Thought I'd make a new thread, I'll post on the old one and alert to its presence.

Great organising seacow!

Who here uses a mooncup again?
I’m definitely getting some washable pads but I’m so very very heavy today and pads aren’t enough 😰 I’m hoping it’s just because it’s the first proper one, but if it stays like this I will need to consider something. Specifically it’s the forming a vacuum bit that is making me feel a bit... icky

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/09/2018 18:02

Think it's me and north. Mine was a knockoff one on ebay for £3. Cut your fingernails before you use it.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 29/09/2018 18:09

Hi everyone
Been a bit ill so not posting, feel a bit betrer today.
mammy that is great news, onwards and upwards Flowers
north hope ds feels better soon.
sea congratulations on the job.

cag I use a mooncup, can't remember who else does.
It works well and I do suffer from heavy periods and even though sometimes I will use a pad as well, just in case, I have never leaked, unlike when I would use tampons.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 29/09/2018 18:11

*did use tampons

QuitelovesStrictly · 29/09/2018 18:36

I use one -only very occasionally but prior to the mini pill I had horrendous periods and it was fantastic.
Used it for 8 or 9 years ( cant remember exactly) never leaked .
Cag CakeBrew hopefully it might settle down.
It was like a scene from a horror film the first time after my 3 .
Have had a lovely day out so sunny and hot I bought a piece of brie and some chutney Grin yum

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/09/2018 18:48

fluffy 😲😂 to short nails! I'm not brave enough to try a moon cup but I really like the reusable pads, much more comfy than normal pads.

seacow sounds like a good sort out, asking whether you actually like something is a good place to start when deciding to keep or chuck clothes. I was holding onto clothes I didn't wear and didn't like which was ridiculous!

I've made a vat of bolegnaise this afternoon, I reckon a large saucepan full must cost around £4.50 to make and will do dd and I at least 5 meals. I use a bag of soya mince, an onion, couple of carrots, tray of mushrooms, tin of tomatoes/jar of bolegnaise sauce, red wine and stock, also add in marmite and tomato paste at the end.

ememem84 · 29/09/2018 18:48

I’m not brave enough for mooncup. Like the idea but can’t do it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/09/2018 19:01

We've all had worse things up there than a piece of silicone. I'm sure mine says bpa free.

I wonder what the absorption of bpa into the vaginal canal is?.

SnugglySnerd · 29/09/2018 19:40

I'm grumpily wondering why the BBC have to put Strictly on so early. Totally inconsiderate to those of us who have to put small children who won't fucking go to sleep to bed so miss half of it.

Frugal win today though - remembered I got Halloween costumes reduced to £1.50 on 1st Nov last year and dug them out of the loft.

Cagliostro · 29/09/2018 19:43

I’ve definitely had worse up there but I needed diazepam or gas and air for most of it 😳😂

kitkat6 · 29/09/2018 19:44

Hi all I am a long term lurker.

I need to start some serious frugaling as despite my best efforts the debt levels are going up not down. As both me and DH are self employed our income fluctuates massively always enough for the bills but we are terrible at working together when it comes to money.

Todays spends have all been work related and essential (paper and stamps).

Online food shopping done at Ocado which will come out to just under £60 there should be no need for top up shops hoping to have a week where we dont have a bottle of wine (or 5). It is being delivered tomorrow.

DS1 is going to be at football in the morning and swimming pm. We have been invited to a BBQ over lunchtime. So no time to go out and spend money.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/09/2018 19:51

Hi kit, Whats stopping you working together to reduce debt?.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/09/2018 19:52

That's not meant to sound snippy.

SnugglySnerd · 29/09/2018 19:57

Welcome Kitkat!

kitkat6 · 29/09/2018 20:22

Fluffy - didn't sound anywhere near as snippy as I am with him at times!!

We need to sit down and have an open chat but it turns into one of us being defensive. Ironically he is an accountant so basically hates paying tax, the debt is well controlled and on either 0% or very low levels of interest. To pay off the debt at a quicker level it would mean taking larger drawings from the company which would then be taxed. I would rather do this - he looks at me like I have two heads.

We want to remortgage spring 2020 so the majority of the credit card debt needs to be paid down by then as we need to take some money out of the house to extend the kitchen.

Therefore I am compromising we are not going to take much more money out of the company but I plan on significantly reducing our outgoings to repay debts at a higher rate. More lentils and less meat.

ChristmasSeacow · 29/09/2018 20:24

Oooooh, BRIE AND CHUTNEY! God I want that now.

Hm burger and wedges for dinner instead.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/09/2018 20:31

An accountant! its a wonder he hasn't already got you on bread and water Grin

Starving him out sounds great!.

It's always the dh.

Cagliostro · 29/09/2018 20:34

Nah, Brie and black grapes (that in fact was one of the things mum brought round after my eldest was born, along with pate!)

Manchego and tomato chutney 😋

Welcome kitkat!

I made lovely couscous today and fried some halloumi (seems to be less squeaky that way). I made a huge batch of the veg (courgette pepper onion garlic) so I’m going to freeze it in portions and then add ‘fresh’ couscous after reheating

SnugglySnerd · 29/09/2018 20:39

We just had cous cous and fried halloumi too Cag!

QuitelovesStrictly · 29/09/2018 21:00

Just for clarity the brie wont be eaten with the chutney Grin
Brie with grapes or Cheddar, apple and chutney .Crusty granary .
Its Cornish brie and will run away as I unwrap it ,its so ripe.
The Mooncup talk is making me laugh .
Whats come down is also relevant.
In my case 3 very large babies .
I did worry it might get lost up there 😂

Wolfcub · 29/09/2018 21:01

Mmm Brie
Welcome Kit
I have ds back and in bed and I have wine!!!

Wolfcub · 29/09/2018 21:03

I liked my moo cup it coped with axemurderer periods but it didn’t do well with work where we don’t have basins in cubicles (and I couldn’t get away with only emptying it once a day) and I found the stalk, even cut down, made me a little sore

ChristmasSeacow · 29/09/2018 21:11

Ooh I hadn’t refreshed, welcome Kitkat. I have been self-employed on and off (and am about to be again) so I know that dilemma!

Cagliostro · 29/09/2018 21:15

Axe murderer periods😂 yep that sums up my day. I’m not leaving the house tomorrow. I am really desperately hoping this is just because it’s the first one. I used to have quite heavy ones until after DS. I will be pissed off if it’s gone full circle.

As for what’s come down, well DS was nearly 12lb :o and yet I felt far more wrecked by tiny Rowan (6lb9) so god knows.

Hmmm that’s interesting about the stalk. I find tampons annoying for that reason so that’s something to think about.

I’m wondering about the sponge thing 🤔

ememem84 · 29/09/2018 21:16

Helloooooo sushi.

Dh has never had sushi before.

But. He’s been so brave and has tried everything.

We ordered the chefs platter. 40 pieces between 2 and a bottle of prosecco. And some edamame. Yummmmm. I specified no octopus. And no eel.
