DH took it down and it’s made no difference whatsoever. Confused The signal is really pants. Not sure whether that is something the HA would sort. Not overly fussed (may get Netflix etc now we are saving money on rent) but it’s rather annoying!

Cagliostro · 24/08/2018 16:46

I’ve no idea if we should put something else up. It was definitely a recent thing, as it was over the wallpaper (but before she painted said wallpaper)... we may want to paint sooner rather than later now! (It’s a weird brick wallpaper with dark grey paint)

Bornlazy · 24/08/2018 17:15

Don’t think HA would fix it Cag as it’s an additional thing fitted by the previous tenant. It shouldn’t be that expensive to pay someone to come in and fix it.

ChristmasSeacow · 24/08/2018 17:15

Some extractors Just clean and recirculate the air - basically take the grease and worst of the smoke out and then spit the air back into the room. They are designed for spaces where there is no way to vent outside. I have one - it helps a bit but isn’t as good as a properly vented extractor.

Still on the road. The A1 has been awful. We should have been home 2 hours ago.

Sorry you are having a rubbish time with your aches etc Girlie

Take are you in the same (nearby) town you went to last time or in your win home town? Can you get to evensong?

Justanothermile · 24/08/2018 17:50

That veg box sounds good value. That's good to know.

girlie you do sound tired and a bit weary in general. Even on holiday. Yo you okay?

Been and done a Home Bargains shop for DS. Loads of cheap items that he will need. Cutlery, toiletries, pasta blah blah. Tons still to get but it's a start. Ikea next week as I think they do a pack of stuff too. There's Facebook groups that I've joined which are great for picking up information but I'm getting a touch pissed off because there's loads of posts too with mums in despair, sobbing, heartbreaking etc etc as their baby is leaving home. Fucks sake, they'll be back in a few weeks. It's what you bring them up for, to make their way in the world. I'll miss DS, of course I will, but I'm more excited for him than anything. And as he quite rightly says, it's not like he will be able to afford a mortgage immediately after graduating, so he could well be with us for years yet.

Eating all my food.. he ate ALL the salad I had made for lunches to last a few days in one sitting yesterday. I didn't know whether to be angry or in aweGrin

Unescorted · 24/08/2018 18:36

Evening all.

We are back from our jollies which were amazing and even more random than planned. I have developed a Belgian Rice Tart addiction. It is as well they are not widely available in the UK. DS decided to Everest the Kemmelberg (cyclist magazine did a write up on their website which was really lovely) - loads of people came along to support him which was lovely but added to the random factor.

DD did super well in her GCSEs... Better than expected. Lonely yes the art went swimmingly and she was given the provisional mark. It may be used as an example of a grade 9 for next year's marking scheme. I knew she had done well when she rang me at 10:03.

North you must be so proud of your DS - he had a tough year, so to pull it out of the bag in exam conditions is special. Top lad.

Sea hope you are home now.

Wolf I am going to have to make that bread. He makes it look soooooooo easy.

TakeItSlow · 24/08/2018 18:46

Christmas yes we're in the same town, with the definite aim of getting to Evensong.I have the times written down and booked with fellas.

Dh pointed out that Center Parcs has no Cathedral so we decided £400 for a holiday with a Cathedral, a waitrose and a swimming pool 100 yards away would be better than £1300 for a Center parc with an hour's drive. Grin

I've just been to the Cathedral shop and looked for Lonely's stained glass. I did find some lovely little stained glass window replicas hanging up. Would that be them Lonely?

The fridge may be a bit iffy here but the sleeping is good. I got 9 hours last night and nearly 4 this afternoon. That really never ever happens to me. Clearly some kind of magic going on. Snuggly I will send you sleep vibes from this house. Maybe they work at a distance.

Is is acceptable frugaleering to blow £12 on lighting candles in a cathedral, do you think? I seem to have a lot of people who need candles lit for them at the moment and I'm considering just going for a job lot. I think they're a pound a go.

TakeItSlow · 24/08/2018 18:49

Girlie I'm sorry to hear about your run. I've noticed that you're finding late nights out quite draining for a few days afterwards at the moment, and you're usually so bouncy. Sending you tlc from here. FlowersBrew

Hope the traffic picked up Christmas.

Flappyjack · 24/08/2018 19:29

unescorted talk us through those belgian rice tarts. They sound good.

girlie hope you feel better after a good nights sleep tonight. FlowersCakeBrew

Spends:
Another £16.00 on nit treatment. The little critters are back. I think they may have morphed into superbugs.
50p on reduced mouthwash
£3.00 on raspberries and strawberries.

Profits:
Returned a pair of jeans from the Next sale because they had a very funky smell, even after a wash +£9.00
Also returned DS2 new mattress +£63.80. I had no idea it was a crappy roll up mattress although I don't know what I was expecting for that price.
Ebay items sold +£36.00. Will post tomorrow.

Can't wait for kids to go to sleep so I can watch Goliath on Amazon tonight. Wasn't a big fan of Billy Bob Thornton...until now.

Unescorted · 24/08/2018 20:18

They are a really rich custardy rice pudding, heavy on the vanilla, baked in a sweet pastry flan. I am dribbling at the thought of it.

Snuggly sleep deprivation is a form of torture for a reason.

