I'm asking Santa for an instant pot.

Hey meadow. I wouldn't bother with a play may now. Just a nice blanket and some toys. My DC love their fleece £5 blankets from Matalan. They are used loads.

I'm no nonsense. My DC are usually the highest in the tree or on the climbing frame. Probably why I have my own seat in a&e. Ahem.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 19:48

Suet puddings are very quick prep, not much mixing and only 4 basic ingredients. Plus syrup. If you do jam you have to put the batter in first, then jam, then more batter.

It's a good one for egg allergy sufferers.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 13/09/2018 19:53

Hello all.
Yesterday was a NSD
My dd is coming home from uni for a few days and I am meeting her and her friend at the pub later so will be a bit spendy, but it will be worth it

northender · 13/09/2018 20:03

Life I may end up asking Santa for an Instant Pot too! I'll watch people's results with interest. Or I might buy myself one with some of the extra money I'll be earning. After all, it will help me to manage the cooking as well as doing the extra hours, won't it???!!
Dd has a cold and ds has a high temp. Pil have arrived, dh has had enough already, I may be doing lots of study & mumsnetting over the next few days Wink

ememem84 · 13/09/2018 20:26

Woah I’ve missed loads.

Sticky toffee pudding. Yummo.

Baths. Yummo.

I walked home after work and got there just in time for ds’ dinner.

We played with our bubble wand in the garden. Ds shrieked with laughter. I haven’t seen him that excited about new toys for ages. He chased the bubbles round the garden. 😀

Then bath. Duncle (mums brother) FaceTimed mid bath and ds was his charming self. Did some bath farts for his uncle. Haha.

SnugglySnerd · 13/09/2018 20:33

Still struggling to catch up. Being really really busy means less time for spending though!

MeadowHay · 13/09/2018 21:02

Thanks ladies, I won't bother then. I do try and put her on her tummy a few minutes each day at least but she really hates it! She quickly gets very annoyed and cries and she won't lift her head up properly so her face just gets squashed and she gets frustrated and upset Sad. She actually rolled from her tummy to her back a few times for a few days a couple of weeks ago when we did tummy time but she's stopped doing that now Confused. Once the other day she had rolled onto her side in her cradle but not seen her do that again yet. It is really exciting watching her develop her skills and learn new things though, that's my fave part of being a mum so far. I could watch her watch her own hand for hours haha Blush.

I don't bath before bed because she doesn't like having her hair washed and screams and also hates being dried and having her clothes changed and also screams. So not conducive to bed time Grin.

I'd love a sticky toffee pudding now!

Cagliostro · 13/09/2018 21:07

Aw that’s lovely though meadow it’s just incredible watching these tiny wriggly babies become little people with their own personalities and skills. It’s quite mindblowing. And don’t worry lots of babies hate tummy time, R did and you’d never know it now, as quite suddenly she just began to like it. They change so quickly.

I am wiped and headachy. Thankfully the puking seems to have been just because of coughing and she hasn’t as much during the day so hoping that was the worst of it.

But of course the one time we could get to bed early is when Tesco isn’t booked till 10-11, and they are running late. 😡🤦‍♀️

ememem84 · 13/09/2018 21:34

Ds hated tummy time too meadow he loves a bath but also hates being dried not sure why.
It’s amazjng though isn’t it? Watching them develop. Ds has just stared spinning g what we refer to as “cowboys and Indians” noises (patting his hand against his mouth while going “waawaawaa”) he’s obsessed with it. He does it himself. And to everyone else.

He’s also started lifting up people tips to look at (and poke) bellybuttons.

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 21:42

Perhaps he has decided on a career change away from Dentistry and wants to be a Surgeon em?
Mine loathed tummy time -I didnt bother as they would lift their heads up and then bash their faces Confused and cry.
Loved their playmat/gym though .
DS1 would kick all the toys with his feetHmm or grab the toys and heave himself up like he was in a gym .
Kept them very entertained.
Could you see if there is one on ebay meadow?

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 22:10

Lonely
I just saw a tshirt with
Yes I do need all this yarn and thought of you and me Smile

thistimenextsummer · 13/09/2018 22:16

Blummin hell just spent £100 on groceries - in Aldi Shock (thought a huge trolley was only meant to be £40 or so?!!). We have got guests all weekend so there was quite a lot of booze Blush and other nice treats but still... I almost fainted at the checkout!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/09/2018 22:35

My dd was a bit like that meadow she quite liked being in the bath but hated the before and after bit. I still bathed her every evening as her routine was as much for me as it was for her!!

Dd still coughing but slightly better I think....

LonelyOversharer · 13/09/2018 23:03

Oh I need that quite! I had a mug with "make me a coffee, hand me my knitting and slowly back away" on it, but it got dropped.

