Lovely to see you Unescorted

Lonely that sounds painful, you should definitely be waited on hand and foot by a very repentant dh

After overspending again this month I’ve been back and replanted and reallocated money to different pots and renamed the pots ready for next month. Hopefully this will allow me to keep better control and oversight next month. I also expect to have extra pay this month with back pay from the annual pay rise (which is never implemented on schedule) and some acting up money from August which has still not been paid.

Oops pressed post too soon. The extra will be going straight into savings.

Expensive bits for November, treating dm to afternoon tea, mulled wine and dinner at the Christmas market with friends and a quick dinner after work with friends. Other than that it’ll be Chris present buying.

Happy moving day Em

Morning all.
We got gome yesterday from my Mums and train travel, £9.20, was my only spend.
However the day before was a bit spendy, pub lunch for 3, £13.78, and more clothes for dd2 £34.98, but that should keep her going for a while.

I am waiting for a package that should have came yesterday and apparently they tried to deliver yesterday, claiming no access, someone was in all day! It should be delivered by 5 today, I really hope so.

Will be going out a bit later as I need a new smart coat as my other two are now too big and taking dd2 to do some Harry potter activities.

Glad to hear your ds is doing a bit better Wreck.
em happy moving day!

I've come home from holiday to the customary Bus Lane Enforcement Fine letter. £30.

There are a list of mitigating circumstances that would lead to the fine being dropped but none of them says "I was lost."

QuiteFabULousDahling · 27/10/2018 11:24

Morning !
Unescorted same here -super busy week .
Payday yesterday ,so paid myself first😉and into various pots for Christmas ,money for holiday etc.
Im afraid to confess that Ive been hanging around on MSE frugal threads as well Blush
Mainly for nice long threads I can read in bed Grin
However its very good to have a frugal bum kick sometimes and as a result Ive gone through my freezers and made a list of everything in there (its long) with the number beside to cross off .
Feck its like a shop in there Blushso wont need to buy any main meal stuff for umm 3 months or so Confused
Plan is to use all of it then clean out freezer-money saved is going into an "emergency pot"
Should be able to manage on £20 fruit /lunch stuff so anticipate £30 a week spare to go into pot.
Lidl/Aldi later for dry stuff and might have a look at the Lidl thermals .
Chilli on slow cooker and am going to stew some windfall apples with cinnamon and raisins for porridge topping.
Currently having fruit compote -Aldi berries stewed with a tsp sugar .
Super cheap .
em you sound much more like yourself ,hope catface is ok .
Sounds sensible to keep her settled at your dp while the moving in continues.
And for the knitters...
The Wool WareHouse Alpaca Party is on until 31st Dec .
30% off .

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/10/2018 11:42

Nsd.

MSE is brilliant. I love it.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 27/10/2018 11:56

Did anyone see the Martin Lewis programme about young peoples finances /student loans?
Really good !
Its an ESD for me ,hoping next week will be a NSW until next friday !
Just popping out to do several £10 Sainsburys petrol top ups -wish me luck!

WereWolfcub · 27/10/2018 11:57

Hmm the plan for a frugal few days of half term whilst ds is away will now not happen as he’s not going, I seriously cannot catch a break. Will have to have a good root through the cupboards and see what there is for the next few days. Today sorted so that’s no problem and I’m sure there are meals in the freezer.

OP posts:
QuiteFabULousDahling · 27/10/2018 11:58

Oh no
Where was he going Wolf?

WereWolfcub · 27/10/2018 12:05

He was going to stay with relatives Quite. For a very good reason they now can’t have him but he is going to be upset (and will blame me) and I needed the space for my own head to be honest. Hey ho need to hoik my big girl pants up and get on with it

wolf take a look at the Guardian's student cooking special. They had some really tasty from the dusty depths recipes listed. I can vouch for the chickpea soup and the garlic & chilli spaghetti. Also firm family favourite is the anchovy, garlic, pasatta, and basil pasta.

I am recovering.... Even thinking of food a couple of hours ago was not happening. Can I recommend bugs being the new weight loss fad.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 27/10/2018 13:04

Oh that sucks Wolf
Dont let him blame you though -thats not fair Flowers

Is there anything like a club that has a spare place for a couple of days to give you some space ?

Bornlazy · 27/10/2018 14:02

I have a hangover 🤢. Getting it was unfrugal and nursing it will be too - will need takeaway and real coke to get through this in one piece 😫 I haven’t been out for six months so lost the plot a bit.

em my house had big gaps in the banister when we moved in - we had extra spindles put in.

wolf sorry you are having a tough time. I hope ds takes it better than you thought.

Lovemaltesers · 27/10/2018 14:11

We have a bookshelf at the top of our bannisters as I am worried the DC probably copying DP Hmm might use them as a climbing frame. And it is a long drop down.

