Quite you have to have cream as well sticky toffee sauce, custard and then cream on top

I am sat on the most horrendous hot train, making me feel very Envy (not envy). Must do some more work when I get home

Baths are a stress reducer in my house too

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 18:24

Or cream mmm
Ive made a huge syrup sponge pudding in the past.
DH almost wept with joy 😂
It wouldnt take long in an Instant Pot Wink
Seriously though if you have a fair crowd or are greedy its super cheap to make your own syrup sponge or STP .

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 18:25

Guess where I am nowmammy?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/09/2018 18:26

You lot are making me hungry!! I bloody love sticky toffee pudding, I must give making it a go - its not too hard in a microwave?

We had a very disappointing dinner Sad Aldi fish in batter was not very nice, fish was very chewy Hmm and the chips weren't great either, the salad bits were the surprising best bit!

Spent 54p on some cough sweets for dd so LSD.

Wolfcub · 13/09/2018 18:26

Good point about the instant pot Quite. I haven’t had a microwave for about 19 years and an emergency steamed pudding is probably the one thing I miss it for. I hadn’t considered the instant pot (still two weeks until delivery)

Quite I don't use bath much myself but for dc 👍👍

MeadowHay · 13/09/2018 18:43

Girlie DH recently bought these posh chips from Iceland. Iceland own make but their like posher range, they taste like roasties in the shape of chips, they are probs the best frozen chips I've had Shock!

DD is 12 weeks old and I'm debating buying her this but then I read that they usually sit up around 4 months and then not interested in these things anymore. She's only just starting to bat at things and try and grab things above her sometimes like my hand/the bottle etc so I don't think she'd have been arsed about it earlier but then not sure it's worth nearly £50 if she'll only use it for a month or so...any advice?

I'm currently sitting by DD and DGuineaPig and alternating shaking a rattle at the two of them Grin. THey are both very impressed Grin. Also, DD can laugh now Shock. It is awesome.

Our carpet for the stairs and landing got fitted today, it makes the house seem much more homely not having to wear shoes up and down the stairs so as not to step on nails and that Hmm. NSD for me, DH been sorting everything today money-wise and I haven't left the house. DD had her vaccinations and was quite cry-y earlier so we gave her some paracetamol and now she's in a much better mood so think she was feeling a bit poorly.

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 18:46

Ive never made a steamed pudding in the microwave Shock
A from scratch one?
I use my steamer and the STP is baked.
Wolf an emergency steamed pudding -its always an emergency surely Grin
Ok now Im really considering an IP --somehow Ive managed to convince myself

Wolfcub · 13/09/2018 18:48

Quite yes from scratch in about 3.5 mins. It was a university survival staple!

Cag DM and DB are sick here so far. DB first - he is a trainee pharmacist and most of the pharmacy staff have come down with it and one of the other branches had to completely close one day as there wasn't enough healthy staff to run it! Now DM has it too. Crossing my fingers tightly that neither me, DH, nor DD gets it. Especially as DD and I are planning to go to the north east next week with DM to visit family there.

Seacow DD is in some of the 3-6 trousers/leggings you gave us now as she is quite tall and has outgrown all of her 0-3 sleepsuits. But then she's still far too small for the 3-6 sleepsuits Confused. Annoying being in-between sizes.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 13/09/2018 18:48

Intrigued about the puddings too.

Wolfcub · 13/09/2018 18:50

Along these lines. I always did either jam or syrup

mammy I use to ease pain.
Every night without fail and all my DC love a bath.
They had a bath every night as children .
It horrifies meWink that DC dont get dunked every night -its great fun, they smell lovely and it zonks them out.
Mine loved the winding down and they settled quickly as a result.
Right had better get out.
DH decided he would treat us to fish and chips as he forgot to take out dinner.

Justanothermile · 13/09/2018 18:53

Lovely to hear from you meadow, I can imagine you were ready for the stair carpet fitting!

We are definitely on the same page quite, probably in more areas than parenting. Practical and no nonsense re children for sure.

I've been on the go all day, I'm quite tired in fairness. I've done a lot of cooking and baking, tidying, washing blah blah.

But, NSD.

Still need to menu plan, veggie Thai curry tonight at least.

Justanothermile · 13/09/2018 18:57

Mine always had the last half hour of CBeebies, bath, story while drinking milk then bed. Almost religiously, asleep by 7.30pm. We didn't really go out for meals etc at that stage anyway, couldn't afford it but wouldn't have anyway. Good times, you don't appreciate at the time!

Cagliostro · 13/09/2018 19:01

I agree meadow it is probably not worth that for the amount of time it may get used. She could well be rolling soon and then may not be interested in lying on her back. Cagletini barely used hers at all, when she was small enough to lie still she hated being anywhere other than in our arms, and then she was rolling and refusing to be still anyway. Ours only cost £15 so I didn’t mind the waste so much! Is she having some tummy time, some toys to encourage that may be a better use of funds.

Thankfully she hasn’t puked since 6am and isn’t coughing so much now. We’ve had a quiet evening and I’ve been googling for toys for her birthday funnily enough. Feel rather too knackered and brain foggy to do anything else. DS wants to play our new game we got on our trip. There was a lovely indie comic book and game store in the city, I adore shops like that and always try to support them, and actually in this case the game (Anatomy Fluxx if you’re wondering wolf :o) was no dearer than online. Plus he found an amazing but hard to find book for me. Woo!

Thyroid is indeed fine fluffy he reckons the dodgy result was due to a virus as the two since have been perfect. However I am to keep a closer eye on blood sugar as I am high risk due to GD, and family history, and he reckons I have metabolic syndrome too. And weight. I have really let myself go this year after doing really well last year.

thistimenextsummer · 13/09/2018 19:12

I've just got my 2yo back into the bath after 9 months of screaming anytime she even went near the bathroom. It's utter joy and a real game-changer to be able to fold laundry/clean the bathroom/sit still for 10 minutes whilst she splashes around.

Spent £9 today on some birthday bits. We've bought a bubble machine for the littlest one - can't wait to see her face!

SummerDaize · 13/09/2018 19:13

I just went for my first proper clarinet lesson, which I enjoyed a lot. I learned articulation and mostly just playing stuff over and over again until it sounded better. 'nother one booked for next week. £20. GrinGrinGrin

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 19:19

Suet puddings are steamed in the slow cooker here. Takes about two hours. The best bit is dh often only has 1/4 portions and I get the other 3.

Kids are filth magnets, they need a good wash to get all the stickiness off them.

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 19:28

Aaaah bubbles this hours of fun Smile

What sort of suet pudding do you make Fluffy ?
Ive never made one .
I do my Christmad pud in the slow cooker

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 19:33

www.glamoursleuth.com/2012/11/mary-berry-scrumptious-suet-pudding.html

It's incredibly easy. I use proper beef suet as I'm trying to be palm oil free.

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 19:40

Oh I see !
I thought it was going to be meaty like steak and kidney pudding?
Ive never used suet in a sweet pudding only dumplings which sit on the top of a casserole in the slow coker.I float them on top and they go mad!
The syrup sponge recipe didnt use suet -it was a light sponge ,baked in the oven.
Good food I think.
It was huge and fed 8 of us.
