fluff I call it the wanky engine. It's unbelievably small for an engine, that is. To be fair, it's a good one, many of them weren't.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/09/2018 19:44

Rotary is also an accepted term I believe but you cant snigger at that.

Wreck Next term start a book, You'll clean up.

Tayto Does she need an after school activity to increase confidence?

MischiefManager · 04/09/2018 19:50

Evening all, hope everyone’s had a good day. I will try and catch up a bit later, it’s a fast moving thread!!

Had a horrific evening last night putting youngest to bed, or trying, followed by a dreadful nights sleep 😴. Just plucking up courage to attempt bedtime tonight and hoping it will be better for leaving it half an hour later. We’ll see!! Had to spend money on a gate for her door to stop her coming down stairs all night but I’m hoping it will be a worthwhile investment!! Resisted tired temptation to order take away tonight and used freezer fodder instead so pleased with that. Going to try and get an early night tonight and try to wake up feeling a bit more refreshed tomorrow hopefully!!

ememem84 · 04/09/2018 20:01

I hit the gym after work and then walked home. Full hour 15 of exercise. 45 min gym then a 30 minute walk home uphill.

Dh and ds had just got home as I did so ds and I played loads. We built towers and played hiding dinosaurs in my muff** and then had a lovely snuggly cuddle while dh made dinner. Sausage pasta with tomato sauce. Mmm.

Tidied dishwasjered and now sitting down. Watching the bake off. Yay. I love the French girl.

Tomorrow I have to tackle the legal paperwork for the house buying. Forms upon forms. Kyc forms source of funds source of wealth. And Forms for wills. Sigh. But necessary.

** pocket in my hoody you dirty minded lot

Unescorted · 04/09/2018 20:07

girlie I have nothing to add on the pain front except I am hoping it gets better soon.

Lonely are you going to be watching on tmwr/ Thurs. I had carefully booked a meeting in for Thursday...only to have it cancelled. Not happy.

I have just had a thought (they are rare so enjoy the moment) for all you peeps who teach / home ed if you need any data or case studies for regeneration topics let me know. We have things going back donkey years. I can put a pack together based on what we do - mapping / data rich / history of development. If you are interested just pm me what you need.

DS starts back tomorrow. DD next week. They are never going to be at the same school again. That makes me sad. They don't care.....kids eh?!

Unescorted · 04/09/2018 20:10

em I know what you mean... I also talk of things splitting me in 2 without a hint of embarrassment.

Cagliostro · 04/09/2018 20:18

Surely it’s not the size of the wankler engine that matters, it’s what you do with it that counts.

That sounds intriguing unescorted and a kind offer, I will definitely have a think. Given our recent move it would be very relevant indeed!

I’ve planned the first 3 RE lessons, a couple of months of maths (depending how quickly DD picks it up, maths is her nemesis) and grammar work. They are actually going to have ‘homework’ that they have to do alone if possible, DD is actually quite excited about this. Plus lots of other bits and pieces like read alouds online learning etc. Especially excited to get back to Japanese. Just need to pick up one last book before I plan geography. Then once that has all settled in we will be adding a few other main subjects, in particular chemistry for DS

I am so excited to have a printer

unescorted That was hilarious about a rare thought. LOL!

I had a lovely day today. Bumped into a friend in town and had a good natter, and went out for ice cream with ds.

£1.50

Unescorted · 04/09/2018 20:44

take do not encourage me. I have to be bone dry at work and dh does full on eye roll. If I think I have an audience I will become insufferable. Although just for laska I can report the regulator has more sense of imp than my dullards. They are just very good at keeping a straight face when in public.

Cag not kind ... practical. I want people to come up behind me with good creative ideas. If I can get even one person to join us who has a head full of original ideas I will have done my part.

ememem84 · 04/09/2018 20:44

Am Pinteresting.

First birthday cakes. I’m going to make ds’ cake myself. I haven’t baked for ages. Going to keep it simple I think and chocolate cake, vanilla frosting, with a “1” stencilled in sprinkles. Or chocolate shavings.

Am also looking at under stair storage ideas and lovely guest rooms.

I won an item on eBay earlier. I bid £3 on a Pyrex dish. It’s with a lid. From the “tally ho!” Collection. It’s got a fox hunt scene. And was listed for £23 (or best offer). dgrandma had one like this.

