fluffy I’m fuming too. More so because we’ve done everything we can. Still. We’re following all advice. And today is a new day. I think once they see it’s not happening today things will be different.

Should be an nsd today. Taking a dress back I bought with a voucher today. It doesn’t fit. It’s a shirt dress and is a bit gapey on the buttons. A bigger size wouldn’t have the same fit so back it goes.

CurlsandCurves · 05/10/2018 08:06

em omg the stress!!! Can’t believe you’re having to go through this. And you’re ruining their lives?? Yeah, ok... So what have you finally decided to do? Take their offer or wait?

north another one amazed at the vastness of your lasagne! But glad it went down well and helped break the ice with all the students.

Supposed to be going to the gym this morning, but my house is a tip so I need to tackle that. Been so caught up with phone calls and form filling it’s been a bit neglected. Oh, that was the other thing, the conveyancing people wanted to see tenancy agreements for both properties. First one, fine, we only bought that 5 years ago. The other one however was done through a letting agent 13 years ago and we never received a copy. The letting agent only keep stuff for 5 years so got to sort a new one, which is easily done. But it was just funny, everyone I had to speak to about it was amazed we’ve had the same tenant for 13 years! We’ve been very lucky!

So blitz the house, small top up shop required. Then a treat, microdermabrasion. I love how clear and bright my skin is after it. And luckily the last couple of months my salon has had it discounted.

kitkat6 · 05/10/2018 09:29

em hope you have some progress today.
fluffy we have raided all the discount coupons also :-)
curls hope your tenant feels a lot better soon. Mortgages are stressful!

I have yet another networking meeting this lunch but I am meeting someone there about a potential client and also in the same town for a Lasting Power of Attorney signing.
Not looking forward to the farrier visit for the pony as it is a rescue which we need to sedate so I am hoping I don't get too badly kicked or bitten by the end of the day!

Cagliostro · 05/10/2018 09:38

Best of luck today em I don’t really understand the process 😳 but I really hope they make the sensible choice and you get sorted 💐

It’s all misty and it’s sports club today. Blah.

Paid for some new Badgers uniform yesterday £16. Will have cadets stuff to pay for soon too and that’s full uniform not just shirt/jumper. She’s very excited though as she does miss the uniform element of school.

Going to go through all three kids clothes on the weekend and write a huge list of what’s needed. Don’t think I’ll get round to myself yet somehow 🙄😂

Wolfcub · 05/10/2018 09:56

Morning all. Inset day here so I’m only just stirring (we have very early starts Saturday and Sunday this week). I’m planning to take ds to look at consoles as he wants one for his birthday and can’t decide which and then perhaps lunch and cinema. I have one free cinema ticket and will use a voucher or code for lunch I think. We’ve not been out for lunch together, or to the cinema in a very very long time.

Happy frugal Friday everyone. Em sellers can be bastards- ours pulled a fee stunts including finding out our address and coming to visit at night whilst ds was in scbu to tell us to get a move on! I hope yours see sense today. I dislike shirt dresses for that reason. They would be so much better if they just did a false placket and put a hidden zip down the side.

ememem84 · 05/10/2018 10:10

EMAiled lawyer and said that if they come up with a reasonable solution to the points raised in our email of last week (which are the sticking points) and it’s all agreed by 12noon today we go to court at 2. This will mean going home and getting changed and going back to court. But doable. Reasonable to me means £20k off the asking price. But I’m not asking for that. Let them decide what’s reasonable.

If we don’t go today I’ve asked for confirmation of 3 things to be able to go next week. To go today we want confirmation of 5 things (two of which are minor in comparison to the other three).

We are calm. We are collected. We are focussed.

I’ve bought myself a naice chai latte £2.10 (!!) and am ploughing through work.

Focus is key. As is channelling my anger and rage at work. Productivity is up.

I’m also aching from the gym. Stairs are my nemesis today. Too many weighted squats yesterday. My poor glutes!

Essentially cag nothing happens here re property purchases unless the buyer and seller go to court. You swear an oath by listening to the oath in jersey French and then raising your hand. Once your hand is up you’re done.

Sellers lawyer has power of attorney for them. Ours doesn’t for us. So if we don’t turn up nothing happens. Lawyer knows we have no intention of going to court today unless we reach a reasonable conclusion in good time. I sent him the email at 9. Heard nothing so far.

Tick tock. Tick tock.

WreckTangled · 05/10/2018 13:45

£62 Aldi
£3 Iceland
£4.35 Lidl (I got stollen!)
£30 fuel
£16 Homebase on a clothes horse as ours broke

Meal plan:

Lasagne
Bacon spaghetti
Meatballs mash and veg
Pizza
Macaroni cheese
Butternut risotto
Chicken sausage pasta

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/10/2018 13:51

They are cheeky fucker em. If it falls through you will find something better. They are being deliberately opaque.

