My dh has an infected cut in his leg and was just sorting it out with plasters and things, and then stood up and brained himself on a very sharp shelf corner. Now he has a big cut in his head too. I'm not sure that that was really what he wanted today.

Bornlazy · 25/10/2018 18:39

Gosh Autumn that cottage sounds like a deathtrap place that needs a few tweaks Wink Still all the best holidays have dramas Grin Hope tomorrow is incident free.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/10/2018 18:50

£15 off buy a gift code. You could use it to buy presents, or to buy yourself a meal out for two with Prosecco.

AutumnLeaves12 · 25/10/2018 18:54

Tweaks definitely born. Apparently they bought the one-piece kitchen as an ex-display and the watertight bits hadn't been sealed with mastic as they were just for display. They are properly sealed now.

The man's wife says she did point out that the sharp shelf was not safe, and has now been proved right. I think we'd better tread carefully until we leave tomorrow. Grin

ememem84 · 25/10/2018 19:08

Exhausted now.

Took the curtains I bought yesterday for ds’ room back to dunelm (wrong size and actually wrong curtains - bought dinosaurs not wild animals). Changed for wild animals and the correct size and got £10 back on my card. Yay!

WereWolfcub · 25/10/2018 19:15

Em you are poorly please do take it easy

I’m off now for a week and at lunch the horrendous sore throat which seems to have plagued me for months came back with a vengence. I have had lots of vit c this evening!

SnugglySnerd · 25/10/2018 19:39

Sorry to hear about poorly frugaleers. Hope you all get well soon.

ememem84 · 25/10/2018 19:57

wolf don’t worry. I had mum and dad help me. A LOT! I did a lot of stopping resting and delegating.

Tomorrow I’m going to ruthlessly declutter the wardrobe. And will start packing things up here slowly. Have to go to the bank too to sort out our mortgage insurances etc.

Have pointed out to dh that in the first half hour I did more than he did yesterday.

Have also made a list of things we still need to buy.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/10/2018 20:11

£44 Sainsbury's, £1 pound land, £30 boyes.

Hotchocolate86 · 25/10/2018 20:20

That’s a lovely garden em. A really nice size.
The cottage you are staying in certainly sounds interesting autumn. I hope you don’t have any more mishaps.
I spent £6 in Sainsbury’s today. Pay day tomorrow.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 25/10/2018 21:36

Evening all!

Happy birthday littlest cag 🎀🎁🎂🎈🎉🎊

Exciting re the new house em I bet you can't wait to get in and get settled.

Ouch to your dh sunny does he need to see a nurse if the leg is infected?

Busy day here, glad to have finished work for a few days!!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 25/10/2018 22:02

Not caught up at all today, too tired 💤 💤 now

Happy Birthday Rowan 💕 Cake

ChristmasSeacow · 26/10/2018 01:39

I entirely missed Cagletini’s Birthday! Belated happy birthday xxx First birthdays are rather special I think.

Not managing to post - frantically busy with work deadline (next Friday - won’t be much sleep between now and then) and DD’s vomiting bug (yesterday morning before work was very ‘exciting’ - and I felt awful about going in when she was sick. Especially as she’s still upset with me for leaving her at nursery 😢)

So that’s me. Spending money in coffee shops just to hide from my children when they are at home and I need to work. But on the frugal side, I’m only drinking tea because of my diet. I’d be haemorrhaging money on cake and posh toasties otherwise Wink

AutumnLeaves12 · 26/10/2018 06:12

I think it's okay Girlie. He's been putting a soap and sugar poultice on it, which is a tried and trusted traditional method where I come from, and it was nearly gone last week but then came back. It's just a midge bite from a midge that should have had more baths.

I think having an injury at the head end as well was a step too far though. I'm going to be at that with some heavy duty disinfectant when we get home. #charming #TMI #Sorry.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 26/10/2018 07:39

I ended up with cellulitis once from a bite (not sure if it was midge or spider 😮) so if it's still looking sore he may need some antibiotics. Never heard of a soap and sugar poultice, most bacteria love a sweet environment so not sure it's the best idea.....

Day off today, pay day! Need to take another dress back that was no good, might have a look in monsoon to see what they've got dress wise.

I've booked myself a massage for later, it was on a special offer for £25.

ChristmasSeacow · 26/10/2018 07:47

Just watch out for cellulitis Autumn - if the skin around the bite starts to get red and inflamed, and the red area starts to spread then defo go to hospital. And/or if DS gets a temperature. I was hospitalised with sepsis from cellulitis (which started with an insect bite) and it can be quite dangerous if it gets a hold.