Wolfcub · 04/09/2018 20:52

Tayto poor dd I hope she is feeling a bit better now
Em that made me snigger
Ds seems to have had a good first day at high school. I wasn’t around so this is a relief that it went ok.
I have done my long day, seemed entirely pointless to be there today to be honest nothing achieved or possibly I am grumpy because I am not feeling very well (dizzy, nauseous, wobbly) and have therefore not been in the best of work moods
Cag well done on the planning
North glad course is going well

Unescorted · 04/09/2018 21:00

You can make an easy 1 shape using a square cut into 3 rods. Cut a section that is 2 X the width of the rod. Cut a triangle off the end. This is the top. The main part of the 1 is another rod plus as much of the left overs from the other 2 as you need to feed the guests... The bottom is a rectangular section. Coat with a crumb coat.. leave to set. Slather on butter cream and add sprinkles / sweets to decorate.

Now if anyone wants a 2 shaped tin I have one... regulars pm. I kept it if either of mine wanted a numerical cake for their 20s. This is not looking likely.

thistimenextsummer · 04/09/2018 21:10

Long day today wolf but hopefully half way through the working week tomorrow? I'm super shattered today - I think having to get everyone moving this morning has taken its toll!

We're just about to start The Bodyguard after our Nigella chicken (a success with a portion left to freeze)

£7.10 food for the kids, £12 top up shop.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/09/2018 21:10

£125 on food at Aldi and Iceland. Sick of the we have no food, we need to sort our diet out. -well craic on then.

I've read back, I've forgotten as stress and tiredness makes me forgetful. I won't remember everything but a vote of things stuck in my mind.

Mammy - how do you think the letter will go down?

Girlie, could your parents have dd while you try the meds? I know they help you out sometime.

Wolf, rest up and eat.

£52 in next but only £2 cash, £13.49 mountain warehouse, £3 the works, £3 cubs.

Cagliostro · 04/09/2018 21:47

I just ate the three alcoholic chocolates out of my hotel chocolat box (end of season sale and the rest of the box is mostly my faves)

Feel a bit drunk 😂

Where would be good to get a giant cork noticeboard and whiteboard delivered? I have grand plans for the corner of the living room.

NSD
Super busy day at work, sorting out our room for when the children come back. Then did home visits, and a meeting that just went on and on.
Then busy at home, sorting out dinner, cat and kids.
Need sleep!

LabradorMama · 04/09/2018 21:57

This looks like a nice thread, please can I join in?
I'm trying to be frugal already as I'm paying off a loan from my Dad earlier this year which helped me to remortgage with a repayment mortgage rather than interest only. And I'm trying to pay off my credit card. And save for Christmas and a holiday next year. And now my XP is going after 50% custody of our DS so maintenance is probably about to stop too.
And my DS started school today so I'm an emotional wreck all in all!
Anyway, I'm always looking for money saving ideas and chatting with people in the same boat would be nice.

ememem84 · 04/09/2018 22:04

unescorted I was thinking of doing a “1” shape cake. But may just do a circle one.

Dm does have the Australian woman’s weekly birthday cake book with some absolute beauts in it. We had almost all of the cakes Meade for us when we were kids. #memories

May do two cakes. One for the family and one for a cake smash. But that isn’t very frugal.

Wrongwayup · 04/09/2018 22:21

Dog walker £15 only today. So 647 left. Poor you girlie. Hope you get a good rest. Welcome Labrador. Do you have one? I have a collie and 4 horses, all lawnmower like now. Plus various cats chickens etc

Unescorted · 04/09/2018 22:23

cagI am guessing to your house...😁 Cork board... MDF, cork tiles and glue. B&Q. Whiteboard try Freecycle as offices and schools move to interactive.

Em Women's Weekly are the best.

Lab everyone is welcome here.

Cagliostro · 04/09/2018 22:30

:o I was actually wondering about cork tiles instead. But if I get it wrong and it goes wonky then I’ll resent it forever 😳😂

Have you got a spirit level? If so grid up where they need sticking and don't use superglue. You can adjust them until they are right.

northender · 04/09/2018 22:43

fluffy they do take a bit of getting used to, but I've always managed to retrieve it myself, without assistance!
