autumn cork bags are a thing here. Lots of shops selling them.

Jam your dh has pulled a blinder.

Goals for this year 1)be more organised. I say this every year since I stopped smoking over a decade ago.
2) do more exercise... I am riding my bike to the station so there is some chance this might happen.
3) learn an escape clause language. French for choice. I am thinking that it my personal backstop. We are in a better situation now the EU has said uk dependents of EU citizens can reduce in the EU if there is no deal.
4) draw a picture a day.
5) enjoy things for what they are.

Financial aims... Save money to get ds & dh to the states and DD to London for her summer course.

AutumnLeaves12 · 26/12/2018 11:22

That's good to know unescorted. I am now officially fashionable.

Dutch is meant to be easy to learn, spoken in Belgium too Unescorted.

Blueskies Welcome. I hate waste too. Dh has just binned 3 mini pork pies and I’m trying to be good about it. When he chose them I said “let’s pick the pork pies I’ll be putting in the bin”.

Jam Excellent presents.

Today will be a no spend day.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 26/12/2018 11:39

Morning all.
Thank you all again for your kind words Flowers

Really lovely to hear you all had good days yesterday.
We have a rule that we don't use our phones on Christmas day.
I got some lovely presents, my mum got me a soup maker, which I can't wait to use.
My eldest got me a signed copy of Natives and another book called Ice cream for Breakfast, which I'm half way through.
DS2 and DD2 brought me a lovely necklace and earrings set and DS1 and his girlfriend got me a new hat and some lovely smelling perfume.
Dp got me my fave perfume, so I feel truly lucky.
The DCs were all very happy with everything and it was mostly a good day.

My goals for 2019
Spend more time being silly with the DCs
Read more
Be more orginised
If I want something done, do it myself or just go for it
Get a new tattoo in memory of my best friend (who passed away a number of years ago)
Sort out a proper savings account and a pension
Call people out on their unacceptable behaviour ( whoever that may be)
Give less fucks to what people think of me

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 26/12/2018 11:41

Hi and welcome blueskies

CurlsandCurves · 26/12/2018 11:47

Morning,

Done a small sales shop on Amazon, just one thing. Electric toothbrush down from £229 to £55.

I’m after a knife block set but really can’t justify £300 for the Global ones that are in the sale. Maybe save up put the money to one side and buy them next year.

SnugglySnerd · 26/12/2018 12:21

My 2019 goal is to consider the environment before buying anything new. I suspect that sometimes that will mean spending a bit more for more sustainable/better made items. Sometimes though it will mean buying second hand or not at all which will save money.

Wolfcub · 26/12/2018 12:37

Happy Boxing Day lovelies. I’ve only got as far as Sea’s early Christmas Day post but will catch up later x

northender · 26/12/2018 12:54

Will catch up properly later.
Had a good Christmas Day.
Studied for a couple of hours this morning.
Football this afternoon, Christmas bubble & squeak for tea.
Back to work tomorrow.

LonelyOversharer · 26/12/2018 13:05

I have done noooothinggg so far today! Except drink coffee and eat crisps. Today is my holiday! I am going to dig my crochet out now (was buried under boxes of christmas), and probably just look at it!

Will go to ikea this week at some point, need new draws for ds before just about anything else. Have measured and picked ones to fit his alcove almost exactly. Is it awful that he is 6.5 and doesn't yet have clothes storage?

Turkey sarnies are calling, but cba getting them made!

lillylollylandy · 26/12/2018 13:41

I love ikea lonely! I don't go as much as I'd like to as the Croydon store is an absolute pain to get to, BUT they're opening a Greenwich store about 15 mins away from us in Q1 2019. I am beyond excited. DH less so...

Love reading everyone's 2019 goals. I like the ones about more meaningful time with partners. I must add that to my list.

AutumnLeaves12 · 26/12/2018 13:55

I keep wondering how Blueteapot is doing, and then thinking that she is still here but namechanged. Is that right? I've lost track a bit of who is how through all the name changes.

Lazy ish day today. Got up opened the rest of ds’ presents.

Was happily pottering round the house putting things away, cleaning, laundry, making soup etc then fil came over. Sigh. They stayed for an hour and half. Dh kept glaring at me for carrying on with the jobs I was doing. But I didn’t want tea, didn’t want my house to be criticised again, yesterday was enough and needed to make a start on laundry mountain.

We’re now at dparents. Dm did a Boxing Day buffet. Enough food for about 20 people. I had a jacket potato. Oooodles of smoked salmon some spicy chicken pieces and cucumber. No other salads. Just cucumber. I love cucumber.

