Now that I've put that in the title, we will almost certainly get snow. LOL!

Welcome to nearly-August.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 30/07/2018 16:08

£2 at the reuse shop on 3 plant pots.
£41 aldi, got loads for this so happy with that, bought lots of store cupboard bits like pasta, tins, cereal, pack lunch bits etc I honestly don't think you can beat aldi /lidl for price on these items.

ScandiLady · 30/07/2018 16:30

So sold for 21 £ the first day so really pleased Smile

SnugglySnerd · 30/07/2018 16:57

That's rubbish about the council Cag but good that you're getting loads done.

School uniform bought. DD is very excited. She wanted to try it all on when we got home right down to the socks and correct-coloured hair bobbles! Still need shoes but will leave those a few more weeks incase she grows.

Other than that I don't feel like we've done much today. DD has been doing a craft kit that she got for her birthday. Other than that we've just pottered about and played with the dts.

Thatsnotmybookworm · 30/07/2018 17:23

That's so sweet @SnugglySnerd; is she starting school?

Spends yesterday £19 in supermarket on bits I couldn't get in Lidl and a pack of vests for DD.

Spends today £6 soft play.

Hello lovely ladies (and gents?) - may I join? I'm due to go on mat leave this year and am the bigger earner in our household so trying to save a bit so I can take off at least about 10 months and still cover our costs. NSDs seem the way forward!

Any tips on cutting baby related costs would really be appreciated. It's our second and we have all unisex clothes so not planning any big purchases in terms of kit. Discovered Aldi nappies already. Does anybody know a really gentle (but cheaper) alternative to Water Wipes? They were a big expense with #1!!

SnugglySnerd · 30/07/2018 17:46

Yes Bookworm she starts in September. She can't wait!

SneakyGremlins · 30/07/2018 17:47

NSD here!

Put my curtains into the washer. Feel like such an adult.

LonelyOversharer · 30/07/2018 18:09

Hi taco when are you due? We've had lots of babies on this thread. I really rate the unscented asda wipes, used from birth with my youngest 2, but we have really good skin. I think the trend now is soft flannels that you reuse, like the big packs you get from ikea.

Think I'm on a nsd as dp bought milk. We had the chicken soup from last week for tea again, twas nice. Work was good, but long today.

Fingers crossed my yarn turns up tomorrow.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 30/07/2018 18:12

Will catch up on thread later
Posting my spends now
€4.50 parking
€50 laser treatment
€25 babysitting
€28 Aldi
€16 swimming for dc
€5 my share towards food after swimming
€90 car battery

Refunds were to joint account and cash which paid for swimming

Cagliostro · 30/07/2018 18:12

I felt grown up when I did that too! I'm currently washing all the scarves gloves etc and have lined up and wiped the garden chairs where the sun is so I can dry them later. That feels quite grown up too.

I am still pootling about unpacking a bit at a time, very carefully in between rests.

Smart meter is fitted, we still seem to have the same amount of credit as when we moved in. WTF. But it shouldn't take long to switch to the direct debit version. I wonder how much more expensive PAYG is? I know we can't be cut off from 6pm like some people, we count as a vulnerable family due to my receiving PIP. We have Asda and Tesco nearby to top up though.

Thatsnotmybookworm · 30/07/2018 18:27

Very exciting @SnugglySnerd Smile.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/07/2018 18:29

Sneaky Very grown up thing to do.

Welcome Taco Amazon can be good for wipes. Theres an app called media cell. It monitors internet use & pays out £10 per month, £20 for the first month. I only have it on my phone because it drains the battery like a bastard but it would make your nappies etc cheaper. There's a driving monitoring app that pays out in amazon vouchers too, I'll have a look for you. I think I got about £30 or so off that.

Dh bought satsumas reduced to 41p from £1.60 Shock. Usually he comes home and says "there was a 1lb of cherries reduced to 1p but I didn't buy them in case you don't like cherries".

Tacoyaki · 30/07/2018 18:32

Hi lonely, I'm due between Xmas and New Year (poor sprite). I'll definitely try the ASDA wipes if I go there though we don't normally go there so should probably just try unscented versions at Aldi and Morrison's as more convenient...struggling with laundry as is so not sure I'll try the reusable option! Thank you though - appreciate the tips.

Tacoyaki · 30/07/2018 18:34

Thanks fluffy, will look into it.

QuiteCleanBandit · 30/07/2018 18:34

😂 Fluffy go DH !
Taco welcome
I use Cheeky wipes as baby wipes-I dont have a baby -Ha!
They are a bit of an outlay but reusable again and again. Just pop wet ones with a squirt of baby bath into a tub and use like wipes.
Wash on hot and reuse.
NSD .
My yarn has been dispatched Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/07/2018 18:35

www.savethestudent.org/make-money/how-to-earn-free-amazon-vouchers.html

Scroll down to number 3. If you get a prize you don't like wait until an amazon voucher comes up. You just need to lie about your age.

AdoraBell · 30/07/2018 18:58

NSD. Am full of lurgies.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 30/07/2018 19:05

Take care there Adora. Flowers

Hi Taco hope you’re enjoying your pregnancy.

Weekly shop done. Pretty much on budget, and it included some school polo shirts for DS2 and some boxer shorts too. Aldi’s hot cloth cleanser was back in store so I got one of those. Was hoping to get some more sun cream, but the shelves were bare! I’m not paying top whack for the branded stuff when the £3 Morrison’s own is just as good.

Lovely afternoon at the park, even better we bumped into some of ds2s school friends. A whole afternoons fun for zero cash.

ememem84 · 30/07/2018 19:30

Hey taco welcome! There’s an unwritten rule here that a minimum of one of us has to be pregnant at any one time! Haha!

We use water wipes but I buy them on amazon in bulk on subscribe and save.

I bought cheeky wipes but couldn’t use them for ds’ bum so we use them for washcloths for him and make up wipes for me.

Gym done.

Making prawn and lemon risotto. Mmmm.
Baking it in oven.

Ds is crazy crawling. 10 crawl “steps” at once now. He’s a crawling machine! I am so so proud of him.

AdoraBell · 30/07/2018 19:34

Thanks Sunny I seem to no on the other side of it now, but still feel drained. I’m up and dressed today though 👍 DH bought me coffee. I had to return something, but we drove as I didn’t have the energy to walk.

Well done Gremlins 😁

Super cute Snuggly 😁

My grocery delivery is coming on Wednesday, DH did a top up shop while Inwas asleep yesterday. No idea how much he spent.

QuiteCleanBandit · 30/07/2018 19:37

Omg Hahaha !
I dont use cheeky wipes on my bum either 😎
em hopefully he will crawl lots and sleep better as he will wear himself out .
