Unescorted get thee to the wardrobe. Let’s have a list of 9 things you’re getting rid of by 6.30pm Brew

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/01/2019 17:40

Well done on the clear out lonely I would not be impressed by the broken engine either!

wreck did you have the sedative for it? I'm dreading it 😟

wolf sorry to hear your ds is playing up, sending you a virtual hug.

I've spent all afternoon making my mum's bday cake, it had to be dairy free for my sil to be able to have some and took ages to bake! Hoping it will taste okay....

Cagliostro · 03/01/2019 17:55

Big hugs to all. Sorry some are having a rough few days.

Wreck I can only agree with what others have said. Your feelings matter. 💐

Spends today included £6.35 on swimming, I went child free with a friend. I swam 250m in total, I know that is sod all really but I am really proud of myself as I am seriously unfit!!! I’ve decided to track my distance, I should be able to go more often now.

Basically because DH has been signed off for a bit. He has finally had enough of the pain he’s in. He is a stubborn git who hasn’t taken any time off since he had an actual prolapsed disc. This time he has “disc issues” and bone thinning :( rheumatologist cancelled his app next month so fuck knows when we will get answers. He’s not even able to run at the moment and jam will know what a massive deal that is. He had a fit note saying he needed to avoid till work as that aggravated it more, but they couldn’t actually meet that request and although he reduced his time on it it wasn’t enough to significantly help the pain. So there it is. Trying not to freak out due to finances, very grateful we are in social housing now. Hopefully it won’t be long term but it’s been months TBH, we will just see what the specialist says when he eventually sees them.

Back to more positive things, can anyone recommend a nose clip for swimming? I’ve never tried one but I struggle to swim efficiently due to absolutely hating having water up my nose. So I think it’d be worth buying one so I could improve my rubbish technique if I’m going swimming more.

WreckTangled · 03/01/2019 18:09

Girlie no I didn't. I went on my own and was pleased afterwards that I didn't have it. The numbing stuff they put in your mouth is gross, it tastes like burnt bananas. When they initially put the scope down your throat they tell you to keep swallowing and you will gag but a lovely nurse will stroke your hair and wipe your tears (not from crying just from eyes watering) and dribble. When the scope is in you can see the screen which is pretty cool, when it touches the sides of your stomach it'll feel like it does when you feel sick, except you know you only feel sick because the scope is there. It's over pretty quickly and once it's out you'll feel fine! Apart from a slightly numb throat but it's not as bad as a numbing injection from the dentist. I got through it by breathing and counting. I would describe it as unpleasant but not awful. The part that pissed me off the most was when (after finding nothing on the endoscopy) the nurse asked me if it was stress making me feel so sick 😡 (she had literally just met me!)

Back to work today. Had major second thoughts about my commute after Luther this week...

Lilly Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/01/2019 18:26

Don't sit on the top deck Lilly.

Well done you cag. Better than no swimming. Sorry to hear about dh. Can you ring the consultant secretary and see about an appointment not he is off. They are usually pretty good the secretaries.

£25 this month's gym pass.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/01/2019 18:26

I couldn't watch any more Luther, too scary for me! !

Thank you wreck I'm not sure I want the sedative as hate that feeling of being woozy. Will think on it.

cag sorry to hear your dh is struggling, well done on the swimming though!! I really need to go more often, always feel better for it.

Wolfcub · 03/01/2019 18:32

Girlie I watched episode 2 while ironing this aft and it wasn’t as bad

LonelyOversharer · 03/01/2019 18:57

fluffy including the working one in his car...4. Words are starting to fail me.

£35 fuel, £52 Asda, cleaning stuff, pepsi, coke, loo roll...rock and roll stuff. But emptied literally a car full at the tip.

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/01/2019 19:05

Broken engines are the new bikes aren't they lonely?

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/01/2019 19:15

Wouldn’t it be awful if the tatters took them by accident Lonely?.

Unescorted · 03/01/2019 19:24

cag that is not good about his back. 2nd the calling the secretary - we managed to get a cancellation for DD and her wonky teeth that way. Well done on the swim. The not getting water up your nose is all about breathing - always breathe of through your nose and in through the mouth. Out when your face is in the water and in when it isn't. You can get nose clips from the swimming pool normally, but they will prevent you getting your breathing right. It has been a long time since I used my swimming teaching qualifications.....

Wolf 2 pairs of jeans, 3 jumpers, 8 cardigans, 2 scarves, some shirts and 3 dresses. 2 pairs of shoes, most of the cleaning cupboard. It has been cathartic. Books and a start on the kitchen tomorrow. Imam so fed up living in a heap. My hope is that it will built everyone else into ditching the junk.

LonelyOversharer · 03/01/2019 19:51

Spot on life ! fluff it would be a tradedgy!

Wolfcub · 03/01/2019 19:51

Well done Unescorted

Lonely is dh a hoarder by nature? Is he likely to make money off the engines?

AutumnLeaves12 · 03/01/2019 19:54

That's very useful to know about the breathing in swimming Unescorted. I can't do the breathing either but I do the backstroke and that seems to work okay.

Ds starts school swimming lessons in a couple of weeks again.

Yeah, don't forget and do it the other way though #sinuswash

AutumnLeaves12 · 03/01/2019 20:16

Big life events have been happening here today, but I can't tell you because I might out myself. It's frustrating, that. Good changes though.

You deserve it autumn this year has been a bit of a trial for you.

Unescorted · 03/01/2019 20:29

,life 😀

Unescorted · 03/01/2019 20:30

Although reverse breathing might work for em's cold.

SneakyGremlins · 03/01/2019 20:32

I can doggy paddle

AutumnLeaves12 · 03/01/2019 20:39

Thanks unescorted. Yes I hope things will be better this year.

I looked back at my spreadsheet for frugaleering and the first five months of this year are missing because I just didn't have time to do the monthly score sheet, even though I kept the daily data. Hoping this year will be better now.

Dd has to master butterfly before she moves up to the next stage in swimming. I'm not sure she will ever get it! I can't do butterfly but am ok at everything else
