Thanks all. I’m not actually as panicky as I sound really, apart from anything else we have the relative security of now being in social housing, when last time of course we were in private rented. So it’s not as scary in terms of the big stuff.
Again we are focusing on the positives as much as possible and also trying not to jump to any conclusions yet, there’s no point until he sees the surgeon.
(As an aside, why am I quite good at remaining sensibly calm with life altering shit like this, and yet going to a familiar place turned me into a gibbering wreck the other day? 🤔😂 Sorry, I over-emoji too! 😂)
But yes, off work for the foreseeable, hence the many positives. He wants to look for something else anyway but we don’t know what really particularly as he can’t actually sit down much so a desk job isn’t the obvious answer it seems. But the doctor said absolutely no to his main job due to the tasks involved - there is no “light duties” possibility.
He can still do his charity work (it’s like a spin off from the main job but is done by email and networking etc) which he loves and is doing really well in, but sports club is obviously a non starter just yet. I’m going to prioritise getting my own tutoring started again for now, I’ve had some people ask me recently and now I don’t need to worry about childcare.
He is markedly less stressed despite the epic pain from his back/hips and his tooth. So the positives are fairly easy to spot. :)
