ememem84 · 14/09/2018 08:13

Morning all.

Ds woke up late today 7am! So we’ve had a chilled morning so far. Probably should have left for work 10 minutes ago but Friday.

Dh is Weston the most horrific Hawaiian shirt I’ve ever seen. It’s his works summer party today. So he’ll be back at around 10pm.

Had a chat with him yesterday and he’s had a chat with hr about bullying at work without mentioning the bullying word.

Whether they help him or not that’s another question. But he’s raised the issue.

CurlsandCurves · 14/09/2018 08:14

Glad I wasn’t on here last night, all your talk of puddings would have had me raiding the cupboards in search of sweet stuff!

I’m another one who’s kids always had a bath every night. DS2 still does. Ah, the days when they used be tucked up by 7pm...

I’ve had a really busy week, only had time to go to one exercise class. It’s been my work, doing my dads work, keeping on top of the house, etc. Today I’m planning on cleaning the house, couple of hours work then actually having a bit of me time. Lunch, catch up on whatever I’ve got recorded on Sky. And my friend is doing the school run so I don’t need to go for that. Might even have a nap!
Then more work, make a chilli for tonight and treat the boys to KFC.

Bornlazy · 14/09/2018 08:21

Good luck mammy you are going through such a tough time. Take care of yourself Flowers

Justanothermile · 14/09/2018 08:40

Morning.

I needed the routine of bath time too girlie, I was often alone at this time (not of course on my own all the time, definitely not saying that) due to DH working all hours, so I needed the practice to know my day would end soon!!!

Today is DS’s birthday, 19. How did that happen? We are going shopping for clothes. He can’t wait........

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/09/2018 08:55

Happy Birthday Jam Ds.

Flu jabs are bookable in boots now, it's a 4 strain vaccine. I'm thinking of booking one for tomorrow morning after my eye test.

ememem84 · 14/09/2018 08:56

meadow another thing we did with ds was make him a “treasure basket” he was a bit older than dd though. I filled a cardboard box with some bubble wrap, a flannel, some fabric, wooden spoon, dried pasta in a plastic jar, dried lentils in a plastic jar, ribbon, and some space blanket. He liked to pick things out and examin them.

When he was about 12 weeks though it was blanket on the floor and toys. But treasure basket may be an idea for when dd is more interested in things.

We haven’t let him play with ladders yet though. He’s obviously not that advanced....

He did eat a whole nectarine this morning. He was after the one Dm was holding (ready to cut it up for her breakfast...) she gave it to him for holding and he chomped into it....

SummerDaize · 14/09/2018 09:10

That sounds nice Em. Smile Ladder phase was 2.5 years for us.

I'm sorry your dh is having a hard time at work. That sounds tough.

I have another busy day today and am trying to be sensible and stop for a bit this morning.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/09/2018 09:10

I nabbed my mums Christmas cake off her plate at 6 months and shoved in enthusiastically into my cake hole. If your going to leave cake just lying around like that though it will get eaten.

All tomorrows flu jab appointment's have gone already. Bugger.

SummerDaize · 14/09/2018 09:13

LOL! Fluffy first time we set up dinner at a table with ds he ran round and took a bite out of one potato waffle on each plate, so fast we couldn't catch him.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 14/09/2018 09:15

Morning all, crap nights sleep in the end as dd was coughing for most of it! Really hoping the meds kick in today bless her, can't believe she has missed three school days already.

Good luck today mammy thinking of you 😘

We have a friends dog coming for the wend today, she is a lovely thing very friendly and well behaved. Hoping she will take our minds off our recent health problems! !

The basket sounds like a great idea em dd loved anything like that, when she was a baby we were still living at my mums who had a no plastic tat rule so most baby toys were either household items (wooden spoons/soft cloths/pasta in bottles etc) or wooden toys. Her favourite game was taking things out from one place and putting them back in another!

Wolfcub · 14/09/2018 09:18

I have made a ragu for spag Bol on Sunday, dealt with yet another drama with ds and at some point I need to get my ass in the shower and then start some cleaning and ironing

Girlie
Mine loved doing that ,endlessly and banging a wooden spoon on a drum -saucepan Smile

mammynowanauntyIRL · 14/09/2018 10:00

Thanks everyone

ememem84 · 14/09/2018 10:00

I gave ds a saucepan and a wooden spoon the other day while I was cooking. He sat on the floor and made such a noise. He was happy though!!

He also loves putting things in things. Taking them out. Putting them in again. Passing them on to people....

ememem84 · 14/09/2018 10:08

£6.45 on three coffees, two pecan danishes and a flapjack at cafe across the road. Saved money by using keep cups and real mugs.

Cagliostro · 14/09/2018 10:11

It is so lovely when they do that. I feel like I’m enjoying it even more this time round. R was playing with an American football this morning and throwing it to DD1 :o

I was wondering about a treasure basket (they are referred to as Wnaky Baskets on MN :o) I think they are great fun as you can put any number of things in. I also want to make a big sensory board, I’ve seen them on eBay with things like bits of carpet and bumpy surfaces to feel, and also fiddly things like light switches and basically all sorts of things you might get from a DIY store. I thought it might be a fun HE project to plan, budget and make it.

