Now that I've put that in the title, we will almost certainly get snow. LOL!

Welcome to nearly-August.

Well done for getting to the other side of it Adora. That's great. Take it easy though and don't push yourself.

Eugh. My plans for churros were thwarted by dd having an anxiety attack. Full on tummy hurting, crying, shaking and telling no one to touch her. Back at the hotel with her now whilst everyone else is still out Hmm

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 30/07/2018 19:56

Wreck is it possible that your ds's brilliance at biking this week is making her feel insecure about her mobility problems? I was thinking of her this last couple of days when you were so proud of your ds and wondering how she was coping with that. not that I had an overly talented brother or anything.

WreckTangled · 30/07/2018 19:58

Don't think so. She's the best at spelling and reading in her entire school. And she knows it Grin

WreckTangled · 30/07/2018 20:00

Sorry should add, she knows she can't be good at everything so the fact that she's so good with the academic stuff makes her really proud and, although she knows she's not great at the physical stuff, she's very open about it and is still happy to join in with everything so I don't think it's that.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 30/07/2018 20:03

That's great than. I'm glad she knows that. She's a bright lass and it's good that she knows it.

Sorry I'm blathering a lot. I'm sitting in bed endlessly trying to chase this bug away, and I've little else to do but stare at MN. Too tired to do useful reading, but not actually currently asleep. Hope the blessed thing goes away soon.

Oh wreck I feel so sorry for you. Churros are my faves!!!

SnugglySnerd · 30/07/2018 20:06

How disappointing Wreck I love churros. Seriously though I hope she is ok.

Welcome Taco. I like Asda wipes best and buy the big boxes.

WreckTangled · 30/07/2018 20:09

I'm hoping dh will be able to get me some take away one! Bit gutted really as wont get to see bil again before we go home. Dd is lying in bed reading a book now, she's feeling better but still doesn't want anyone to touch her.

SneakyGremlins · 30/07/2018 20:44

£21.99 for v basic kettle with no window in!!.. I really dont know what we do to kettles but our last two have both leaked from the window bit . Last one was only bought last year for £60+ (and we cant find the receipt Angry) So this time I have just bought a bog standard cheapy.. fed up with ruddy kettles!

So a trip over to mainland to take back some stuff to John Lewis and buy kettle. ( though DH paid for the ferry and train as he was going back that way also ). £7.30 lunch (chicken caesar salad and a coffee) in John Lewis .

But then this evening I've bought a couple of pairs of sneakers that I saw in the sales and they didn't have my size..one will go back though. One pair was £34 and the other £75.. Sods law says ill end up keeping the expensive ones.. I've also ordered a parka /mac in Seasalt sale 50% reduced but still £65.. I badly need a new one. The only macs they had in John Lewis today were Barbour £££.. Am not buying one of those )

Work tomorrow (Poo! ..even going in 2 days a week and working at home one more seems a bit of an imposition now. I seem to have really taken to (partial) retirement! Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/07/2018 21:25

Aldi wipes are fine. I still have some in the car and mine are not babies.

Ah wreck poor dd and you missing out.

Excellent em DS, that's it your peace is shattered and you need to look down everytime you move catface one side DS the other.

£10.50 primark. £8 superdrug,

Loveabaconsandwich · 30/07/2018 21:27

laska we seem to have the same issue with kettles, none seem to last more than a year. So last time I bought a cheap one off amazon (under £20) and I paid something like £1.50 for their two year replacement insurance. I will let you know how I get on when this kettle breaks and claim

We're home Sad We had a lovely time. Done three loads of washing already.

Hope DD is feeling better wreck

Hello to all the newbies

Finally got paid. But this will now be it until end of September pay day so must be frugal

Loveabaconsandwich · 30/07/2018 21:28

Well done em DS on the crawling

Laska5772 · 30/07/2018 21:40

love it never will now you have insurance Grin..

Loveabaconsandwich · 30/07/2018 21:48

Too true!

ememem84 · 30/07/2018 22:00

Catface is going crazy. We have moff. She wants moff. She can’t get moff because moff is on the bedroom ceiling. She’s jumping on the bed trying to get moff. I am in bed.

I actually can’t say “moth” anymore. It’s “moff” or nothing.

Cagliostro · 30/07/2018 22:07

It's odd how becoming a parent affects our ability to talk properly isn't it? Not one of us in this house is capable of saying "feet". It's "feets" now even if we are only referring to one.

This smart meter lark is a bit addictive. I keep looking at our cost per hour!

LonelyOversharer · 30/07/2018 22:08

Okay, so. I have finished the budget thing with the credit people. Apparently I have £850 a month 'disposable' income. This is most of my new wages. They will take every penny of this, but if you bear in mind that I currently pay £900+ a month to stand still with my credit cards, I'll be about even, and pay off my debt in 2.7 years. I asked for a few days to think on it, but it's a no brainer, right??

Plus I just checked Center Parks for the last weekend of august. £699. That seems reasonable to me, and we are seriously thinking about it. I nearly have enough cash to just pay for it. Working rocks.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 30/07/2018 22:13

We have this kettle from Curry's (below) £5.49 and it' been brilliant and is still going strong after several years.

We're not allowed to use wrong or mispronounced words. Ds corrects me if I do all the time.

OP posts:
ememem84 · 30/07/2018 22:19

We have feets too. And teef. And teefs. And toof. And we have a nappy changing song “nap nap change do the nap nap change [ds’ name] and Mummy do the nap nap change...”

And er basically I needed to go back to work before I absolutely flipped.

At the gym today trainer had me doing more squats. With a 8kg medicine ball. As I pushed back up I was meant to do a “lateral leg lift” or as I termed it... “tea pot squat” squat down, push back up , leg out to the side. I’m a little tea pot.... cracked up and almost peed my gym pants.

My legs are going to be sore tomorrow. But worth it. I am developing buns of steel. Without the need for neon Lycra, high cut leg leotards and big hair. although that sounds awesome so may search out an 80’s power aerobics class

Cagliostro · 30/07/2018 23:03

Sounds good. But wouldn't the shoulder pads get sweaty?

We have a nappy change song too. Heeeey smelly baby (ooh ah) I wanna knoooow can I change your butt

Blush
ScandiLady · 31/07/2018 05:33

We cant mispronounce words because the dds are trilingual (insecure if its spelled like that) (3 languages) so to help with understanding and speaking the languages we need to do it as correct as possible.
Going to the beach today so should be nsd.

SnugglySnerd · 31/07/2018 05:35

We have loads of daft songs eg "Get your socks on" to the Primal Scream tune and "Where's the changing bag?" to the tune of the Changing man by Paul Weller. My absolute favourite is the disco classic M-A-N-G-O whenever we eat one. Our kids are going to be so embarrassed by us when they are older!