£1.08 bananas and frozen peas in aldi.
£4.80 mini roller and tray in wickes.
£1 wilko rinse aid.

ememem84 · 05/10/2018 13:53

Update. Although it’s neither good nor bad.

No court today. We’re aiming for next Friday. They’ve issued threats etc. To put property back on market and to accept first offer that comes in. I’m hoping they don’t but if they do we lose nothing. (it’d take another 6 weeks for them to sell and they’ll be liable for our costs).

We’ve organised a drain survey for Monday. And after that will deal. Dh has organised a roof inspection again for Monday.

Our lawyers have been brilliant. So once we’re through (aside from paying their bill) I’m going to send them something. Cake I think.

Spends £2.09 post office sending an eBay parcel

Refund of £28 into my gift card.

Wolfcub · 05/10/2018 14:15

Em well that’s not the best news but not the worst. Really they have no-9ne to blame but themselves.

Spendy day so far £43 for lunch plus tip (after using 25% off code). £16 cinema (14 discounted tickets from BlueLightCard but then cinema charged bookeig fee) still cheaper than full price. £6.50 pick and mix at cinema as Willis he run out of luck and mix bags.

So not as cheap as planned but we are having a lovely day which, quite frankly, at the moment I would pay three time what I’ve spent for.

Wreck your meal plan sounds very nice

Thatsnotmybookworm · 05/10/2018 15:54

Sounds like a lovely day @wolfcub, and well deserved too.

Updated spends from yesterday;
£70 anniversary gift for DH

Today's spends:
£2 work canteen
£8 Shellac removal (but I have frugally decided that is IT with Shellac/nails for the foreseeable future, apart from very special occasions. It's too much time/money/hassle getting in on and then off again, unless I am getting it put back on everytime, and its also just too much time/money/hassle keeping it up every couple of weeks. So I am done.)
£64 deposit for new blind.
£50 diesel, snacks and sweets (bribery) for DS.

Also @em, I bought a new top recently that gaped and a dressmaker put a little extra hook thingy in it for £3; I'm sure I could have done it myself (or gotten DM to do it!), but it was in a silky delicate fabric that I was afraid of damaging. That's probably not your priority today though, the house buying sounds pretty stressful.

ememem84 · 05/10/2018 15:57

thats great idea! I do have another gapey dress so will give that a try! But yeah...not priority today.

I feel deflated now. I’m sure everything will be ok next week. But still. Frustrating.

One more week won’t hurt though in the long run.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/10/2018 16:45

I survived my first day back at work, was nice to see everyone and I'm not too sore so pleased with that!

Going out tonight to colleagues leaving do, plan on spending £20 ish as it's a meal.

Happy Friday everyone 😊

ememem84 · 05/10/2018 17:31

girlie yay! So pleased you had a good day!!!

Day over.

I’m waiting for dh in the car. Cannot wait to go home and have a nice glass of wine lemonade

Wolfcub · 05/10/2018 17:39

Is anyone else with bt and found this month’s bill format almost impossible to understand?

northender · 05/10/2018 17:42

Another quick check in.
Fantastic that you're back at work Girlie
Em you sound like you're managing a crap situation well.
Re the lasagne, that's what I was planning to make for tea anyway and I was going to freeze the leftover bolognese. As the numbers went up, I pulled out a square pyrex that I bought at a car boot for peanuts years ago and probably use once a year. I filled it to the brim and it worked out perfectly. None left for the freezer but that's fine, still a frugal win!
Today has been supervision at the hospital for my course so my brain is spinning. No spends yet today but going to cricket presentation tonight so will spend a bit on drinks. dd not back from trip until later, leaving dh in charge Grin

SummerDaize · 05/10/2018 17:46

I earned £30 fixing a kind neighbour's computer this morning. I say kind, because I wouldn't have charged her but she paid me anyway.

I then immediately spent it on a new violin bridge because I had snapped mine. oops.

WreckTangled · 05/10/2018 18:10

Ooo I like these boots (Clark's Orinoco spice lace up boots for those who can't see the photo)

ememem84 · 05/10/2018 19:03

I’m after a pair of flat black suede slouchy calf length boots.

north yep. I’m managing. I haven’t cried yet.

I have had a g&t. Bye bye dry October.

Wolfcub · 05/10/2018 19:16

Em, I think you are being very restrained, I would have had a bottle by now

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/10/2018 19:33

That's so stressful em. They are cheeky fuckers. They have more to lose so stand firm, hard as it is not to be gutted.

£99 Sainsbury's, £68 Aldi, £16 Iceland, £17 Waterstones.

Loads of kids here tonight

LonelyOversharer · 05/10/2018 20:14