Morning everyone! Dd is st nursery and DH is off work and taking DS out for at least the whole morning, so I’m looking forward to working in peace at home and not being banished to a cafe Smile

ChristmasSeacow · 26/10/2018 07:49

Ha, cross posted with Girlie (took me ages to write not-very-much because dd tipped her cereal over herself Hmm)

AutumnLeaves12 · 26/10/2018 08:02

Thanks Girlie and Christmas I didn't know it could turn into cellulitis and sepsis. I'll ask if he can be persuaded to see a nurse. He's looking a bit dog-eared tbh.

We're off home today. The music course went well and I'm properly chuffed that we made it to that after all the previous years of missing everything interesting because of viruses. This was a definite success this week. Ds has a photo and a certificate to take to school too.

Must now try and get home in one piece.

LonelyOversharer · 26/10/2018 08:23

Morning! Epic £300 spends yesterday... dd1 and I nipped off to ikea unsupervised we had great fun! So we bought the £40 dining room table for the girls to use as a desk, two single boxes like kallax as bedside tables, a new step stool for the kitchen and so many cute storage boxes. £11 quick macdonalds tea (would have been cheaper to buy as meals, but neither of us wanted/likes the chips), then b&q (the huge one with an upstairs we're such country bumpkins) and got a 3 cube kallax type thing, 3 shelves, more wood filler...loads of other little bits.

Dd and I took a long time moving all the stuff from the car to the room. It's going to come together quickly now. So, I put 2 coats on the ceiling, and 2 of the darker blue on dd2's wall. Filled a lot of the gaps in the floorboards (so many beads and pencils and bits of lego hoicked out first). Have to drop dp at the van hire place, ds at grandmas, then lots to do before taking dd1 for her aligners at 2. Phew, I'm knackered just thinking about it all.

On balance, simply going to work is so much easier!!

WereWolfcub · 26/10/2018 09:33

Lonely it sounds like you are motoring through and amazing amount

Girlie enjoy your massage I could do with one myself

Have definitely overspent this month with ds’s birthday and buying some bits ahead for Christmas. Payday not until Wednesday so will have to be super frugal. Luckily ds is away for a couple of days so no half term entertainment costs until after pay day.

Nails and pub today so probably £30 and I owe ds £10.

Dinner will be chicken something in the instant pot, chicken currently defrosting as I am determined to reduce freezer stocks so I can start to put some made meals and Christmas stuff (hm sausage rolls etc) in there

Happy frugal Friday folk

Three more bags for charity shop. Yay. And have moved all of my clothes and shoes to new house. I need a new clothes rail as mine collapsed. It’s fixable (as I didn’t bother tighten the screws) but we are going to need a second. I underestimated how much I had....

Bank appointment at 1.

Then have to pick up stair gates etc. And then unpack clothes.

Thatsnotmybookworm · 26/10/2018 12:07

Sounds like you are being super organised @ememem84. It must be great to have those few days off work to get things done. When we moved into our house, I didn't really take any time off work as I was saving my Annual Leave and I regretted it afterwards.

Spends today:
£1 work canteen
£77 on jumper for DH for Christmas in Ted Baker 25% off; I remembered to to through TopCashback too so should get 6% back from there.

ememem84 · 26/10/2018 12:15

thats yep. I did originally have weds Thursday and today as holiday but got signed off with a throat infection virus. Felt better yesterday so more capable of doing stuff so unpacked the house. Today is a holiday so can realistically get more done.

I should (hopefully) get Wednesday and Thursday added back to my holiday allowance. But if not it’s not a big deal.

WereWolfcub · 26/10/2018 12:24

Bathroom, kitchen and living room cleaned. One lot of laundry hung up and one lot ironed. About to hang doormat out to dry when it’s finished washing. Hamster cleaned out. Don’t know why I’m bothering as dog staying tomorrow so house will get filthy. Text into work for something I forgot to do. Two charity bags in back of car and bottles ready for bottle bank. Have also checked my cleaning and toiletry stash. I do not need to buy anymore shower gel until after Christmas!
Also finished reading my book so need to look for a new one.
Have spied a couple of bits on top of ds’s wardrobe that could go to charity but can’t get to them. Will tackle that next week.

Em it sounds like you are going great guns. When can you sleep in the new house for the first time?

We're home now and dh has an appointment with the nurse at our doctor's surgery. (Thanks Girlie and Christmas, it turns out he listens to you more than to me.)