Feeling really dodgy this morning so have stayed home from sports club. First one of the year and the first in the new venue (with more difficult parking), with some new people as well, and it is a new format of being drop in (as a free intro to new venue due to me worrying so much about said parking) so I am sitting here full of anxiety about it not going well. Even though it has literally never not gone well. I hate my brain 🤦‍♀️😂

We do have the option of running some sessions back at the old park in future but have warned people it would mean increasing the price due to the cost and time of getting over there. But it is an option.

Cagliostro · 14/09/2018 10:13

Trying to work out if I dare eat anything Hmm ugh I feel so sick (don’t get excited, no more baby frugaleers here thank you) thankfully baby has dozed off

MeadowHay · 14/09/2018 10:32

Mammy Ah I'm not so bad with being anxious when I'm at home now - it was pretty awful whilst I was still breastfeeding but I feel like I at least sort of know what I'm doing most of the time with her now haha. But going out and stuff is still really bad. It helps that I've moved back to the area where I grew up so I'm super familiar with everything here so it's not as bad to get out but I still get really anxious and get really anxious about getting out the door with DD too as it just feels like such a mission, it doesn't help that physically getting out of my front door is quite difficult as we have a few steps to the front door so I have to take out pram chassis folded, open it, take out changing bag, take out DD in her carrycot which is now reaaally heavy, then lock the door. I find it really stressful like everyone in the street is watching me struggle with the heavy stuff but I know that's silly really Blush. It's Friday and I've been out the house twice so far this week - on Tuesday evening I went to the hospital for postnatal exercise class, and on Wednesday I went up the road to a couple of local shops with my sister to help her buy stuff to move into halls and then we went back to DM's for lunch. I think from what I see on MN most people tend to leave the house every day though Blush but I find it too hard and stressful. We have a Baby Bjorn (thanks Seacow!) and that would be easier for me but with my poor motor skills I don't feel confident to put her in and out of it safely yet even though DH has tried to teach me a few times Blush.

I would look for second hand but how easy are they to clean? Can you put the mats in the washing machine? I'm ok with buying stuff second-hand as long as I'm confident I can clean them myself thoroughly first.

Cag I hope you feel better soon. I feel a little bit grim this morning too but I think it might just be because I'm tired. DH is going to deal with DD the next two nights/early mornings though so I can sleeeeep because we're away for 6 nights after so he gets 6 nights of uninterrupted sleep so he owes me Grin. She sleeps really good for her age though so I shouldn't complain as I know it can change (and it is - worse now than 2 weeks ago eek).

I have no hot water or heating because the pressure on the boiler is too low and I dunno how to fix it Blush Sad. The heating is not that big a deal as living room thermometer says 19.5 degrees C anyway but I can't warm up her bottles without hot water so using pre-made which is ££££!

ememem84 · 14/09/2018 10:33

Ah yes the mn wanky basket. Nursery do them that’s where I got the idea. But then our nursery is particularly wanky. Haha. Apparently (according to a fb post about it yesterday) it’s for “children of up themselves finance worker wankers who have more money than sense and want to be seen as part of the elite”

This was the nicest of the comments. Nursery are taking legal action against the posters. Most of whom have never been to said Nursery.

Sorry you’re feeling unwell cag

Cagliostro · 14/09/2018 10:36

Blimey em why are people bitching about the nursery?! Every time you post about it I think how awesome it sounds. Are they just jealous they can't go themselves 🙄🤔😂

ememem84 · 14/09/2018 10:36

meadow

I aimed to leave the house with ds three times a week when I was on mat leave (only week days). And I agree it was a mission. Carrying ds down the stairs with his stuff my stuff etc. Getting him into pram was awkward for me too as pram lived in the car boot. So I had that added anxiety of having to either leave ds in the apartment for all of 2 minutes while I ran down took pram out of car and dumped it in downstairs hallway. Aaaah.

I’ve learned to carry less stuff. I love a handbag. But found it easier to shove all my shit into ds’ changibg Bag.

MeadowHay · 14/09/2018 10:48

Em Yeah in my old flat on the occasions I had to go and let someone out of the complex, because there was no way to do that without a fob, I would leave DD locked in the flat in her cradle or whatever whilst I went down three flights of stairs, walked to the gates, let the person out, then walked back and back up three flights of stairs and I know what you mean about the panic even though you know they are absolutely fine! It was worse if she was already starting to cry before I left the flat, you could hear her screaming from the car park before you even got to our block Blush. She is crying much less and napping much more now that we are keeping up with Infacol so I guess it was wind/gastro pain mostly Sad. Also I never take a handbag with me unless DH is with us too, I just put my wallet, keys, and phone and sometimes a spare canvas bag in the changing bag as well or in my jeans/coat pockets. Lip balm if I remember Grin. Being a mum is hard!

Wolfcub · 14/09/2018 10:54

Ocado order done for Sunday night £97. Hopefully with my nights away with work that will last us two weeks with what’s in the freezer/cupboards. Will need to pick up some bondaweb later from the shops and tomorrow grab some bits for a packed lunch on Sunday.
