Glad you got signed off Girlie and hope the Amitryptyline helps. Unfortunately with neck problems there often are no quick fixes so if medication helps I’m all for it.

Not used the pressure cooker yet I am slightly scared of it. Will man up later and try it out. Nsd yesterday £40 petrol today.

QuitelovesStrictly · 04/09/2018 14:55

Totally agree Born
Neck and back pain is so debilitating , pain relief gets you out of the pain, spasm, pain cycle .
Veteran of that over here Hmm

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/09/2018 15:21

I don't want to be zonked out if I'm here on my own with dd, will see how I go but if no better will have to try it. I seem to be quite sensitive to meds generally and get the side effects. I've had the booking letter through so hopefully will see the specialist ASAP.

Anyway swapped dds school shoes, it's too late now if she decides they're no good!!

£45 aldi got quite a lot so shouldn't need to go again for a while.
£3.30 meal deal in boots.

Am resting for a bit now.

Justanothermile · 04/09/2018 15:34

I'm pissed at the order christmas, but it's mainly duplicates of tinned items that I've bought more cheaply at Aldi. No waste, aside from financial, but annoying. Annoying you've had to go out, I always forget the Ocado cut off is quite early.

I couldn't tolerate amitriptyline and am another veteran nerve pain sufferer here. It's the first one offered I believe but there are others. I was fine on Gabapentin though girlie, it's a more expensive drug than the former I believe. I'm sure that cags DH has used this too?

ememem84 · 04/09/2018 15:39

Trainer has cancelled on me. Sigh.

I’m still going to gym though.

Bornlazy · 04/09/2018 16:19

Where I work we often use both at the same time Shock Some people prefer Gabapentin some people prefer Amitryptaline. My mother who used to feel sleepy after two paracetamol had no ill effects from amitryptaline. Think it can take a few weeks to work which puts some people off.

SnugglySnerd · 04/09/2018 16:21

Hope you feel better soon Girlie.

Just treated myself to 2 new teacher pens for all the marking I'm going to be doing!

Wolfcub · 04/09/2018 16:26

Girlie as someone who hates taking their painkillers and won’t take them at work because they make me stupid I’d just say that not taking them risks that you will continue to move in a very protective way around your injury and may risk making the pain/muscle tightness worse in the long run. I take mine at bedtime if I need to or when alone/not working so that I can get the benefit but minimise the impact on others. Can you take them whilst she is at school/in bed so that if you do have a negative effect you are clear headed when she is home?

TakeItSlow · 04/09/2018 16:48

Is that all the same for slipped discs? One of my friends has one of those at the moment and it's all a bit mysterious. There is discussion of nerve blockers and we're not sure if that is a good idea.

QuitelovesStrictly · 04/09/2018 17:30

I would imagine its best for your friend to discuss any worries/questions about their medication with the person medically trained and who has their medical history rather than us "randoms" on tinternet Take.
Most GPs/Medical teams are reluctant to prescribe so its usually for a good reason .

Cagliostro · 04/09/2018 17:31

Good memory jam! Yup DH was on gabapentin for his disc issues. It had quite a scary effect on him TBH he was snappy and moody and not nice to be around.

He’s never had amitriptyline but I was on it for years for my fibromyalgia, came off when I realised I could be pregnant. Only had the drowsiness as an issue.

Definitely worth trying different things if the first doesn’t work out for you as we are all different. I’d say given DD isn’t a little one it should be fine to try at bedtime, I always had an alarm set for a couple of hours before bed. You may feel a bit hung over in the morning but if you are off work that may be ok depending on DD getting herself ready for school. But please put yourself first here, you are in a lot of pain! 💐

Yes I suppose so. Thanks Quite.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 04/09/2018 17:34

Tayto sistema have been the best for us actually into second year on both dcs bottles, available in mr price, homestore & more & possibly Tesco/Aldi at the moment.

Christmas tips for nanny, how would they deal with x situation? Flexibility? Will they do breakfast/dressing/bedtime or will you? I'll think of more in time. Opinions on screentime/does it differ wildly from yours. Gut feeling matters more than their answers to any questions though.

Em sounds like you've a great relationship with boss! I'm lucky that once you've actually got clothes on at my workplace you're grand Grin

Girlie great to hear you're signed off for now, I'm not clued in so don't know what you've been prescribed, presume it's strong if you're hesitant to take it?
Sad about shoes, dd is funny about hers but once they're comfy she's happy. Ds took to school shoes no bother which I didn't expect, seeing as his shoes i bought in January are unworn.
She will not wear jeans & this has now extended to trousers too so it's leggings/trackies Shock

Wreck I'm on day 4 now without money request other than the stuff we were notified about in June Wink

Fluffy who did you purchase menstrual cup from? If I get a period established again I'll buy one. Sure he hardly helped you with sanitary protection before it's unlikely he'll have to now either GrinGrin
€10.85 on my contraceptive pill/hrt replacement

€0.60 on parking for an office that closed 1.5 hours earlier Angry will need to post letter tomorrow instead, if I'd photocopied my driving license before going in I could've used the letter box Angry

€80 on solicitors appointment, letter going in post requesting amicable separation, timed to arrive Friday because I'm away for weekend WinkGrin

TakeItSlow · 04/09/2018 17:35

I understand the difficulty with taking drugs and having side effects and having sole parenting responsibilities Girlie. My ds has always been very dependent on me night and day and I'm also very prone to drug side effects. I always worry that if I take a drug to control an illness I'll end up feeling worse because of the side effects than I did because of the symptoms. It's a very tricky thing to balance. Good luck with finding a way.