WereWolfcub · 27/10/2018 14:16

£28 Sainsbury’s to make sure there is stuff for lunches and breakfasts for the next few days, includes pair of jeans for ds.

The car has developed an electrical fault. I’m hoping if I ignore it it might go away

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/10/2018 14:19

Oh no sunny! Yes dealing and making decisions on my own is very difficult at times and I don't always get it right tbh.

It's flipping freezing here today, been out this morning I waited in the car while dd rode, we popped to morrisons for pumpkins and a sandwich, spent £6. Home now and relaxing on the sofa.

wolf that's rubbish, dealing with the fall out to disappointments is hard going. Dd doesn't cope well with plan changes or disappointments so have had to pick up the pieces a few times.

LonelyOversharer · 27/10/2018 14:19

unescorted and quite lovely to have you back, the threads not the same without you.

£15 tesco and £37 in b&q. I am sick of "popping" to b&q. I used to love it, now it's just expensive. Took the hire van back, all ok there. We bought a tank of fuel, 53l for £50!! How amazing is that? Arnold Clark. Will def hire any vans we need from them from now on.

Have build dd2's bed totally, and the frame of dd3's. Under draws to go. Painted my new wall, it looks more than ok. Going to get them soon, I do hope they like their room, even though it's only 1/2 finished, it's changed so much since thursday.

My scrapes are not that bad (braved a look), but my knees are very achy. So, a huge chunk of metal slips, and I shove my knees out to break it's fall. Bonkers. Instinctive years of toddler grabbing I guess.

quite I have a wool warehouse tab open at drops. I do not need anything. I do not need anything.

NursieBernard · 27/10/2018 15:04

Busy week here and I've tried to stick to budget as much as possible.

Friends 40th last night and I managed to only buy one drink, had one bought for me as I was designated driver and I then spent the majority of the night dancing.

Watched DS2 play rugby in the freezing cold this morning, I must invest in some more thermals.

No other plans for today so hopefully a NSD.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/10/2018 15:06

Lonely that sound ouchy. Need a big trip to same IKEA. Pondering van v online delivery.

Happy moving day em. YY to sorting the banister.
Big hug wolf. Hope DS isn't lashing out too much to you.
Happy hangover born.
Gws poorly frugaleer folk.

Start of a spendy session here. Dd and DS both need extra maths and English support. Not frugal but with some jiggling we can do it.
Have to do a shlep to Sainsbury's and Aldi this weekend for holiday supplies.

Not looking forward to the forecast lonely. Might need you to suggest some good indoors things.

AutumnLeaves12 · 27/10/2018 15:08

Girlie it's really interesting to know that the night time decisions are even hard for you when you are a trained nurse. It's kind of a relief to know that it's not just me. Well done there for doing such a good job.

We're having a quiet day in. We've been on holiday and I'm not totally knackered which is nice. It'd good to stop though.

Lovemaltesers · 27/10/2018 15:16

I have finished and submitted my assignment. It's not amazing, but hopefully it passes. And all you can get is pass or not pass. 6 more assignments to go.

Half term is almost over here. My DC have bickered a lot so looking forward to them going back to school/childcare.

We spent a lot of time travelling yesterday to go to a funeral so feeling tired here today. We need to get the house sorted though before back to work. And back on the frugaleering.

I've had a few meet ups with friends cancelled and had the resulting tears from DD. So now I never tell her until just before we meet up with people. I appreciate this doesn't work with a few days away though when you need to prepare the DC.

£61 in Sainsbury's.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/10/2018 15:57

Nurseie The Lidl ones are in. I got the fleece lined tights last year, amazeballs.

I think dh is spending £10 on petrol for me so not a nsd. He has had his swipe and win training.

AutumnLeaves12 · 27/10/2018 16:04

I got a fiver off petrol in tesco yesterday with one of those tokens they give out.

The major triumph was having the courage to leave the car blocking someone in while I went to pay at the counter rather than just paying at the pump and not taking the discount.

ememem84 · 27/10/2018 16:40

Dh is dicking around with curtain poles (which he’s been meaning to put up since 10am...) and ds’ Cot is still not here.

He’s only been spurred on because I said we’re spending tonight at dparents.

This is a fact. We are. Half the stuff isn’t here because he’s been dicking around

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/10/2018 17:26

Two pumpkins are done, I'm very impressed with dds efforts will put a pic up at some point.

Am annoyed with one of dds friends, has mucked her about about meeting up next week. Why do this?! So annoying and now dd is fed up, are all 12 year olds this flakey?

I've been googling pumpkin recipes, going to have a go at pumpkin and lentil soup and maybe a pumpkin traybake as well, will also toast the seeds.
