffee. Why is it when I am on the train I need coffee?

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/01/2019 20:59

Because trains are dull..... And a nightmare? You need something in your hand to stop you punching idiots.,........... Just me then.

That's rubbish sneaky. Hope your support worker comes up with something to sort it out with you.

Nsd today as at home with DS. Didn't get my parcel sent back either.

Wolfcub · 23/01/2019 21:02

Not just you Life or Unescorted. Trains and other passengers are a major test of patience

Unescorted · 23/01/2019 21:10

Ha! yes if I hadn't had a cup of coffee there was one passenger who wouldn't have made it to his stop. If you are going to tap your ring on the hard plastic of your suitcase in time of the tinny beat we can all hear from your overloud music, please for the love of God do it in time.

northender · 23/01/2019 21:37

Evening all. Good day here. The only spending was £10 on a top up shop.
Ds has been off college today as he's had a real dip in terms of his fatigue. I feel a bit down about it but just getting on. These episodes are less frequent than they were which is positive.
I keep forgetting to say well done to Love on passing your assignment! No results here yet.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/01/2019 21:52

Not sure I can be much more frugal than I am being, have not spent on anything other than food or petrol (other than dds bday presents which I used savings for) for most of this month!!

I am really sad that some posters that have been here longer than me have vanished Sad I keep hoping they will come back, its still too quiet on here and I feel like you guys are friends, even though its just t'internet we are still buddies right?!

NSD today, dd had a rough day and managed to knock her head coming out of school on a metal gate, she has a nasty bruise and has been really tearful all evening poor thing. Luckily it was a day my mum picked her up so could give her a cuddle but any other day she would have had to walk home and be by herself which makes me feel bad. Being a working mum really doesn't get any easier as they get older (sorry em and snuggly !!)

Sneaky thats rubbish no one told you.

Snuggly did you make up with dh?

Wolfcub · 23/01/2019 21:56

Definitely friends Girlie. I don’t know what I’d have done without you all over the last year both from a frugal point and a life point

Unescorted · 23/01/2019 22:25

Absolutely friends! I would have been a quivering wreck without you guys and your support through what has been a difficult few years.

ememem84 · 23/01/2019 22:32

Absolutely girlie you guys helped me enormously through my pregnancy and leave last time. Xx

£14 on amazon via Quidco (why did I not know I could do this before...?!) on flannels.

Drs advice is to wash everything ds has touched especially towels and face cloths. So I’ve ordered a ton more. Been meaning to do this for a while as can never find one when I need one. But now have been given the push I needed.

This weekend will be a “sort the spare room out” weekend. I so desperately want to make this nice. I’m thinking of popping the bedframe in the loft for later. Then getting a day bed from amazon/fb or somewhere so we’ve still got a bed in there once dc2 comes along. It was a lifeline for dh last time having another room to sleep in if he needed to be up for work etc. And for me to get away from it (being the night wakings) for a bit. On either Fridays or Saturdays I used to sleep in spare room and get a decent sleep while ds was still in our room. Bliss.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/01/2019 06:17

YY to buddies girlie.

Nsd planned today, will bring my parcel home and post Saturday as got Pilates at lunch time.
£3 scouts later but that's a regular spend.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/01/2019 06:19

£45 last night on kubix tickets so wasn't a nsd. Festival in Sunderland. Now just need childcare.

Wolfcub · 24/01/2019 06:21

Morning all

Hoping for a nsd. First of the new camhs sessions this evening. It’s been a bumpy week so we could be in for a rough night.

Have a lovely Thursday everyone.

SnugglySnerd · 24/01/2019 06:37

All good with dh thanks!

Yes definitely friends, Girlie. Hope DD is ok.

Sorry really quick post. Hope everyone else is ok.

Justanothermile · 24/01/2019 07:21

Good luck for the session wolf.

I too am sad the thread got to this, I tried to call it out years ago but it perhaps wasn't the time. I sincerely hope that our older regulars will see the continued friendly atmosphere and come back. I feel we've lost too much.

Spending yesterday was large as we've paid the balance for some wood flooring being laid today.

I'll post the rest when I've got a cuppa, dogs walked and I've updated the budget!

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/01/2019 07:51

Good luck wolf. X

Lovemaltesers · 24/01/2019 07:51

Thanks north. When will you get your results back?

Freezing here. Heating has gone back on. I need to do a lot of work on my next assignment today at home so must stay off MN!

Lovemaltesers · 24/01/2019 07:52

Ocado came already but apart from that should be a NSD

wreck we used to spend a fortune commuting by car, 30 miles a day.

ememem84 · 24/01/2019 11:24

We spend £40 a month on petrol. Plus £170 a month for our rented parking space. Which is extortionate. But it’s secure. Undercover. And directly below nursery. So super convenient. A season ticket for parking here is around £140 a month (but doesn’t guarantee a space) so the additional £30 is for Pièce of mind.

Also our gov are changing a lot of public car parks in town to 3 hours only. Which considering the majority of people living here work in town is stupid. So we secure 24/7 parking.

It’s a lot. But money well spent.

Second 12 week scan today. Finally managed to get a measurement for downs screening. Yay. Dh brought me a salmon cream cheese avo bagel and a decaf flat white after. Le yummo.

Thatsnotmybaby · 24/01/2019 11:36

Yesterday's spend:
£4 lunch

Thanks for that recommendation @happier.
And I must look into those notifications @nocuts; I have literally hundreds of books on my Amazon wishlist so I would love notifications for when they reduce in price.