Tired but got the wee bit of work I needed to do done. Sleep now. It's nearly the weekend!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 14/09/2018 00:53

Had a lovely evening with my dd and her friend and they wouldn't let me pay for any drinks so was still a NSD.
I really do miss her, but ultimately that is our job, as parents, to help them into adulthood and show them that we believe that they can stand on their own two feet.

SummerDaize · 14/09/2018 03:15

Meadow we're the same with the bath and it took me ages to get past the idea that all children must have an evening bath to calm down. Some children are different though, and just don't like it. With us, we have a morning bath when we're both at our bravest and then only when actually needed.

You sound really happy there. It's lovely to hear.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 14/09/2018 05:45

Frugaleers talk weight loss & food http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3304935-frugaleers-talk-weight-loss-food

This is frugaleers weight loss thread for any of you who are interested

Meadow you don't sound like you're suffering as much from anxiety as you did before you had dd. It's interesting that your dd has gone into bigger clothes but not babygrows/sleepsuits mine moved into these first so maybe they grew in length more quickly Hmm

Curvy lovely that you'd a good time with dd and that she wanted to treat you.

At dcs bath time last night ds wanted more bubbles and said to dd we can make more by farting Blush and if we want more water we could wee Blush she was disgusted by this but he was saying it precisely to get a reaction from her & did neither of the things!

Cag that used to happen me with Tesco too, SuperValu don't deliver after 8pm so it's not an issue anymore. I liked late night ones when I'd babies because they'd be in bed when it'd arrive, but I don't have babies anymore so it's not an issue.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 14/09/2018 06:03

Thinking pudding would be delicious with lemon curd Wink how long does it take in slow cooker fluffy? Do you put in water in base or not?

I've converted my friend at work to slow cooker. Her hours have changed at work. So now she puts on dinner every morning & it's ready when dc get in from school. It's changed the way they eat. I was like, sure I've been telling you that for 9 years Grin

In money news - spent €1.50 on two yellow sticker alpro passion fruit yogurts, they'd yesterday's date but I'll still eat them Grin
Joint acc
€130 to au pair
€20 horse riding dd
€30 school bus
€2.50 pocket money to each of dc
€10.10 to Littlewoods, four more weeks and balance will be clear of school uniform & then I must make payments for summer shoes I got.
€30 weekly prepayment to Electric Ireland
€40 home improvement loan

Personal account
Withdrew €20 from my cc just in case I end up being at court a long time today & can't eat my leftover curry for lunch. Money in my account is accounted for - payment to cc2, payment to fuelcard, car loan payment & dds savings, yesterday payment went out for mobile phone bill and transfer to joint account.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/09/2018 06:18

Good luck today mammy.

Mine hated tummy time. But an eBay or Facebook search for a play mat would be good.

£91 in Asda coming tonight for the convenience. I think Aldi can be quite expensive. Some stuff is still better than Sainsbury's though so I will still go.

SummerDaize · 14/09/2018 06:32

mammy what book do you follow for the slow cooker? I've never been able to get the recipies right, and I do own one.

LonelyOversharer · 14/09/2018 07:25

Up a bit late as I left my phone (alarm) downstairs. Then had to wait for dd1 to get out of the bathroom before I moved! We have but one loo. Just lunches to do though.

Aldi is getting expensive I think. It comes with them offering choices. I want them to go back to, here is the peanut butter, smooth or crunchy. Not whole nut (revolting) almond nut (££) extra this, special that. And sneak up the base price of the original item.

My 4 weekly asda delivery is really working out. Even if we do use 1/2 the van. Because I am not needing to shop so much. If I go in to tescos for catfood I'll just spend £65 on a loads of other stuff we might need and forget the cat food

My girls bathed every night, but ds had some sort of water hatred, it was very hard to deal with. We can get him into a bath perhaps 2-3 times a week now, and he will go swimming, but at one point we were down to a flannel.

QuitelovesStrictly · 14/09/2018 07:29

Lonely
Haha great mug.
Ive got one with "Id rather be knitting" on it.
Its a lovely day here ,chilly but sunny and Ive got an annual leave day as Ive got rather a lot to use up.
Hurrah !
Gym this morning and a small shop then nothing planned for this afternoonSmile
I might sit out in the garden and knit .
Picked up a huge bag of free apples (same place as last time) but they will be fiddly to peel so will make apple jelly which is lovely with a roast and for adding to gravy and sauces.
Have a lovely day -Its Friday !🎉🎊😎

Bornlazy · 14/09/2018 07:30

My top tip for slow cookers is once it’s cooked, if it’s too watery, leave it cooking with the lid off to let the steam out and it dries it up a bit. I love my slow cooker ❤️

Wolfcub · 14/09/2018 07:31

Good luck Mammy
Girlie I’m glad dd is coughing better
Meadow you sound like you are doing brilliantly, if you have an IKEA near you they have a good range of relatively cheap baby toys including mats and things
Sunny glad the lesson went well

All your cheerful chatter is keeping me going at the moment, keep frugalling on ladies Flowers