We’ve dug tickle me Elmo from the attic. Ds thinks he’s hilarious. And also scary. He laughs at him when he’s sat on my lap but won’t go near him. Haha

Dsis bought me a handbag. A blue leather backpack. So lovely. I’ve never been sure about backpacks. But useful. Leaves my hands free.

Ds is now napping. I’m contemplating another piece of cake and a cup of tea and a nap. Dsis is napping. Ddad is napping. Dh is threatening a nap.

ememem84 · 26/12/2018 15:40

I liked unescorteds give zero fucks (or similar) goal. That’s on my list too.

Other goals are drink more water, and make time for self care. Every day.

Unescorted · 26/12/2018 16:06

em that is curvy's resolution. But I like it so much that I am going to use it too.

Curly I don't rate the Global knives. The balance is wrong for me and they blunt quickly. I spent ages in a catering suppliers and finally found a Tsuki cooks knife. It is lovely. Balanced, Damascus steel. My family are buying me them one at a time because they are not cheap but I rather have one good knife than several ok ones.

SnugglySnerd · 26/12/2018 16:24

The backpack will come into its own when you have your hands full with 2 small dcs Em.
Had a lovely day today. Just played with the kids and all their new toys. We went and fed the ducks. Now I'm making them turkey risotto for their tea and we are having reheated Christmas dinner after they've gone to bed.

ememem84 · 26/12/2018 16:29

Ds and I also threw bread for the birds in our garden this morning. He was excited. We threw all the bread down then sat quietly (as quietly as ds can) indoors and watched them come down for bread. He loved it. Kept pointing and smiling and saying “there”

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/12/2018 17:08

Will ponder proper goals for 2019.
I'm going to IKEA at some point lonely but will probably be 5 or 12 January.
Nice day at DM for Boxing Day
More presents for DC.

I'm Dee cluttering this year properly so we have left to do when we move the year after. Less in too and more thought about.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 26/12/2018 17:13

Ooh I have many backpacks and I love them all. They each have there uses, but some are more secure than others, so sometimes go out with my phone and (small) purse in my jeans, but then I wear jeans a lot.

You are all welcome to give less fucks also!

I'm going to be 40 in January and if my time isn't now, then when?

DD2 is making some fresh stuffing, then we are going to make bubble and squeak and reheat some of the leftovers for dinner

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 26/12/2018 17:25

Right slowly catching up!

Sounds like you've all had a lovely Christmas and had some lovely gifts.

cag it was the first Christmas that dd hasn't believed as well but she has sort of fake believed and was still really excited by the stocking and wanted to put out mince pies etc as well!!

seacow do you need to do adult stockings? ! Not something we have ever done, ours stopped in our late teens I think. The ring sounds beautiful.

My dd loved her gifts, favourites are the jellycat soft toy elephant and the gemstone dig kits she is definitely in no hurry to grow up bless her 😅 my favourite gifts were a beautiful fob watch with my name engraved and a book called The Language of Kindness.

Work wasn't too bad today but tomorrow looks very busy 😩

AutumnLeaves12 · 26/12/2018 17:38

My visiting relatives have said that the stockpiling 6 weeks of food for hard brexit is a real thing, so dh and I are now working out what we eat in six weeks so we can do it.

It's marginally easier it turns out, for the food intolerant people, because I've done so many food diaries that I know exactly what we eat every day. So I have it all carefully enumerated on paper.

We have also planned our farm. Yay!

OP posts:
northender · 26/12/2018 18:27

I'm sure tomorrow will be busy at work for me too Girlie. I haven't heard how today & yesterday have been, but tomorrow already was looking busy when I left on Monday.
Will have a think about some goals for 2019. Dh and I are planning to set some 6 & 12 month goals, but also set monthly goals and sit down at the end of each month & review them/set new ones so that it doesn't just get forgotten.

SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh · 26/12/2018 18:30

Just got a great bargain at Morrisons Xmas Grin

Festive frugaleering - Merry Christmas, and a happy 2019 to you all.
AutumnLeaves12 · 26/12/2018 18:33

Nice work sneaky!

I just ordered seeds online and am quite looking forward to farming. I bought:

carrots
parsnips
potatoes
peas
kale
cabbage
onion sets
lettuce
growmore

We need to set up the beds next. Yay!

Curvy 100% no fucks. Too old for all that shit.

My DC still get stockings, more for me than them tbh. Girlie - help btw!! I've got an Y6 goddaughter that I've completely lost track of in terms of what they like at this age. Any suggestions - I'm scared of going too old or too young. I've completely forgotten what Dd likes then.

Fully agree snuggly - more sustainable products that actually are needed and have use.

Cheers fluffy/unescorted - he's seriously planned it all out. He's being super at present, doing over and above tbh. #notcomplaining

Been out at a friends do all afternoon. I drove. But having a glass of red now and eating leftovers.

NSD.