Sometimes I try taking a tiny bit of a pill to see what happens but I'm not sure if the gastro effects are maybe worse if the cover is broken.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 04/09/2018 17:37

€9.85 on cheesecake & tiramisu for au pairs birthday, two snack packs of chicken and two of nuts/beans corn Aldi, joint money

Got my points added to my Dunnes valuclub card as I hadn't it with me on Sunday.

Can't buy diesel as I left fuel card at home but I've 73 miles left and only 18 to drive so I'll get it tomorrow.

Justanothermile · 04/09/2018 17:42

girlie did you at least get the usual blurb about building up the dosage slowly and taking the first at night etc?

Funny cag, I was just a touch weary, the other gave me awful side affects, just shows that it's entirely individual isn't it? X

Bornlazy · 04/09/2018 18:05

Take be very careful if you are breaking tablets as some of them are enteric coated to protect your stomach or are designed to give pain relieve slowly over a period of time.

WreckTangled · 04/09/2018 18:09

Mammy it's £18!!! I was expecting maybe £11 or something. And obviously they want it ASAP because the trip in next week Hmm

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/09/2018 18:11

Thanks ladies, it is tricky as I had a very severe reaction to some meds a few years ago and am understandably wary of any new meds. I guess I'll see how I go, if there's no improvement by the wend I'll give it a go but would take a tiny bit first!!

I'm hoping rest and gentle exercise will help....

Taytocrisps · 04/09/2018 18:13

DD was a bit upset after school today. She has two friends at school but it sounds like they're being mean to her. They're both more assertive than DD and DD's not used to fighting her corner (downside of being an only child) so she's more passive and doesn't stand up for herself enough. It's all low level stuff and I don't think I'd trouble the school about it at this point, but it's making her miserable. And she was having some bad period cramps, so a bad day all around. I counselled her as best I could and got us both some chocolate. I told her I'd make her a hot water bottle when she's finished her homework if the cramps are still bothering her. Sometimes it's tough being a parent Sad.

TakeItSlow · 04/09/2018 18:23

Girlie I totally hear you. I've been known to break a pill in two and eat one of the crumbs that fall down in the middle.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 04/09/2018 18:36

On day 1 wreck that's a bit much!

Tayto was she possible more sensitive to what was said because of pms? HmmI know I definitely take things more to heart at that time.

LonelyOversharer · 04/09/2018 18:42

First day back for us too. Ds was very reluctant to go in, head down, super quiet...seems to have gone ok. Dd3 loving being back. Dd2 got away with her natural nails. 6 weeks growth, they look false and she was desperate to be called out on it. Dd1 is happy as her crush (the super fit lad, we all had one!) chose to sit by her and not his girlfriend...I know Confused.

Gabapentin made dp eat. And eat. He was on it 3 months and put on 3 stone. Holy hell. Before I met him and suspect his mum is a feeder but he was very unwell then. His pins and needles are getting much worse too. Do take it easy girlie I mean really. All that 'stuff' you need to do can wait.

The big car is not economical to repair. Fuckity fuck. So, we are working on a plan, dp has a car living in the front garden. It will be cheaper to mot this, and run 2 four seaters for a while. He could fix the Chrysler, but admits he isn't well enough to do it now. Tax and insurance comparable, so we might go with his leetle car. This will please him. It's an RX8 if anyone remembers them! He will not let me drive it, too tourquey for me, apparently!

I have a week and 20 hours of holiday to take before Christmas. Must think about this.

Spends £44 posting 14 parcels. Ebay went nuts at the weekend. wreck life watch out for little gifts arriving. £3.50 post office, tape, choc and giant hula hoops.

Tea was bolognaise from the freezer over penne, with cheese on top. Yum. And on the table when I got in.

northender · 04/09/2018 19:08

Will try to catch up properly later, this thread moves so quickly.
For now, well done on the menstrual cup Fluffy I've been using one for years. It has saved me a small fortune and it feels much better than any other products.
Girlie have you been referred for physio or is there a different plan in place? If not, I would say if there's any way you can afford to pay for an assessment then go to a private practice (preferably one that has been recommended). Flowers Flowers

First 2 days of the prescribing course survived....woohoo! The work itself isn't too bad yet, but it's the sheer volume in a tight timescale, so it's going to be fun!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/09/2018 19:32

I'd refuse to drive it because of the wankler engine, probably spelt that wrong!

North Has it ever gone stuck due to a vacuum?.

mammy No but I am a bit concerned about vacuums. Luckily my gp loves a good rummage, any excuse with that woman.