Cag I know it was a couple of days ago, but have you tried pochetta. Take a shoulder of pork, cut it so it lies flattish and then beat it into submission... I find imagining it is Boris Johnson helps with this part. Then sprinkle over a generous amount of fennel seeds, chopped parsley and rosemary, garlic squashed to a paste and the zest of a lemon. Season to taste. Roll the shoulder up tightly and tie up with string. Wrap it tightly in doing film. Leave in the fridge overnight. Cook it really slowly, covered by foil in the overnight for couple of hours ( or in the slow cooker) take the foil off and cook to brown the top. Add a good slug of white wine and cook until it has evaporated the alcohol. This bit can be done on the hob while you rest the meat.
It should be falling apart - and if you wanted to pull it you could. Personally I prefer it cut into thick slices with the pan juices over the top.

WreckTangled · 24/08/2018 20:26

Flappy have you tried nitwits? DD's only had headlice once but this did the job.

Flappyjack · 24/08/2018 21:22

Wreck no, only Hedrin and Puressentials. Thanks for the tip. I will try that one next if it doesn't work. Either that or we will all shave our heads 😉

LonelyOversharer · 24/08/2018 21:26

Well done to dd unescorted this sets the bar high for my dd1 next year then!

take yup, thems the things! We churn out thousands, for every church and cathedral everywhere. Very niche! I do the printing onto the glass and the colouring in.

flappy we always do conditioner on wet hair and comb with the nitty gritty, wipe on kitchen paper, squish offenders, and repeat. Every day until a clean day, then every other until we're sure they have left us. It's the only way we got clear. With 3 dd's with long hair, it's inevitable.

Ds favous threadworms. Trust me, these are worse

I just had 2 hours sleep. The takeaway was so nice £24.

Flappyjack · 24/08/2018 21:35

unescorted yum. I love a good custard tart. Portuguese are my favs.

Lonely I love naps. We've tried the nitty gritty but not every day so we will do that tomorrow. I am itching at the thought. DS1 had worms a few years ago and I caught them too and I can confirm its truly grim.

Kids eh!?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 24/08/2018 21:37

Thanks for all the nice comments 😊 yes I have been struggling a bit recently, I think being in pain is so draining and I've just not really dealt with it, just kept hoping it would go away!

I've told work I'm going to be off for a few days, very annoying as will lose my wend enhancements but I need to get myself sorted.

Nsd at least.

Unescorted · 24/08/2018 21:40

I am sure she will do really well.m

Flappy we do the conditioner one too.get a cheap bottle or 2 and use loads. The conditioner smothers the hatched nits apparently. Leave it in overnight. Comb through with a nit comb. Repeat every day for 7 days to catch the hatchlings. I hate nits. Threadworms sound grim.

Unescorted · 24/08/2018 21:43

girlie I hope you get fixed soon.

ememem84 · 24/08/2018 22:17

Home From dinner. Dh’s mates (two of them) ordered food. Mexican Street food (tacos quesadillas tostadas) for us all to share. Couple of glasses of wine and a margarita. (For me - the boys had beers) Mmm. I paid. Used my pub points £73 then the remainder £37 cash. Happy dh.

ChristmasSeacow · 24/08/2018 22:49

Just lost a long post but... home. Phew. Kids have been very hard work today. Lots to do tomorrow...

Wolfcub · 24/08/2018 23:06

Unescorted well done to dd. I’m going to have to google that tart, it sounds delicious

£40 nails and face, £45 Lidl, £50 diesel £20 beer/gin

Got nothing done bar changing the bed, spent four hours with dprents and got fed breakfast and lunch

Bought myself gf magazine to try and make me feel a bit more like cooking, it certainly made my stomach rumble

ememem84 · 25/08/2018 06:56

Spends today £30 riding, £39 nails and £8 dinosaur park.
We’re meeting one of dh’s family friends so ds and her grandson can play together. Should be a nice afternoon. Ds hasn’t been to the Dino park before there are robotic dinosaurs which are ace a super cool play area a sensory area and loads to see and do.

I’m up already. Dparents are off to France today for a 10 days or so. And I’ve got to get ready for my nail appointment. It’s at 9. But have to walk into town as we left the car overnight.

WreckTangled · 25/08/2018 07:11

Girlie do you take vitamin D?

I've woken up with a headache which is always crap. Working in the shop today.

Lovemaltesers · 25/08/2018 07:43

Hope you feel better today girlie. And that you feel better soon wreck

Glad you have made it back safely seacow. I don't envy your unpacking after a month away.

Well done to your DD unescorted

Spendy day yesterday
£120 ShockShock on tickets for Peppa Pig World/Paultons Park. Sadly DD2 was just tall enough that we had to pay for her and the only saving was £5 each booking the night before.

We had a great day, stayed open until close. Avoided the gift shop and ice creams (as the sun kept going in). But as we hit the traffic through the New Forest on the way home and then DP had to pop into work, we had fish and chips for a late dinner £13

I finally used my gift voucher I got from my CS job when I left and ordered a new piano stall (sp?) . Hoping DD1 might start some lessons this term.

Need a NSD today

ememem84 · 25/08/2018 09:02

Nice walk into town. Took 30 minutes. Sun shining. Lovely. Stopped just now for a hot chocokate £2.80 Shock but meh. It’s something I rarely do anymore.

The shops are just waking up for the day.

TakeItSlow · 25/08/2018 09:51

This was my morning's work for today. The shop wasn't open at 8am, so no pictures of stained glass yet.

10 candles lit. £10. That's pretty much everyone covered for the year I reckon.

Ds and I accidentally went to a communion service too, which was good.
